I have shopped at Country Stitches for over 20 years and purchased 6+machines in that time and have always had a great experience. My last three machines were purchased with Kevin in sales and he is so knowledgeable and responsive to my questions and has always treated me well with each purchase and that has kept me coming back. read more

It's okay. That's about all I really want to write, but that's what I want to write. 90 minute drive to the Lansing area, over an hour in the store and I found about 4 things to purchase (me? Spend less than $30 in a fabric store? That's not a good sign), and a 90 minute drive home. That's about all I can say. read more

Stopped in to Country Stitches today for the first time after living in the Lansing area for about ten years. I was completely mesmerized the second I walked in. From the sewing machines to the fabrics, this store has everything you could ever need to quilt/sew/craft. I was a little out of my element because sewing isn't something I've done before, and I'm sure the employees could tell. I asked what was probably a dumb question (I.e. How much fabric do I need to make a few sofa pillows?), and at first the cashier looked at me like I was crazy, but on my way out she told me to have fun making my pillows. I also asked a different employee about their sewing classes and she actually seemed a little annoyed, but in hindsight, she may have been helping another customer, and my questions may have been out of turn. I'm neutral about my overall experience today, and I may come back for a class in the future. read more

Great place for high quality fabric and sewing machines. The store owner is constantly resetting the store, changing computer systems and making busy work for the quilt shop managers and staff so they are overwhelmed and agitated when customers enter the store. CS is not the cheerful, busy place I worked part time as a kid and when the last of the familiar faces from 18+ years ago "retires" this week, I will not be back. read more

I have always liked shopping at this store. But I have become unhappy with some of their policies. I recently bought a large amount of fabric there and was charged a service fee for using a credit card. I don't generally carry a check book or a large amount of cash. I may not shop there in the future due to this extra charge. read more

Not a customer oriented store. If you sign up for a class and pay, just hope that life doesn't happen and you need to cancel! No refunds regardless. I haven't been to the store in a long time, now I remember why. read more

Nice selection of fabrics but expect to pay in CASH! If you're paying with credit or debit card the owners put the 5% fee back on the customer! Considering the volume of business they do, they can afford to eat the 5% fee! read more

Nice selections but absolutely no help. Our group all agreed the employees were very, VERY rude, especially the short, chubby blonde walking around when asked for help finding the materials for a display, said we don't have it. We did find some of it ourselves and talked about what an unpleasant shopping experience it was. To bad it could of been great. read more

I visited my daughter in Lansing today, and she and her boyfriend took me to several different craft-type stores, including Country Stitches. When I walked in, my jaw dropped. They have a wonderful assortment of fabric. I told the kids I'd be awhile, in case they wanted to do something else. I wondered around the store and was probably there for 20-30 minutes. I was completely ignored, not one word spoken to me while I was there, even after making the comment that this was my first time in the store. I ended up calling my daughter to come get me. I figure if they don't want my money, there are plenty of other places I can purchase fabric. It's sad when you can't even say a friendly hello to someone when they come through your front door. read more

We are new to the area and found this wonderful quilting store by asking fellow quilters where we could find the best selection of fabrics in mid-Michigan. This fabric store ROCKS! It has everything a quilter/fabricaholic could dream of. They have every machine you could desire. They have every fabric you could imagine. Batiks, solids, prints, you name it they have it. Some fabrics are higher priced, but, you get what you pay for. The quality of the fabrics is excellent. Of course, there are two large sales sections which we were attracted to immediately and... found a bolt... needless to say it came home with us. The people are wonderful and very helpful and we would recommend Country Stitches highly. read more

I was very excited and happy to discover this quilt shop years ago and would travel over an hour to shop here. However, that initial joy of spending a couple hours browsing and purchasing has deteriorated to the point where I won't even read their flyers that come in the mail. It all started when they pulled their customers into a scam that resulted in the increased cost of sewing machines with the promise of recouping the extra cost paid at a later date. That recoup never happened and no effort was made to appease their customers. They took a "tough luck" attitude where the customer carried the full expense of the scam which they promoted and they walked away with no consequences. I'm ticked off because their was no real apology and no effort to make things right with the customers. Also, when my husband picked up my new overpriced sewing machine he was accidentally given a very expensive embroidery attachment. I had to call the store numerous times before the manager returned my call. You would think they would be grateful that I reported their mistake and wanted to return that expensive attachment. No, they acted annoyed that they had to make FedEx arrangements for it to be picked up. They very much wanted the part back but they wanted me to drive an hour to return it. I never received any sort of acknowledgement of their gratefulness or even a simple thank you. Somewhere down the line they've forgotten that its their customers who keep them in business. read more
