I have been going to the country store since moved to Romeo when I was 16, 1966! it has been a may-stay in my families lives for a very long time. During time I have moved to Colorado and Florida and I have ordered Southern Pecan coffee from that store for many, many years! I had it delivered when we lived in CO and now living in Florida. 33 years for serving the Romeo community. The lovely couple running the store has been doing it for the last 33 years and it's always kept a very interesting set of items to find that remind you of yesterday year. There is so many vintage and historical items all around this little store such as the 1886 stove and the self playing piano. Not to mention the entire front of the store was moved to its current location from across the street somewhere around 60 years ago. It was a former barn. I stop by the Country Store whenever I'm in Romeo. It really does look and feel like an old country store from the 1800s. The store sells candy, coffee, little knick knacks, and other household items. Sometimes early on weekends, the store offers a free cup of coffee to customers. I don't have a sweet tooth, so I've never bought any candy here, but half of the entire front section of the store is just candy. It's really cheap, like 2 cents each for gummies and 25 cents for licorice. I stopped by after the holidays and bought Christmas LED canvas art for half off. There are also cute tea sets, coasters, candles, soap, and more. It's a good place to buy gifts any time of the year. read more

This store has by far the best coffee in town ! A wonderful selection of candles , a great selection of candy you can even find the penny ones ! Not to mention that around Christmas , this place is busier than North Pole ! And i can't tell you enough things about the awesome staff they have there ! I absolutely love this cute and fun little shop. It is nostalgic with all of the candy. We were all laughing and talking about the candy we used to have as a kid. They have a lot of homemade items such as cobblers, jelly, honey, country dip mixes, soup mixes, coffee, candles, soaps, lotions, hand creams, wicker baskets, etc. There was a lot of unique things to look at. A lot of the candles smelled amazing, along with the soaps and lotions. In the back section there was a lot of those light up paintings. They look awesome. Some of them flash on and off. Beautiful paintings and decorations for gardens in the back. We bought 1/2 pound of two of the coffees. It was hard to choose between them all. Excited to try them. We also bought some of the surprise candy bags for my siblings. My boyfriend's mom got a really nice purse like book carrier. It can hold all of her books. The material is amazing. Brought the brat here today for some candy she doesn't need or really deserve (I jest, she isn't bad she's just spoiled and selfish). Not much has changed in the last 40 years except maybe the way children behave. I was an angel, hence my dad brought me here on Sunday drives from Royal Oak back in the day before phones. We'd jam out to Janis Joplin and Willie Nelson and drive. It was nice. Still is. Now Baby sits in the passenger seat and plays Dj and sings like a canary (I do not. My dad never told me how lousy I was but I am). "Be good to your daughters they will love like you do". A bag of candy is about $5-$7.50. We like to get a pack of candy cigs (the sweet chewy kind not the smoking gum ones), raspberries, Swedish fish, and sixlets. The candy store is still a simple place. They sell coffee and candles and what-nots. The people running the place are like your favorite aunt and uncle, despite being Spartan fans I like them a lot:). In the little faux frontier town shops you will find a resale store, candle stores, an ice cream shop, a chocolate store, you get the idea. These shops have switched places and come and gone over the years but always remain kind of the same. When life allows it stop time and take a drive to the Country Store with the kids get a bag of candy and drive home. It's fun. Don't turn on a DVD for the drive make them look out the window. read more

One of my favorite stores to shop. The owners and employees are so amazingly friendly. They have so much to look at, there's something for everyone. The candy selection brings back memories of the "penny candy" days. They even have candy grab bags for $1. Check out the back room for some awesome lit up art work. On the weekends, they offer samples of desserts or chili. Free coffee is offered daily. Such an awesome assortment of goodies, you won't be disappointed. Also, don't forget to buy some feed for the goats in the back. That's my daughters favorite part. read more

I didn't have high expectations based on the exterior (though cute) but really enjoyed shopping here. First, the owners are very proud and knowledgable about everything they sell. Got some great MI flavored coffee (MI maple, MI cherry, etc.) and scented candles (in the back). My kids were so excited about all of the candy and treats up front. The owner helped my boys pick out candy within their "budget" and kept them entertained. So adorable! read more

The Country Store has THE best coffee flavors! I'm a fan of the cinnamon hazelnut, blueberry cobbler, and the holiday blend, but my absolute favorite is the Michigan maple. So good! They always have a pot brewed to test out the flavor of the day, also. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The one downfall for me is that's it's difficult for me to shop during open hours with my work schedule, but I always find a way to make it work. read more

I like the variety of candy but not the prices. Also you can't use credit or debit cards unless you spend $10 or more. Most places let you do $5. It's hit or miss if you get old candy that's hard. Me and my son bought the exact same thing but mine was too hard to eat and his wasn't. They need to go through inventory and check how old stuff is. read more
