TLDR I 100% do NOT recommend this place if your car has an issue. ONLY come here to do the oil…read morechange next door. I am not a car person, but my check emissions/engine light was on so I went to get my oil and filter changed as well as get a read on the engine code. The mechanics then said I needed to replace a mass airflow sensor. Then I went to get it fixed there, and that's pretty much when everything went south. While the labor was about $130 an hour (discounted because I was already there), they used a dealer part which upcharged the whole invoice by $230. They said if I got the part at a different place and had them do the labor, it would have been $160 an hour. They charged for 1.5 hours. In reality, it took about 20 minutes to figure out the problem, 30 minutes for the part to arrive, and should have taken them 20 minutes to install the part. So I just paid an extra amount for labor to... well... sit around. The other part is that since it was a dealer part, it cost over $200 more to get it. While there is a 12 month warranty on it, it really doesn't make sense to over charge 380%. To be honest, I didn't know my options and felt pressured to just do it. Coupled with my inexperience in regards to car parts... well that's just asking for trouble. When I asked them why the part was so high, the man at the front explained about it being a dealer part (keep in mind that they did not tell me initially about why the part cost the way it did). He seemed very annoyed by my questions. Later on, the man also scolded a worker for talking too much and explaining things to a customer on the basis that it "confuses" the customer. Honestly, I think there is a lack of transparency and honesty in this establishment, which allows for unreasonable upcharge and allows staff to confused customers to profit more.... That is the business. So here is some advice for people who find themselves in the same situation as me. 1. Keep calm. I didn't actually need to replace that part right away, so I could have found a better option. 2. Get the read on the engine and get the codes. 3. Google the code and shop around to get someone to look at the car for diagnostics if needed. Do not do it right away. 4. Figure out the parts you need if any and get them at auto one. The dealer part does include a 12 month warranty... but it does not warrant that huge upcharge. 5. Find a place to do the labor for you. Don't be afraid to shop around.
