Hands down, the WORST experience I've had at a vet in the 5 years I've had my dog. I would rate them a zero if possible. Read my lengthy explanation before going here.
First the facts.
Our dog Duke gets anxious during car rides, previous vets have recommended Trazodone for his anxiety. While we don't like to give him "drugs", it definitely helps him stay calm.
My wife are from Ohio and I have been full-time RVing and traveling for over a year, using Trazodone on the bigger travel days.
We were in Island Park, ID all summer and preparing to leave for a drive across country to Ohio. We realized we were low on Duke's pills and my wife called Countryside. She explained our need for a prescription refill and was told they can help.
After a week went by, I drove Duke an hour to the clinic. I was escorted to the back room and spoke to the tech about our needs. She said she needed to get Dr Geary, 15 minutes later he finally showed up. He asked me what I needed, I explained it again, Dr Geary then informed me he was not going to fill a prescription. He was not apologetic for us receiving incorrect information and for my 2 hours of wasted driving time. He said that Duke seems just fine to him and I explained it's because I gave him Trazodone before the drive. He said he would not risk his license to issue the meds to Duke. I explained again that we are traveling across country and need to keep Duke calm. I asked him what it would take to get the meds, he responded that Duke would have to be a regular patient with a record on file. Again, we were never told this over the phone after a full explanation from my wife.
And now my opinion.
Dr Geary was accusatory toward me, it felt like he didn't want to fill the prescription because he thought I was taking the pills. Interestingly enough, I just read another negative review from a client that claims the same thing. Dr Geary was very cold and seemed to be sizing me up. Not a smile or friendly gesture toward me. I had the bottle with me from the last vet and he didn't bother to look at it or even ask for Duke's records. Had he asked, he would have found a comprehensive record of all the shots, treatments and prescriptions issued over the 5 years we've had Duke. Surely these records would prove Duke needed Trazodone for anxiety and that his license couldn't possibly be in jeopardy based off 5 other vets that have treated Duke.
Dr Geary simply chose not to help an animal that was in need and I'd like to know why. Was it me? Did he really think I was taking the pills? Was it because I'm not a local or a friend of his? Maybe he doesn't like people who aren't ftom Idaho? Or was it simply that Dr Geary has exhausted his ability to truly care for animals and treating them with dignity.
Whatever the case, I will never go back and I urge everyone to reconsider using this vet to treat your beloved pets. read more
