I love bubbly so of course I had to check this place out. I came on Saturday around 730pm with a girl friend and we had a good time catching up and enjoying some drinks. We were seated along the wall at a low two top. I had a couple glasses of house bubbles (can't beat $6/glass) and we shared the naan flatbread with shrimp and mushrooms. My friend enjoyed her espresso martini and we spent about an hour and a half there. It's in a good area (with EV charging!) by Hi Wire, Cugino, and an ice cream shop. I enjoyed the bubbles and food but to be honest, I can't quite put my finger on it, something seemed to be missing. Service was decent, not overly friendly, and not necessarily rude, maybe just feeling impersonal if that makes any sense.

Pro tip: on your first visit, sign up with your email address/phone number (I don't think I've even received any messages from them since) and you get a free dessert on your birthday! I especially love their mocktails. This time, I got the Lychee Keen (Kentucky 74, lychee, luxardo cherries, lime juice- the sweet/tart contrast was chef's kiss) and Oreo Cake (absolutely no notes- loved the layers of chocolate cake, cream, and soft Oreos). Service was fast and friendly. Ambiance is great: pink speakeasy vibe, super cute. Still 10/10 would recommend!

One of my new favorite cocktail bars in Durham! Obsessed. Could not be more cute. On one hand, I want to tell everyone and their sister about it, it's so cute. On the other hand, I want to keep it on the DL because I don't want it to get too popular that I can't get in! The decor and ambiance is A++ - love the pink and glam of this place. The drinks are EXCELLENT. Tons of great champagne cocktails, other cocktails and wine and spirits. Also a large and yummy selection of mocktails! The food (mostly small plates) is okay but the dessert is scrumptious! Service is friendly. Perfect place to go for a girls night out, bday party or even Bach!!

We had read about a new champagne bar opening in the Golden Belt complex in Durham and drove over on a whim on a Saturday evening to take a look. They are on the quieter side away from the art galleries and brewery so it took us a while to find them. Once we stepped inside, it felt like we were in a fancy hotel parlor. Yes, it is a little girlie but also elegant. We tried two sparking wines and a very sweet almond coconut cake, but they also have some light bites and tinned fish. They also have champagne cocktails, regular cocktails, plus wine and beer. Our very pleasant server also brought a complimentary fruit cocktail for visiting in their first few weeks. I give them credit for opening a new concept that isn't like anything like it in the area. Right now they are only open Thurs-Sat but I'm sure that will change as they settle in and find their groove. Definitely check them out.

Takes 30 minutes to get a drink. Not sure how it takes that long to make a couple of drinks.

The BV server said that if we didn't want to wait, Annexe was their sister bar downstairs with the same kitchen. While BV's vibes are ~adult, sultry, modern~ Annexe is more ~young, party, fun~ Honestly, we were just hungry and didn't care too much. On Mondays, they have a $12 burger deal that comes with fries and a beer, which is a steal. As a not beer girlie, I appreciated that they allowed me to substitute a house soda. My friend is gluten-free and they allowed substitutions for her meal as well. The burger was good- not the best burger I've had in my life but tasty. Same with the fries. I got the Pistachio Orange house soda, which was interesting and refreshing, albeit a tiny bit heavy on the spices. My biggest qualm was with the wait- it took at least 25 minutes for our drinks (it wasn't super busy like BV) and 1 hour for our food (understandable I suppose with the shared kitchen). Now I was busy yapping with my friend so that wasn't too big of a deal for us, but I feel like it was notable. Service was also maybe a bit too attentive, with multiple attempts to grab our plates before we were fully finished- again not a huge problem for us in the grand scheme of things. Overall, a good option if all you care about is food and BV is too busy, but the vibes are completely different. 7/10 would recommend!

It did move fast for us so we were able to get in about 10 minutes later or so. It was latin night so the music was tailored to that so I won't comment on what that was like. The outdoor patio was wonderful. Not too loud. Some good seating options. You can access the bar from out there too. Took awhile to get to order while waiting in line. My husband and I visited recently for a bourbon tasting, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. Our mixologist, Berkay, was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. The food menu was another big win, especially as someone who eats vegan. They offered vegan options, which made the experience feel inclusive and well thought out This is a fantastic spot for date night, a girls' night, or celebrating something special. We've been to Aaktun in Durham multiple times for both breakfast and dinner, and it's honestly become one of our favorite spots. I'm Peruvian and grew up with Peruvian cuisine, so seeing lomo saltado -- a classic Peruvian dish -- on the menu immediately made me happy. Having also grown up in Mexico and lived in places like Miami, I really appreciate what they're doing with the menu: a modern, delicious take on Latin flavors that feels creative without losing what makes those cuisines special. The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful. You walk in thinking it's a stylish little coffee shop, then head toward the back and the whole place opens up -- gorgeous bar, tropical touches, cozy alcove seating, really cool vibe. One time we went with friends for a special dining experience they were offering, and it was excellent. The food, drinks, and whole experience were made even better by Fernando, the manager, who has always been incredibly warm, helpful, and accommodating. Highly recommend Aaktun for breakfast or dinner. Still haven't made it there for lunch somehow, but at this point we'd be shocked if it wasn't great too.

"Part Dos - Mostly great, with a few exceptions"…read more Food temp is major in my book. While many of the food options were hot, several were not, and I believe that impacted the overall dining experience. We ordered classic breakfast and jerk chicken lunch options. For drinks: Cappuccino and Mango Refreshers. The good: (1) Fried rice - which accompanied the jerk chicken (served hot). While simple, the slightly earthy and bitter (in the best way possible) from the braised/steamed baby bok choy perfectly accompanied the earthy mushroom, and complex soy inspired fried rice. So good - this could be a vegan or meat side entree unto itself - IMO. (2) Scrambled Eggs - If you enjoy large curds of gently scrambled eggs - this is for you. While we enjoyed the remaining options for portion size and flavor, we did note that the temperature was cool to mid - which impacted overall flavor. Jerk Chicken: we understand this is a jerk inspired interpretation. With that being said, the most interesting flavor was limited to the crispy skin. Perhaps the chicken was immersed in a salt brine and basted with a jerk flavoring? We loved the white (perhaps mayo based sauce), and accompanied pickled red onion. But baby, the food temp. Yucca fries - if you're unfamiliar - are the baby of a green plantain and white potatoes. While good, they were not hot. Maybe could have benefited from a unique sauce? Food service good. But the biggest miss was the cheese hash browns and Mango Refresher. Hash brown (cheese) room temp, and tough - Mango Refresher - too tart and not worth the cost. As far as ambience: Customers were Hip, sexy, multi ethnic , and included old and young. We loved our waiter. Overall, a little disappointing especially considering we loved our first coffee breakfast visit so much. Not sure if it was an off day or we just prefer other menu options. However, we'd definitely visit again! Brunch/lunch: 4.2

We also had the citrus lavender crème brûlée, which was surprisingly delicious. I don't usually go for crème brûlée, but this one was light, not overly sweet, and just had a really nice flavor.
