I HATE having my car get worked on. If you don't know a lot about cars, you feel like you're absolutely going to get overcharged or have unnecessary work done. It was this attitude that had me sitting on a "Check Engine Soon" light for 6 months. Courtright was recommended to me by a friend. This place is fantastic. I called on MLK day with a laundry list of about 5 things I wanted fixed. They got me in the same day, fixed everything the same day, suggested one very necessary other repair (rear brake replacement - the improvement after the repair is obvious - no more "shimmy"), and I picked it up the same day. This is a great place to bring your car. The young man at the front counter doesn't overcharge me on simple things like changing a burnt out tail light on my car. Another time he did not charge me for fixing the hanging plastic bumper under my front end. I was so grateful , that I brought back a bag of fresh pastries for all the guys at the garage. Courtright Auto has been my go to company for almost a year now. Since I've moved out to Murray I didn't really have a trusted mechanic till now. They have repaired what other would be mechanics call fixed. They even work with you on the price. I own a 99 Jeep Cherokee which often needs a little TLC because of all the off roading I do and Ryan (Owner/Manager) is more than fair on all the repairs they have done. I also really appreciate that they are open till 6 every night which means I can either drop off my Jeep during the day and pick it up after work. They also have a free loaner car service that really helps with my busy work schedule. read more

If you're like me and avoid any type of car repairs as LONG as possible, and then feel like an idiot afterwards, this is the garage for you! My 2008 Jeep Wrangler needs a TON of work but brakes were the priority. Luckily my girlfriend convinced me to cancel my dealership appointment and come see the boys at Courtwright Auto! Booooom! Perfect! Unfortunately they had to do a little More work than originally thought but they didn't go nuts charging me a ton extra! It actually came out less than I had budgeted for the repairs! I recently came here based on decent Yelp reviews. I had a few maintenance things I needed to get done. My car was fine until a little over a month out. The engine light came on and concerned that it may be some kind of recall issue, I went to the dealer. They noted that the cause for the engine light going off was likely due to whoever handled it last. Both clamps on the air intake tube were loose and the hose was hanging off. When I returned to Courtright to address this, the immediate reaction of the owner/manager was defensive. His defensive demeanor even became rude; and his way of addressing the issue was just an after-the-fact kinds of recommendations. Nothing to really relieve any frustrations or instill confidence in their work again. They reacted as if they surely did not care about keeping a customer. The way they blew me off almost seems like this is a common occurrence, an unsatisfied customer, since the defensive reaction was so quick. No other suggestions were given to amend their mistake and negligence, instead they smugly brushed me off with a "have a good day" as they motioned for me to leave. Poor business skills and disrespectful customer service. read more

Firestone guy suggest me to change bushes for front arm wheel of my car. As those are to costly and I'm not sure that I need to replace those or not. I have talk to the guy from the courtright. he gave me a free inspection of my bushes. The most thing I like is they are very good person and never misguide and take advantages of others. They gave me right suggestions and save my almost 500 bucks. I would recommend this place as they give right advise to the customer. read more

Bad Experience, Here is what happened thus far: -Took in for shaking and to repair reverse lights 3 days later -Pick up car, go to start it, dead, told it was left on and had to be jumped -Both are repaired but it's very hard to shift into 1st and 2nd gear -When I stop car and come back 20 min later it is does not start, I have it towed by my AAA 2 Days later -Told car starts and it was bad coil -Pay $200 for coil replacement -When i pick it up I again stop somewhere, come back and it does not start -I pay $89 to have it towed 1 week later -Was told it was good to go and had been tested multiple times -Went to pick it up and it did not start -Was told I would be called to be given a loaner car when it was ready, I was never called 1 month later -I have called multiple times to check up on it with no progress -Was told expert would come in to check it out and that they would call me back...no call back -Called the next day and was told the expert was sick but was coming in today and would be called back when he comes in...no call back -Called at 8:15 AM, no answer, called at 8:30 am, no answer, called at 10:15 and was told no progress and was referred to Larry H. Miller Toyota to be towed at my expense. It is now being towed there. They seem like nice people but after having to reach out to them after not being called back, after being told I would be called back, promised a loaner car, and a month of going carless after it went in for shaking and came out unable to start I believe my rating is justified. They said that they would reimburse me the cost of towing and repair if it was found that they had caused the problem and while that is nice i'm left with $500 +/- spent on towing and a coil before repairs with a problem that didn't exist prior to taking it into Courtright. I will update when problem is diagnosed and they are contacted. read more

Ryan is the best there is. I won't trust my car repairs to anyone else. If there were more stars on Yelp, Ryan would earn every one of them. The business model at Courtright is built on honesty and it's geared toward earning and keeping your business. I have referred all my family and friends and each time Courtright has gone above and beyond to take care of them. I often hear from women that they hate getting their cars repaired because they feel like they are always getting taken advantage of. This will never happen at Courtright. They always explain the problem and what it will take to get it fixed. They never over charge and they won't suggest repairs that are not absolutely necessary. As can be expected with any reputable car repair facility, business is good. They are always busy so I suggest giving them a call before you plan to bring in your car. They will never say they are too busy, but they'll set a reasonable expectation for a time frame and they'll always do what they can to take care of you quickly. There are two things in life that you should always keep to yourself. The first is a good tailor and the second is a good mechanic. While this review is contrary to my personal philosophy; I feel a good write-up is the very least I could do in exchange for all that has been done for me over the years. read more

I am so glad to have found such an honest and helpful repair shop! I went to get a second opinion/quote on new struts that Big O Tire told me needed to be replaced immediately- for an outrageous price. Ryan did a free suspension check and brake check, took me out to the shop room and showed me with a flashlight what they saw, explaining details of what they look for, etc. Turns out, he saw that the struts still had plenty of mileage left on them! He did recommend new brake pads, and worked up a very reasonable quote. He offered a free shuttle service to drop me off and pick me back up at my house- even though it would only take about an hour! The waiting room was very comfy with free wi-fi and cable, so I decided to wait, and they were done in no time! He even seemed to know all the customers by name as they came in. Will be going here from now on! read more

Do not go to Courtright Automotive. I had my car in there during November of 2014 for an overheating issue. I had already determined that it was because my radiator fan would not turn on while my car was idling. The mechanic at Courtright refused to listen to me, and spent four hours "diagnosing" that my problem was a busted head gasket. I paid $1,100 to get my head gasket replaced, and my engine overheated two days later. When I took my car back, the mechanic decided that the best way to fix it was to put a paperclip in my fan relay and avoid explaining to me what he meant by running a bypass. A few months later, I took my car to a different shop because it was idling at 2,500 rpm. After fixing that issue, the mechanic alerted me to the fact that my check engine light had been disabled. Another issue I have with Courtright is that I found a lot of oil in my radiator hoses, which is a huge indicator of a busted head gasket. This means that either my head gasket wore out incredibly quickly, my car has been overheating constantly, or that Courtright never fixed it in the first place. Plus, my engine has been leaking oil since I got my car back from Courtright Automotive. Do not take your car to Courtright Automotive. They are dishonest, they are not transparent with their customers, and they are obviously more likely to screw their customers over in order to make a few thousand bucks than they are to actually do the job they are being paid for. read more

the only thing "poor" about me is my pocketbook after working with you. You missed a car when you said only two cars died on your watch, it was three, and all within months of each other. Let's not forget the advise to put a new engine into the van that you suggested which resulted in thousands in your pocket and our car in the junk yard, You argued then that it was your employee who advised us to replace the engine and that you were not responsible. I disagree, its your business. Let's also note the untold times that you "fixed" one of our cars and we had to invariably return it to you within the week because of the check engine light coming on, or other problems with the fix. Usually quick fixes, but not easy to bring the car back time and time again. We put up with this shoddy workmanship for far too long. I would not advise anyone to bring their car here. I was being nice before when I left my review by not getting into the nuts and bolts of my problems with Courtright Auto but no more. And yes Ryan, it was not too difficult to find another business that treated me as well as you did. To find one that treated me worse than you would have been more difficult. read more

A good mechanic is hard to find sometimes. The Courtright mechanic that worked on my vehicle is not good. The second star is only because they were able to get my vehicle back to me in only a few hours, and were very friendly. HOWEVER...I took a 99 Jeep in for a fuel system repair last winter, and came away sorely disappointed. They replaced my fuel pump and the vehicle started fine for a few days then began having the same trouble as before. Unable to return to have them fix it right within the 30 day warranty period due to a business trip that took me out of town for three weeks, I called to ask if they would have a look at it again to see if they missed something, explaining my reason for being past the 30 days. I was told that the warranty had expired and I would be paying for the diagnosis. I took the Jeep to another mechanic and they identified the problem as a fuel pressure module - not the fuel pump - and the Jeep has run like a champ since. Although the shop was clean and organized, and the staff friendly and polite, I cannot recommend this shop as I felt like I had been hosed. read more

Last year my hydraulic clutch on my Chevy 4x4 went out, and they fixed it. A week later it failed again. "Oops, sorry, needed to tighten the line...you're ok now". 3 days later, out of hydraulic fluid again. Bad unit on tranny, and other big bill. 4 days later, guess what? Can't shift again. Took them 4 times to fix it right. I gave them another chance, thinking they might make it up to me for their colossal screw up last time. Nope. Today I picked up the same car that had a bad alternator and brought it elsewhere due to their $1500 repair quote for alternator, replace plugs, belts, and the ignition coils they broke "testing for spark". (Seriously? You remove and break ONE to see there's no spark...not all 4). I got a new (not rebuilt alternator), 4 coils, 4 plugs and 2 belts online for $200, and a mobile mechanic is charging me $250 to do the labor, including repairing what Courtright broke...for less than a third of what Courtright quoted me! Never. Never again. Ever. read more

Came in with an issue after a 2000 mile road trip. They made my issue a high priority, fixed me up in under an hour and did a great job.

This shop is all about the customer. I have a 4runner with a lift. I took it here for an alignment. They spent the time to explain why I need an adjustable track bar. No pressure to buy from them. I appreciate the fact they just didn't to " The best they could" as the dealer has many times. I installed the track bar and took back to have the alignment completed. The mechanic was meticulous to make sure all aspect were perfect. Attention to detail and great services! Found my new home. Thanks guys! read more

These guys cannot be beat. About a month ago my wife was distracted driving my truck and hit a dip at high speed knocking the upper control arms a bit loose I noticed a small clunk when turning at max and figured I better have it looked at but put it off. Last week I traveled 80 miles on a wash board dirt road and it must have loosened those upper control arms quite a bit because by the time I got back to salt lake the dodge truck clearly had big problems steering and breaking. I sent my wife with the truck in and Ryan took great care of the truck and my wife. He tightened the upper control arms back up and aligned the front end best he could and did not charge us one dime. He sent her away with a smile and a recommendation to come back and get it aligned properly and to take it easy when off road... It was not till later that night my wife confessed to hitting a dip at 45 while trying to get her phone to give her directions. Any way, you will not find better service that that and all of my experiences with Ryan Courtwright have been open and honest. They have done lots of work on my dodge truck over the time I have owned it. I would recommend this shop to anybody looking for an honest quality mechanic. Took my car to get fixed here after making the silly mistake of doing my safety and emissions at a dealership. Of course, the dealership was just trying to make some money off of my crappy old car and failed me on safety, wanting to charge me $600 for the repairs (which I'm still convinced my car didn't necessarily need to pass safety). I gave 'em the finger (figuratively, not literally) and told them I wasn't going to fix it with them today, being a poor grad student who can't just fork over $600 at the drop of a hat. I called around and came upon Courtright. They were super friendly and quoted me a much better price--about $250. I brought my car in the next day and they fixed it quickly and did a great job. They also gave me quotes on a few other repairs that I need--like a timing belt change--and again their prices seem low and fair. I'll definitely be bringing it back for those fixes in the future. The repair at Courtright was quick and cheap and the customer service was very friendly. Suck it, Honda dealer! read more
