Loved Courtside, but it is now closed. Not sure if it will reopen. Sorry to lose this great place in Plattsburg.

I probably should have ordered one of their burgers, as that's what they're known for! My chicken…read moresalad on a croissant was supposed to have fresh apples, grapes, and nuts, but had none of any. Instead, it was very savory...not at all what my tastebuds craved or were ready for! Others at my table said their food wasn't quite what they expected/hoped for. It was hectic because we were there for the Plattsburg Historic Holiday Homes Tour, so the servers were rushed, and they were out of some things, including the free "starter" item the homes tour gave us a coupon for. The bright side? They substituted a DESSERT!! Yay! Either banana cream pie or tiramisu (not an item I would have expected at a burger joint/cafe), but neither was homemade. And although we asked if there was any chance they would run out of either, and our server said " no chance," they ran out of the pie. With only 3 pieces left for 6 of us, 3 had to go with tiramisu...both choices were good, but not great. I would might go back to Plattsburg just to drive around to see the many, many historic homes, predominantly fancy Victorian style. But I'd eat at a different restaurant. The architectural treasures may be a well-kept secret, as none of us homes-tour-and-historic-architecture junkies knew about them or about Plattsburg's rich history before learning of the tour. Ask someone there what was discovered about one of their famous, never married, supposedly childless forefathers at the town's first big reunion when many ancestors got together!

If you're heading to Danny's Burger Shack, just know one thing up front, there might be a wait. But…read moreafter trying both the PB & J Burger and the Sweet Heat Burger... yeah, it's worth it. The PB & J Burger sounds wild on paper, but it absolutely works. The peanut butter brings that rich, savory creaminess, and paired with the jalapeño jelly, it hits this perfect sweet-with-a-kick balance that keeps every bite interesting. It's one of those burgers that makes you stop after the first bite like, "okay... this is legit." The Sweet Heat Burger leans even more into that flavor combo. The sweetness comes through first, then the heat builds, and that jalapeño jelly really ties it all together, adding both sweetness and a subtle spice that doesn't overpower the burger itself. It's bold, messy in the best way, and just really well executed. Neither of these quite cracked my personal #1 burger of all time, but they're not far off. Both were seriously delicious, packed with flavor, and easily worth trying if you're in the area.

We had the Classic Burger and it was amazing. Always fresh and served fast. I got the onion rings, my husband got the fries. We always share them because we can never decide which we like better. The place was packed when we came in right during lunch rush, but service was still friendly and quick. I love that they still keep that food truck vibe from the old days.

Inside it is tiny with as many tables as the converted gas station could hold. Most of them were occupied with locals AND visitors alike having a bite. Avery, our server, was fast with our drinks and patient while we ordered. I had unsweet, freshly made, iced tea with their Reuben Burger and tots. My Wife had the Patty Melt with tots, my Son had their Hornet Burger with a Sting and fries, while my Daughter had chicken fingers and fries. They came out in a short time after the order being placed ... quite hot and very fresh. I laid into mine with gusto. The rye bread was buttery and toasted to give it a crispy bite with the tangy sauerkraut snap and a creamy thousand island dressing complimenting the swiss cheese melted over a beef patty that oozed just enough to make the bite juicier than it really was. Kathy herself came out to chat with us for a few minutes in-between orders. She happily regaled us with her start up out of a food truck in 2015 and how she moved into the brick and mortar place when it came available. She and her two waitstaff buzzed like busy bees during service and looked like a well oiled team getting every glass refilled and orders placed on the table. If I EVER come back to Hamilton for additional quilting expeditions, Kathy's Kitchen will be in the agenda for breakfast and lunch. Stop by if you are in Hamilton. You won't be disappointed. Ciao, Darrell
