I visited July 23rd through 26th. I got there immediately told that I didn't cancel a second room I booked. I talked to reservation her name was Alejandra Rosa. The receptionist was extremely rude and didn't want to get Ms Rosa. My name and email address was wrong. Finally Ms. Rosa come out and was saying I was a liar that I never talked to her. I had her number in my phone 4 times her direct number. She still was saying it wasn't her and trying to charge me for the second room I was not using. This took 3 days to finally get resolved. This was the worst experience I have had on a vacation that I spent over $2,000 on. We are still at this POS motel so called hotel & getting harassed over being white. They fucked us over on breakfast. They didn't serve us drinks until we were done eating after asking 5 times. Then we were harassed at the pool which we had full access to being paying customers. I had a great time here. The Courtyard by Marriott Isla Verde is very centrally located in San Juan close to the airport and directly by the beach. 2 beach chair and an umbrella were included. The water was very choppy but I loved going for walks by the beach. The pool is pretty warm and open 24/7. While I did enjoy the breakfast buffet, I didn't like the lunch food. No authentic Puerto Rican cuisine and very bland. The rooms were nice and we had a beach view but there were bugs sometimes. Staff were nice. read more

Nice place located on the beach and very close to the airport. We got caught up in some renovations and moved rooms a few times but we did get to stay in one of the newly renovated rooms and it was i big difference from the older rooms. I would probably give this a solid 4 stars after the renovations but there is a lot of work to be done. The property itself outside is very nice, the pool could have been cleaner, lots of leaves and foliage debris floating around but otherwise ok. The pool is open 24 hours for those late night swims. The two outside restaurants were ok, nothing special but also in need of upgrades, overall this place is nice but might need another year before coming back for another try. read more

Booked this hotel after looking at the wonderful photos. Well photos can be deceiving. The lobby is beautiful and very well taken care off. Eveything else is terrible. Beach chairs are old and repaired with zip ties, outdoor restaurant seat cushions are stained and have bird poop on them. Hallways smell like mildew. We were told that the room gets cleaned every other day. We have been here for four days now and have not had our room cleaned even once. Let me add that bathroom and room have long black hair all over the place. I am blonde so definitely not mine. This morning at breakfast I overheard a guest speaking to a manager letting them know they got injured on property. They called the front desk and notified them but no one reached out to that person for a day until she requested to speak with the manager. I would take my money elsewhere. read more

After a long 9 hours in flight from LAX, I immediately hit the lobby bar for some food and rum lol. Really attentive service from the bartender and I went with his suggestion. Ordered the Puerto Rican longaniza sliders and truffle fries. Paired that with a 7 year old rum from Don Q. My only complaint is I wish the sliders had more meat cause they were delicious. My husband and I have made this our main location when visiting our beautiful island of Puerto Rico but I have to say we give a HUGE shout out to Fernando and Ivalese (I hope I spelled her name correctly-apologies if I didn't) who give the best service poolside. They are phenomenal at their jobs including Gigi the bartender who is equally as awesome. This is one of the most wonderfully managed hotel properties on the island, it's classy and relaxing. There is often entertainment. The beach area cannot be beat! Service here is top notch and the place feels like Puerto Rico. It doesn't feel like you're in Florida or just any other sunny spot, the food the music speaks to the pride of this island! Nice place to hang your hat for a couple of days while visiting some family nearby. The hotel has a great breakfast buffet under $20.00 and excellent service. Bar is busy at night out back with great staff who make drinks for you. Casino was adequate but took some Benjamin's from me. Comfortable room and spacious. This Marriot property is convenient to the airport and is beachfront (with chair and umbrella service) and a nice pool area with swim up bar. The Lobby is nice, but the rooms are extremely worn, dated and our view of a dilapidated building next door (we were partial ocean view) was not pleasing-this was an upgrade because we are Titanium Elite. While the dining room/restaurant has a great view, the birds are overwhelming (when you sit outside) and the food is just ok-I ordered a fruit plate and the presentation was absolutely beautiful but when I moved my yogurt there was fuzzy mold all over the fruit at the back of the plate (they did not charge me and apologized). The staff was extremely nice, and our service was always good. read more

My requests were met exactly as I asked and quickly even with him having other tables to serve. I'm a manager in sales for 10 team members. If Alan were on my team, I would definitely use him as the high bar for other team members to strive for. (Note: we spent the day here, after disembarking a cruise, to relax before catching a flight) This Courtyard by Marriott location is top-notch in its offering. We had purchased a "Resort Pass" to spend the day and the front desk was more than happy to get us squared away. After obtaining our wrist bands we headed to the pool to enjoy the wonderful weather. While popping in and out of the pool we crossed paths with the towel/pool hut guy. He was SO FUN! He made everyone feel so welcome and was one of the absolutely nicest humans I've ever chatted with. We also spent time in the ocean and, despite the warnings, there were no bugs that we encountered at all. For lunch we had a low key sit down at the outdoor restaurant. The menu was small but the food was tasty and our waiter was friendly. When it came time to leave we changed out of our clothes in the nice bathrooms and grabbed a taxi. In all it was well worth the price of admission for what they provided. And it was MUCH nicer than sitting at the airport (given we were traveling with young children). read more

I don't usually make reviews about all of my traveles but I had to do one for this property. This resort is very attractive even though it's under construction which wasn't intrusive to the guest. It's right behind the airport which didn't bither me at all and I figured how convenient lol. The Front Desk Staff and Concierge were AMAZING and so accommodating, the Casino Staff need a hospitality/good manners course regardless if you speak English or not you can be pleasant and smile at ALL guests. The Valet/Parking Staff were awesome and hospitable. The rooms are spacious and we took advantage of our balcony daily to watch the sunrise each morning but the mattresses aren't that comfortable and the carpet needs updating. I would definitely come back but what makes me hesitant is the beach rules. The Beach Staff were collecting the chairs and umbrellas while they were occupied by seniors(My Mom being one of them), a pregnant woman and the rest of us who were relaxing. They also collect the umbrellas at 5:30 pm and 6pm they collect the chairs even though it's officially Summer and we have the difference in daylight hours. My mother is a senior citizen and that was extremely disturbing to us. We were sitting on the ground each day after the chairs were collected. In all my travels, I have never seen a practice like that at a resort. Don't get me wrong we understand rules but it didn't make any sense and it wasn't hospitable. My Mom was extremely upset the first day but we just adjusted after that so that we could enjoy ourselves. I would encourage management to come up with a better system for Summer hours especially for a beachfront resort. Other than that, I'd suggest this hotel. read more

All the staff we encountered here had a friendly, positive, fun attitude. Lena checked us in and lifted our spirits. The gentleman who helped with our bags was efficient and oriented us to the room features. Raphael was our waiter in the beachfront restaurant with gorgeous view; and he was very accommodating to our diet needs and allergies. The hotel is alright, but nothing grand like I was expecting. They don't even offer complementary coffee. You get complementary coffee at the smallest hotels/motels. I'm a rewards member and I even have their credit card. Do you think they could offer free breakfast, nope, you don't get anything from this place. I just can't go above one star for this place. Before I explain why though, let me say that I almost went with two stars solely because of how awesome Antonio Lopez at the pool bar is. He was incredibly nice, attentive to all guests, and just a pleasure to have as a bartender. If a manager of a higher end property happens to read my review, go recruit him away from Courtyard, your guests will love him! So, back to this place. We stayed here one night after Southwest cancelled our flight, thinking hey, it's $200/ni less than either La Concha or Marriott San Juan. I began to regret that decision immediately upon arrival. This property wants to have their cake and eat it to when it comes to whether or not they are a 'resort'. They describe themselves as 'not a full resort', which is why if you have Marriott platinum or above (we had one room booked to a platinum and one room booked to a titanium), your benefits are meaningless. They will not give upgrades of any type for Marriott status, and they will not give you the free breakfast for Plat and Titanium, because they are 'not a full resort'. However, they will happily hit you with a $45/night resort fee, because they're still apparently enough of a resort to charge you a resort fee. There's construction going on in the lobby, which seems to have required disconnecting a bunch of the A/C systems. Rather than bring in portable units, they just put big blower fans everywhere and let the lobby temp reach the mid 80's. We hung out sweating at the lobby cafe waiting for our room to be ready, which we were told would result in a text when that occurred. A few hours later, check again, yes your rooms are ready (we had two). Umm okay, would have been nice to have received the text we were told would let us know that. I also notice a flyer at the check-in desk advising that outside bars have bug repellent available if needed as there are no-see-ums which will bite you. I already knew this because I ordered drinks from the outside bar while we waited and already had bits covering my ankles. Guess I should have looked at that flyer more closely when checking in. If you are not in an oceanfront room, it feels like checking into a dark jail cell. The non-oceanfront rooms are angled outward at awkward angles, they're very dark, and the balconies oddly have two sliding doors instead of a sliding door plus screen door. So, no way to keep the bugs out while enjoying the ocean sounds from the ocean you can barely see, just keep both sets of doors closed. Both the common areas of the floors, and the rooms, smell like mildew. They have a serious humidity control issue here. For this reason, you also have to be very cautious if you don't keep your room set to freezing. Both the shower, and having the balcony door open, can result in the tile floor becoming very slippery. The pool is small and the water flow is insufficient through the skimmers. There's random plant debris floating around, particularly by the bar. However, like I said initially, the pool bar has a great bartender who keeps the drinks flowing, and a grill right behind it so you know the grilled items are coming out fresh. Last but not least, my mom and ten year old were staying in one room, wife and I in another. Apparently someone was having a very vocal argument in the room adjacent to them at 1030pm, they called security, my kid is scared. It quiets down. 1230am, the argument starts again, kids are in that room and crying, and then they start banging on the adjoining door. Now mom and kid are scared, call security again. I wish they'd come and got me, but they didn't and I find this all out the next morning. I don't find banging on an adjoining door acceptable at all, ever, especially after you'd already had security called previously. Those guests should have been moved at the very least, or removed from the property. My mom and kid had trouble getting back to sleep the rest of the night, fearful some crazy person next door was going to bust through the adjoining door. What did the hotel do about this when I'm infuriated about this situation the next morning? "Well, security seems to have taken care of it." That's it, done. read more

Rooms with a view - Look no further! Great views from almost all rooms overlooking the ocean. Staff is kind and welcoming. Private access to beach and the hotel also provides beach towels and chairs - which is a bonus in Sunny Puerto Rico. Pool is great too. We ordered breakfast during all 4 days we lived here and the food was really good. It is sometime convenient to stay in a hotel with good food saves a trip outside when in a rush. Now, the only reason I reduced a star was my room was not clean when I walked in. I found a huge bunch of hair at multiple spots in my room. This is not acceptable for a hotel like Mariott. Parking in this side of town should not be as expensive as $15 per day for self park! Recommend staying here for the view and beach access. read more

We have been coming here since they opened. Always five stars. But now is not the time to come here. Start with the room (ocean front so perhaps not all rooms) teaks of mildew and the issue is so extreme that items are actually wet in the morning. It is further complicated by the noise from the all day long what sounds like loud drilling or jack hammering. It is so bad that I had a business call which I wanted to take from my room on private issues since I am a lawyer. I was told there is no quiet place to take the call because of ongoing construction --which we did not know was happening --instead it was couched on the web site as if it was an improvement and would not at all interfere with our enjoyment. I am renting a room for the day off premises to conduct my business. Come back when the construction is done. Not now. With all of that said, we love the folks who work here, particularly the gentleman at the pool who distributes towels. But the people can not make up for the smell and the noise. It is actually a bit sad since when we arrived , we both thought it was good to "be home again". The review is not meant to hurt the hotel , but rather to help it since absent a real effort to improve , the hotel will go the way of the Ritz Carlton here. Marriott... The best of the best. This Marriott is situated oceanfront. Stunning views from our bedroom. We had to leave our hotel in Old Town due to lack of taxis yesterday because of the San Sebastián Festival. I was apprehensive and disappointed to say the least, but more than pleasantly surprised at the location and grandeur of this Marriott. On site is a grand scale Casino for those who want to partake. They also have three restaurants, one of which actually two are outside facing onto the Ocean. we had a beautiful meal last night, listening to the waves, lapping up on the shore. The staff are super nice and very helpful. We are on the flight path to the airport. It's noisy but I love it. It doesn't bother me at all What a perfect ending to a great vacation in old San Juan. read more

Staff has been great and saw many examples of them being overwhelmed. The hotel because it's not a resort is mediocre at best. Being an elite platinum status holder with Marriott have have been to many of their properties, this one needs help. First of all, this is by the airport, and you can hear planes taking off ALL night long. If that bothers you, look elsewhere. There are double sliding door, but it doesn't dim the noise much. The hotel is nice. There are multiple places to eat or get a drink. There is also a casino (although we didn't check it out other than walk by.) The rooms are fairly large, but the walls are thin. I could hear my neighbor's phone conversation almost clearly. The beach has attendants to put out chairs and umbrellas. The employees work fast and are helpful. My favorite is Fabulous Fernando at the towel station at the pool deck. He is energetic, witty, and helpful. His cheerful demeanor made me smile every time I went to the pool/beach. We enjoyed our stay at the courtyard Marriott beach resort. The beach was absolutely beautiful. It was clean not overly crowded. We had our wedding here. The staff was amazing. Amnel (catering director) was a joy to work with. The staff have no problem dancing with you are your event/reception. We all, staff included, had a great time. It was our first time in San Juan and we will definitely be back. We had room 225 which has a great and close view of the beach. The Las Breias covered reception area opens up to the beach as well. So much to say about this property. The swim up bar was wonderful, hot tub was clean, the staff was friendly even though there were understaffed they made it work. read more

This hotel is located right in front of a beautiful beach. The hotel is very clean and the staff on the pool/beach area were super nice too. We ordered pizza from the hotel restaurant and it was delicious. We got chicken Alfredo and pepperoni pizza and both were crispy and well done. The pool bar was great too. We mostly got beer buckets and tequila shots but the cocktails seemed pretty good. Great experience. I would like to be back sometime in the future. I'm impressed with so many things and disappointed about so many others but first let me take a selfie lol let's begin with the good things. We booked and highly anticipated our first trip to Puerto Rico. We were looking forward to supporting the island. This Courtyard, while not being a full service hotel, has a great location on the beach and many amenities of a resort. Given its proximity to airport, one might wonder, do you hear the arriving and departing aircraft? Wonder no more-you do. You hear them. You feel them. It's a busy airport. If you are looking for a quiet hotel, look further. This is not the hotel you're looking for. We also had the good fortune of having a room next to the ice machine. Noisy as well. We've lived in large cities so noise doesn't bother us as much as some. The rooms are functional but in need of updates specially the tubs . The pool is the shining star. It's newer, open 24 hours and has a heater so the water is the perfect temperature 24/7. Everything associated with the pool is first class. Mother Nature's bigger pool is just a few steps on the beach away. The beach itself is public and well maintained. The hotel posts signs warning about sand fleas/ no-see-ems on the beach. Even going so far as to have a can of bug repellent spray available for communal use at the front desk. Nice touch and much needed. The hotel has abundant seating areas and manages the beach chairs and umbrellas well. No rushing out in the morning to claim your spot. You can stroll out at anytime and be assured you have a chair and umbrella. Sirena the outdoor restaurant has a scavenger bird problem. The birds are abundant and aggressive in their search of discarded food landing right on your table, picking from your plate if you aren't watchful. The staff does their best to push them out and keep the tables and chairs free of bird poop, but sadly they are outgunned and outnumbered. The menu was as uninspired as any Marriott. It's the same food you would get at the Courtyard Akron, Ohio. While no one goes to Marriott's for their trendy restaurants, it would nice to have at least some local dishes and some PR music playing. (Instead it's the standard instrumental version of 80's hits that fill an elevator cab near you). The main restaurant has the typical breakfast buffet. Juice out of cartons, food is heat and eat, with the exception of the omelette station. There's also a coffee bar and lobby bar. We were told before the hurricanes, the hotel activated the lobby are offered live music, salsa lessons and other offerings. While we were there, they had the disco lights on, but nothing going on. There is also a room off the lobby which is the "casino" if you want to try your luck. The staff is exceedingly friendly and helpful. Warm and gracious. Unfortunately, sometimes the service delivery itself falls flat. We had already set our watches to run on 'island time'; however, any service call required at least two calls sometimes three or as many as five. We did bring our concerns to management during our stay. They were apologetic and did their best to resolve the specific issues. Unlike many resort locations, it is very difficult to line up tours or excursions onsite. There is a tour desk, but there are not a lot of options. Suggest you try to get these in order before arriving. Vieques is nearly impossible without a car to get to a ferry that runs when it wants to, or a very expensive tour $200++/pp) Ferry tickets are only $6.00, BUT has a $20 booking fee and you take your chances. Puerto Rico the island is well worth your visit and support. This hotel overall is okay. There's plenty to do, see, or just hang out at the beach. read more

Large place, very big hotel and they do have paid parking on the premisses, I am not a huge fan of hotels that do that to guests because if you are staying there paying for the night, this is definitely a way to bully your customer into giving you more money cause in the end they have not much choice. Checking in you will receive some casino vouchers as well as a couple of drink tickets. the drink tickets will get you a couple of Pina coladas. Amazing beach access, as you walk across the hotel past the lobby , the casino, bar and restaurant you will find the beach!! amazing beautiful beach. amazing view. Outdoor pool, with beach view! Casino,there is a casino inside the hotel, and as I said above, they give you a voucher and you can use it there, I didn't but I gave it to my friends. Breakfast 18 dollars, but the breakfast was sort of worth it, I mean if you do not have a car to go around the town it can be very handy. overall this is a very nice and fancy hotel. but I think that for this town it was a bit too fancy, not that the town don't deserve it but it takes the charm out of the area, that's just my opinion. the rooms themselves were not impressive at all, they were pretty standard and I expected more for shock fancy lobby and leisure areas. Although I still think they are amazing with the internet TV, but that and other room features i can find in their low end brands. The staff was super nice and friendly, however I have a ps to come. PS: I am a gold member and this goes to all brands of this chain of hotels, I have never heard any of the staff in any of their branches even mentioned about the complementary upgrade in room. I wonder what is up with that, this is a gold feature that is widely ignored and when asked for the I have the feeling I am asking for a favor. I hope they get around to change that. Employees are pretty great. Nice and professional. That's where the good ends. The hotel itself is VERY run down. Rooms have worn out carpet, dirty floors, dirty floor trim. Pretty gross. They have a band that plays until 11pm and it is very loud. Forget about sleep or relaxation before 11. The place is a trashy low down pit. Tried to watch a sports game in bar....they could only access one channel. read more

Amazing resort this is one of the nicest Courtyard Marriotts I have been to. As a gold member elite I got upgraded to a top floor ocean view room on recent spring break. Right on the beach!!! Staff was amazing and friendly. There is also a casino in this hotel. Food prices in the restaurant were fair and tasty. Good COVID practices. Great part of being on the beach is that the resort includes chairs and umbrellas for no extra charge. Be ware however that in Addition to your nightly room rate and taxes most resorts add on a $25-30 a day "resort fee". That's how much it is here. Some resorts can be as much as $100 extra a day!!! Marriott does it right. This used to be a nicer higher brad hotel but due to Marriott also owning the Ritz Carlton down the street they branded it as a Courtyard due to their corporate rules. read more

12/2/22: Last time I stayed here was in 2018, It was a great stay. Based on that stay, I looked forward to visiting this property. It was her first visit to the Island and my birthday. We got set up in a great room, and the valet staff was great. We enjoyed eating on site, spending time at the beach and the pool. She enjoyed playing at the casino. The proximity to the airport was a plus for our return trip home. read more
