I hate to do this but there were just too many missed steps and overriding conditions which were unacceptable.. So, 2 stars it is. 1st... Why was another guests' shampoo bottle in our bath tub? This raises the question IF our bathroom had been serviced? 2nd... Our toilet sticks running water to refill. The flap doesn't seat correctly. So it can't refill as it should and shut off. Fiddling with handle after opening the top to inspect (not adjust) is unacceptable. 3rd... No tissue paper box in bathroom. So our bathroom was NOT serviced or had received the worst servicing I've seen in recent decades. 4th... for a Marriott courtyard this is the least plush ever in my memory. I'm taking bed comfort with top & linens & the whole vibe from entry to room (exception was the charming sultry check in girl late night)... It goes down as the least Marriott courtyard like ever... But better then many other hotels in junction city by far, I'm sure. So why 3 stars... It's got "the bones" and facilities, space and style for being a healthy cut above and beyond other hotels. Plus ALL the staff encountered were supremely courteous, engaging and friendly. From direct engagement at the check in late night (did I mention how charismatic and dare I say sultry the young lady was?)... to chatting with the cafe staff about the virtues of french toast vs the breakfast burrito, naked juice vs a Starbucks frappe? Yeah... I can ignore the defects as I just asked for a tissue box at the front desk... I 1st checked a housekeeping cart for a tissue box (none) while glimpsing the fellow scrubbing the bath tub in the room he was servicing. That dispelled my concerns that my room had not been serviced with the broken off bottle + what looked like a left behind bottle of shampoo. I'm going to dismiss it as ... Things in need of immediate attention... The toilet, the broken off dispenser in shower tip & such. The other things like staff professionalism + charm... plus the indirect contact with staff, one young lady was just walking past... Eye contact with a genuine smile & "good morning"... Yes... Wow. As expected and welcoming, as simple as that! I want to give 4 stars ... But the flaws were... Quite significant. 3 is fair and powered forward by the staff... Did I mention the "vexing" late night check in young lady? Oh yeah... That's 3x now. I get it.... Ok, time to move on to the next city with yelp reviews on my road trip from Grand rapids where I picked up a new used Highlander hybrid ... Heading to Dallas where I'm at now... And on to Westlake Village CA, home. Funny, last week at this time Monday we were hustling for our bus from Paris by ferry to London. The French train workers were in a "wild cat" undeclared strike canceling our TGV bullet train, plus German train workers were striking! ... Forcing us to scramble for transportation alternatives. Sigh... Now I'm headed for a short 4 hour drive to Grand junction.... Then Vegas Tuesday night, and home Wed. And did I mention the intensely charming young lady at check in here in junction city? My email response to Marriott customer care Chis Down is the manager and Raquel Cinco is over events. Both have been a major disappointment. My Letter to Customer Care: From the very beginning, I noticed a severe lack of communication from the hotel's management. Despite my repeated attempts to contact them regarding the arrangements for my wife's milestone celebration, I received no response. This lack of communication caused significant stress and uncertainty leading up to the event, which should have been a joyous occasion. On the day of the celebration, the situation only worsened. The staff members at the hotel were unprofessional and provided subpar service. The food served during the event was shockingly cold, which was not only disappointing but also unacceptable considering the significance of the occasion. The 70 guests who attended the event were also extremely dissatisfied and displeased with the quality of the food, which was served at a temperature far below acceptable standards. Furthermore, during my conversation with the general manager of the Courtyard by Marriott Junction City, located at 310 Hammons Dr, Junction City, KS 66441, I was shocked by his conduct. He accused us of bringing glitter into the facility, even though I repeatedly explained that we had not brought any such thing. I even urged him to review our agreement and contract, which clearly stated that we had the event until 11 o'clock that evening. Eventually, he begrudgingly admitted his mistake but continued to argue with me. I found his unprofessional behavior deeply concerning and felt that it shed light on why the staff at the hotel acted in the manner they did. To clarify, the incident involving glitter was simply due to a young lady who had a dress on with glittery material. It was not something we intentionally brought into the facility, as confirmed by our contract and agreement. Therefore, in light of the complete disregard for customer service, the unacceptable quality of the event, including the cold food served to the 70 guests, and the unprofessional conduct of the general manager, I kindly request a total refund for the unsatisfactory experience my wife, the guests, and I had at the Courtyard by Marriott Junction City. I believe it is only fair and appropriate considering the level of service and quality of the event that was provided. I spoke with the manager (Chris Down) prior to me contacting Customer Care. Chris never emailed me with contact information as he promised on Monday. Situations like this are what I have been dealing with from the beginning. To refresh your memory, I had asked Chris for a contact number for Marriott since he said he would not refund me anything, and his reply was he did not know how or who to call if a customer had a complaint or issues with the hotel. After asking a second time, he stated he would email it to me, which has not happened. As you know, I have since found a workable number and email address on my own. My interaction with Chris has been nothing but stressful. When I called him, the staff asked me my name, came back to the phone, and told me Chris was in a meeting and would return my call. When he returned my call, he immediately went on the defense, and it was nothing short of a nightmare. I expected more from the General Manager of a major corporation such as the Marriott. He was degrading, insulting, and used statements such as "Up People" and "Your Kind of People." I found this to be very derogatory when used toward African Americans as myself. I listened to him rage, interrupt, and rant about how my guest (Church Family and friends with an average age of 60) treated his staff and asked for things constantly throughout the night. I listened to him make false accusations about the serving time of the food and when we started eating. I informed him that I had time dated photos and videos to prove my point, but he refused to acknowledge them and only stated he believed his staff. I went on to ask if I could show him the photos of the food that was served, and the enormous amount of food left by my guest due to it basically being uneatable, and he refused. I have tried to keep this local and settle locally by only dealing with Chris. As of today, I have asked my guests to refrain from posting their frustration through statements, videos and pictures on social media, Yelp, Marriott Customer Reviews and the Convention and Visitor bureau. As I told Chris, I like patronizing and supporting local businesses in my city. but Courtyard Marriott in Junction City has not made it easy. read more

Absolutely miserable experience here. We booked through Priceline and it was reviewed as exceptionally clean. It was the absolute opposite. I'm genuinely worried about getting bed bugs. To late to switch rooms and they don't offer refunds. There is soap in the bath tub from the previous people which leads me to believe it wasn't cleaned properly. The blankets are filthy. Staff is incredibly rude. I had called to get blankets, sheets and pillows for the pull out bed (should have already been in the room available) and the balding man at the front told me to come downstairs to get it myself. 140$ for one night for a room that is absolutely filthy and to deal with rude staff read more

I had to dismiss my earlier review because every single issue in that review was addressed in such a manner I felt it was no longer valid. Management, maintenance, staff all pulled together and went beyond fixing the issues I encountered. Rarely do teams try to admit to service errors to this degree. You only get one chance to make a first impression and the young lady at the front desk blew it when the wife walks up and says I am Here for my reservation and gives her name and instead or Welcome to the Courtyard and it looks as though.....blah blah...she holds up a room key and says do you want one of these. (Room key) Then we got held up in the lobby due to the fact they did not read the special request about being on the upper floor and the manager showed up and apologized about the delay, we had room on 2nd floor perfect and we had to change to the 3rd and we wanted to make sure it was right for you. We get to the room and it looks good but again they missed or did not read the special request section, specifically 5 pillows and foam not feather due to allergies. There were no extra pillows and they were all feather. Devil is in the details and this place doesn't have a clue. The housekeeper on the 3rd floor is listening to tv program on his phone but very helpful. I would in my opinion put all of these issues on lax management/leadership. We love Marriott and we may not stay here again but most Marriotts are in a different league. I was going to leave it there but, we came in last night and did not stop to get wine, we will get it from the dining area at the hotel we walked in and it was closed. So we asked the front desk guy why was it not advertised it was going to be closed. He said he did not know, then after another couple of mins he said it was closed because the stove was broken. I think what happened is The manager (Jason) likes to have his staff like him so he gave them the night off. Why do I say that well we went through the dining room and it was open. Then we came back from breakfast and I asked one of the kitchen staff when did you get the stove fixed, he said our stove was not broken.?. The point is even it had been you could have been open for cold drinks. So the evening front desk person either lied to us or was told by management to lie to customers either way unacceptable. If I could give zero stars I would. This establishment has the absolute worst customer service I have experienced in Junction City. We booked the convention center for an event. Food was TERRIBLE, and staff were extremely unprofessional and not helpful. This experience made what was supposed to be an amazing birthday celebration horrible and embarrassing. Very nice locations and facility. Modern clean and spacious lobby. Some service issues. Business center computers didn't work so could not print critical document. Luggage carts are junk. Wheels don't work and hard to push and maneuver. At times the front desk acts like it's an inconvenience if you need something. Asked where is the laundry. They told me I went to laundry room and there is a sign "complimentary detergent at front desk". So I had to go back to front desk. Why not just give me some up front? read more

Darn if only I would have read the reviews on yelp and not just google I would not have stayed here!!! It's just a hotel room with 2 beds, my first Upgraded 2 queen suit came with no hot water and a surprise on the pillow , it was a shit stain! Yes a shit stain! On the pillow case! It wasn't changed or wasn't washed I dont know, so they offered me a new room very nice of them, the second room had hot water and no poo poo on the pillow case but the bath tub was painted! Not sure why they would put water base paint in the tub, but it was completely painted! It came mostly off when I took my first not very relaxing shower. It wasn't relaxing because I kept thinking of what else could they be covering up? Maybe someone pissed in the coffee machine instead of using water? At this point anything is possible. Just a real bad place to spend 94$ a night, but I'm here for training and the gov booked this hotel! I guess I shouldn't expect anything different from people abusing government money! So if you read this review you have been warned. I dont have any other details on the other hotels in the area but there are a few more, I hear staying in Manhattan Kansas is better but I wont know until next trip out here, I just know I will never stay here again read more

I went through the whole process of getting a job there. Did a phone call interview, went in for an interview person interview, got the call that they wanted me. I was told to fill out paperwork they would email, and to go to orientation. I never got any emails, it was my fault to assume that could be cleared up at orientation. I showed up and had to listen to HR talk to the WHOLE staff in front of me as well as whoever was having rooms there about how they weren't looking for me they were looking for someone else. Got pulled back into the HR office where I was told I wasn't even supposed to show up. Was not told I wasn't supposed to show up. Followed by a i should have called when I didn't get my emails, because they moved on. I never got a call that anyone moved on, I wasn't told not to show up if I didn't have the emails. I was not only publicly humiliated in the lobby, but privately humiliated by HR. I have children at home and am currently pregnant. I wasted a bit of my time thinking I had a job when I could have been looking for a different job elsewhere. I may be a bit dramatic maybe, we could blame the hormones, but they could have been way more professional than that. The front desk was friendly though, the place is upkept, it's peaceful and quiet so props for that. HR should be better at communicating, it's not just the enthusiastic people looking for jobs that should be communicating better, but the hiring people as well. read more

Highly do not recommend this venue to book a large event. Very low staffed, event coordinator is hardly involved in the day of planning, and not adequate equipment/supplies to support. Before signing a contract, they said they can support over 800 people in their space. But they barely could support 550 people attending our military ball because the lack of tables, pitchers, centerpieces. Staff tried getting away with reusing dirty tablecloths from the event prior. I had volunteers come and set up silverware/glassware/centerpieces because it wasn't going to get done on time. We paid 25% in service charge fee (almost $4,000) but we did most of the service ourself. I hope no one experiences event planning like that. read more

Great hotel! We booked a suite for 1 night and the room was huge, clean, and extremely quiet. We had a few perks in the suite including a fridge, coffee maker, pull out desk, and a big armchair. Also, the complementary toiletries were all Paul Mitchell so no need to unpack a bunch of stuff! My only bummer was breakfast. It was not included. We drove from NorCal to Western KY and stayed at 4 Marriotts and this was the only one without breakfast included. Which was my fault for not checking when booking online BUT the real irritation for me was being told at check in breakfast was from 7-11am. Nothing else. So we came down for breakfast and searched but the whole place was empty. Finally I went to the front desk and asked. I could tell the guy though it was obvious but he politely pointed to a counter that looked like a Starbucks. So we go over and there is a menu with prices. Not bad prices but the same as you pay for breakfast anywhere and with a real Starbucks, Cracker Barrel, and a few other places nearby we opted to head out for a bite elsewhere. read more

The biggest draw backs were the small, 24 hour fitness room (that opens at 6am), the pool wasn't working, and the laundry room was out of order as well. I picked this hotel because it was about half way along my 2-day drive and allowed pets. I was traveling with my husband, daughter, and dog. So this seemed like a good bet. Plus it has a restaurant inside, meaning I wouldn't have to try and wrangle a small child and a dog around the idea of going out and getting dinner. Wrong. When we showed up, the restaurant was dark. If the public areas of their Convention Center is any indication this has to be the worst Marriott property Ive ever seen. The restrooms are filthy, perfumed to hide the stench from the dirt ground into the floor and walls. The lighting is a mismash of light temps that show no consideration of the quality associated with the Marriott Brand. Linnens on the tables are dingy and placed hap hazard every which way with no attention to detail. Carpeting... well its carpet but has it been cleaned since the place opened? Then there is the dingy dirty exterior, the exterior lights that were not on to welcome guests when they arrived for an event starting an hour before sun rise. Then there is the signage at the enterance that wasnt lit during darkness... Like I said, the WORST Marriott Brand property Ive ever seen across the country. read more

I am so pleasantly surprised with this hotel! Having had a rough travel day, I arrived at the hotel and grumpily thought it looked like a typical side-of-the-highway budget place. Snort. Well, when I walked in, I immediately saw, smelled and felt how new, warm and CLEAN this hotel is. First, of all, everything, right down to the shower curtain, was new and beautiful. When I checked in, there were 2 people dusting and cleaning the lounge area and it smelled like Lemon-Pledge-Pine-Sol goodness. There wasn't a speck of dust anywhere in the hotel, I swear! I know because I am extremely sensitive to dust and I didn't cough or wheeze once! The staff was also so warm and welcoming (everyone in Kansas seemed to be this way). The icing on the cake: A gorgeous, clean, heated indoor pool and hot tub, a very solid fitness room and a good breakfast buffet for under $8. Ok, the nice big LG HD TVs in the room are pretty nice as well. read more

Nice clean room, quiet night and the staff member was friendly and efficient when we checked in and upon leaving the next morning. Plenty of gas and quick stop food places surround the hotel. Rooms were fine. Some hotel staff acted as if you were bothering them if you needed anything. The breakfast and Bistro is a joke. Takes 30 minutes at least to get a order in. Not sure why you advertise a bistro if you cant handle more than 2 people at a time. I see why it was the only name brand hotel that had rooms available in town. read more

After a long hard day of house hunting, I was expecting to see fresh clean towels and a clean room when I opened my door. Unfortunately, I was given a bunch of lies from the staff on why they didn't clean my room. One staff member said I had a do not disturb sign up and the "maintenance engineer" said my dog...who was locked in his kennel...was whinning. Now which one was it? Did I have a do not disturb sign up or did they use my mild mannered dog as an excuse to not clean the room. If the staff have an issue with pets, they need to fix the policy or find other employees who don't have a problem with pets that are properly secured in the rooms when the owners are away. As a Platinum Elite member, I have had the opportunity to stay in multiple hotels and I am disappointed with this one. Never again...never again. read more

I've been staying with Marriott for years and spend a lot of time traveling for work. This hotel is nice but does have a few issues. This is my 3rd time staying here and there seems to always be something small but it adds up. One of the treadmills needs to be serviced, the water spout in my room doesn't work well and this Marriott does not offer any type of free breakfast. I'm a platinum member and stay over 100 days a year with Marriott and would be nice for them to at least offer some type of free breakfast for their loyal members. All and all not a bad hotel but not up to par with other Marriotts that I'm use to. read more

They say they are pet friendly, but they are pet gougers. I have stayed at many hotels across the country with 1-3 dogs. I have always paid from $10-25 for a pet fee. At this hotel, the room rate was around $80 but the pet fee for one dog was $75 +tax!!!! What a ripoff!!! read more

Honestly. I have no idea what anyone is complaining about. The front desk was wonderful and took a minute to give me recommendations on places to eat. Next, the room was perfect. Beds are comfy. A/C works great. Have a sliding door to the courtyard featuring a horse show pit. Nice. A grill and plenty of relaxed seating and a nice smoking area. Thus far every staff member and the hotel itself has been top shelf. No stains. No chipped paint or tape on the ceiling. The pool is excellent. They even have a few water toys for the kids. Absolutely amazing customer service. I'm guessing those giving bad reviews are competition or are paid to give crap reviews. That and some of the complaints are absolutely absurd. If you need a foam pillow, f@*%kin' bring one. Whiny people with no true sense of reality only complain this way. This is a quality hotel located close to eateries and a liquor store if need be. What a surprise! This place was terrific. I was in the area for a K-State football game and couldn't find an affordable hotel room in Manhattan. Some hotels in Junction City also seemed to be increasing their prices that weekend because of the game. Not the Courtyard Marriott though! We got a nice, clean room for under $100, a fantastic breakfast, and nice & helpful staff. I had my doubts about staying in Junction City but I was pleasantly surprised! Stayed here on the way to Denver. The hotel and rooms were clean, modern, and comfortable. Cheaper to stay here than in the same place in Salina. Breakfast is not included, which is fine with us since we prefer to not eat with plastic plates and utensils. We would definitely stay here again as a road trip stop over. read more

I am literally cringing sitting in this room. If we weren't exhausted with two kids I would be making my husband drive 2 more hours to somewhere or anywhere else. Tape all over the ceiling of our room, pull out couch is stained on the mattress and the cushions. The carpets are stained. A door fell off one of our cabinets. The drain plug doesn't work... and the tub is chipping. It reeks in this room a light bulb is missing out of one of the lamps. Stains all over the dust ruffles. The list feels never ending... I feel like it's poorly maintained walk through anywhere in the hotel, even the elevator and you see stained carpets. Seriously not my favorite place. Marriott should send someone to look at this place as a surprise visit. read more

I am a lifetime Marriott gold member. Been a Marriott club member well over 25 years. The hotel was nice. We checked out thinking everything was fine. I noticed a $3 charge on my credit card. When I inquired about the charge I was told it was for the bottled water I took from the room. I never take bottled water from a hotel room unless it is free. I bring my own so I do not have to pay the exorbitant price. They would not credit the $3. Not sure who is lying if it is the maid (whom we left a nice tip), the front desk or the manager but I surely know it is not me! read more

The hotel room was at the very least disgusting. I was visiting my daughter who was having a baby. Upon entering the hotel room it smelled of smoke and I open the window and turned on the air conditioning to make it more breathable. I was very limited on time because I had to get to the hospital and I didn't really want to complain because it was something that with some work on my end could be remedied very easily. I spent the night at the Hospital and went back the next evening to use the shower and noticed several blood splatter spots on the ceiling in the shower. Absolutely disgusting but as I mentioned before I didn't have a lot of time to address the situation because I had other things going on. When I did mention it to the front desk man on 3rd Shift he was very rude with me and told me that if I had a problem with the room I should have addressed it in the first 12 hours I had the room. I thought this was an illogical policy but I chalked it up to rhe rest of the hotels unprofessionalism thus far. Upon leaving the room after two nights I noticed a charge for a hundred dollars more than what I was told i was going to b charged. Hours later another charge for almost $200 and I was already back in Missouri at my house which is 5 hours away from the hotel. When I called them they stated that they thought I was being dishonest and was still in the room! Unbelievable to be so misinformed and non observant on their part. I was told to speak to the general manager to take care of the charges and of course still have yet to receive an apology from the rude front desk staff. I tried numerous times to get in contact with the general manager at this hotel and have had no success. I will address it with my credit card company. I guess I should have checked out and going to the Hilton the second I realized what a disaster this hotel was. read more

I had a reservation secured with a credit card but they gave it away anyhow. I am also a lifetime Marriott member and a current Gold member and have stayed over 500 nights with Marriott and have never had my reservation given away. If this hotel does this to its most loyal members, look out if you are just someone looking for a hotel room for the night. read more
