A proper cafe. Great espresso, pastries and hot food. It will be my morning stop any time I'm back in QB.

This is a great cafe to grab a coffee, any other hot drinks &/or something tasty to eat. Word to…read morethe wise, kitchen shuts an hour prior to actual closing time. So no tasty sandwiches that last hour. However, you can still order the remaining baked treats that last hour there open (& really, that's not a bad thing if you have a sweet tooth!). The layout feels like it's two shops & allows for lots mixed seating & one great long table with giant benches. This also means one needs to be able to navigate through tighter spots easily if you're sitting down before your order is ready (or for my friends that look for accessible work arounds, going through the doors opposite to the sign suggestions to avoid any unfortunate drink/food disasters would be a good strategy). There's separate entrance/exit doors but the way the long line up to order occurs inside, the exit door is smarter to enter into the cafe (if you're able). There's also some tables outside along the street & a bench along the wall. If the weather is decent, I usually opt for that outside option. Otherwise, I prepare myself for a louder cafe experience being that this location is busy right to the end of the day. The staff is always friendly here. I greatly appreciate that the cashier took time to ask about any soy in certain baked treat options I was considering (after finding out I couldn't do a tasty turkey sandwich I was hoping for). In the past I've enjoyed breakfast sandwiches & lunch sandwiches. Both worthy of me to return to enjoy again. Being that it's awhile since I stopped here, I opted to try their seasonal latte. Usually I go with their tasty mocha. So I have to say for all the spices listed in the drink, I really didn't taste the difference between that special seasonal latte & a regular latte. However, still a very decent latte & gave me the needed caffeine boost after wandering through my first QB Christmas market before stopping at the cafe. As Qualicum Beach is known for their senior population, this place (like many others) has the basics checked off for accessibility. However, if I had anyone joining me with a walker or wheelchair, I would definitely suggest we find a table first & then I would go up to order for everyone. This being even with a cane, I find it is really hard to navigate back to the tables once you've got the order. They have a small bathroom tucked at the back but you need to be able to navigate around many tables to reach it. The lightning never bothers my eyes in here but at full capacity, anyone with hearing issues or noise sensitivity would have issues. Overall, a decent local place with a lot of regular tasty menu items.

Waitress walked off and never came back with my water. Had to track her down twice to request water before I finally got water. Ordered basted eggs with English muffin, got eggs over medium with whole grain toast. Politely said, I actually ordered English muffin, (did not mention that I didn't order fried eggs) she said "are you sure you don't want the toast? I said, no, I would like the English muffin. She walked off and served several other tables and started filling their drink orders. My husband tracked down a different person to get my English muffin, by then my not basted eggs were cold. I get it, mistakes happen to the best of us. A simple acknowledgment or apology would have been welcome, but not a word. It made me feel like I was the one being difficult and I hate being that person. It isn't cheap eats, so I simply wanted what I paid for. The fried potato hash towns were tasty and well seasoned, the eggs (however they were cooked) were good enough. Overall the food is what you expect for a traditional breakfast. If you don't expect amazing service you will enjoy the meal well enough.

You order from the kitchen at the counter and they bring to food out to you. The case looked to be full of tasty treats and reasonably priced. K had the skillet which came with toast that was so good. The skillet itself contained a good amount of food that was very nicely cooked. My bacon and eggs came with a choice of hash browns or toast. I chose the has browns and added a side of sourdough. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the bacon nice and crispy as specified, along with a slice of tomato and some fresh basil which was a nice touch. My London Fog left a little to be desired, but that was but a small blemish in an otherwise excellent breakfast/brunch! If you are in Parksville I'd heartily recommend the Brazen Poppy Bakery Cafe. We'll be stopping on our way to Victoria tomorrow for sure.

The floors look to be original hardwood, and there are lots of beams and logs to see. I personally love the old style look, but it might not be to everyone taste. The service is quite good, our server especially, although it did seem like one individual was more interested in polishing glasses and not running food or bussing tables. He was a little passive aggressive with another staff member when he did run a couple of plates, came back and said "see that wasn't that hard." Not a good look. The food was quite good, although we felt, this time like the last, it was a little on the expensive side. It is quite a tourist mecca just outside of Parksville so that's likely part of the reason. It's also quite busy so clearly people are willing to pony up. We had the soup of the days Chantrelle mushroom soup. Evidently those mushroom are very plentiful in the area this time of year. It was quite good, creamy for sure, but we would have liked some more noticeable bits of mushroom. We also shared a Caprese salad which needed more balsamic and a little salt. The capers were a nice add. We finished with Margherita pizza which was nicely cooked and finished with fresh basil. Can't believe I am saying this, but there was too much cheese on it and maybe a little shy on the tomato sauce. Peroni beer on tap is a total winner for me. Have been twice, might go again, but likely not.

We stumbled upon this place after a quick Google search for nearby breweries and I am so glad my friends and I came across this gem! Upon entering, I immediately noticed the vibrant lush greenery hanging from the ceiling - love!! The restaurant oozes cozy but nature-y vibes and we were very excited to try their signature brews. We waited briefly to be sat on the patio. After being seated, a kind waitress immediately came over and gave us suggestions on drinks. While my friends are avid beer drinkers, I myself prefer ciders so I ordered the watermelon smash and it was so yummy! My friend also loved her flight which featured a variety of different beers. The oceanside lager was the overall favourite in the entire group. Another honourable mention was the fuzzy peach tasting beer which I really enjoyed despite not being a beer drinker. My boyfriend and I ordered the chowder and ribs to share. Despite the food taking quite some time to arrive, it was well worth the wait. My pick is definitely the chowder as it was packed with seafood and flavour! The added bannock was also very delicious - we shared it with our friends and they ended up devouring most of it haha. I recommend this place especially if you're not from around the area as it has great ambiance and food.
