I stayed here once before at Christmas and decided to stay again because the last visit was terrific. I was only here for one night (December 25, 2025) and arrived around 2pm to drop my stuff before heading over to my cousin's house. Susan (almost positive that was here name, but maybe Sandra?) checked me in, my room was very clean and even had two bottles of water and a bag of potato chips. I was up very early the next morning to get back to Boston and left around 5:30am, but my shower was nice and the hotel was very quiet. This is a great location just off of 84 and so convenient to West Hartford! read more

Room= 1 star Service was fine but my gosh golly the room was disgusting. I got a King Suite and the bathroom wreaked of that sweat smell bc of the lack of ventilation. I kept the vent on all day every day and it barely made a dent in making it a livable space. There's a long dip in the tub, so if you shower, there will be a pond of water in the middle left. Gross. My main issue was the bathroom. The microwave and fridge is always a welcome touch. I usually pick up breakfast items to leave in the fridge and did so this time but shouldn't have, considering they sell breakfast from the cafe where they also serve Starbucks (the coffee is terrible- always tasted burnt). The lobby was fine and the hotel as a whole was meh. Wouldn't stay here again on my next run. read more

This is an average Courtyard with plenty of amenities. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The only complaint that I have is the hot water - which did not come out until running the water for over 5 minutes and was never hot. They probably need a better water heater. read more

Even though we arrived after check in time, our room was not ready. We were there for an occasion but there was no hot water and no other rooms available so we were unable to shower. There was also no manager to speak with. When we called to share our negative experience, we were offered 2000 Marriott points (and for reference, in their catalog, a cutting board is 16,000 points.) This Courtyard does not seem to be consistent with the standards that I expect from Courtyards in general. Rooms were clean but outdated. The front desk was in disarray with boxes and things stacked everywhere. The front desk was manned sporadically as we came in and out. The lobby has the most unusual and uncomfortable furniture arranged in strange groupings. So while this was a serviceable hotel, it is not something I would try to use again for the money. read more

If you're looking for a simple hotel to stay one night this will do. But also, I'm sure you could find better. Look, the rooms were cheap and the parking lot was full. The king room we purchased for a one night stay was set up in such a bizarre way. There was hair on the toilet, and we woke up in the middle of the night smelling cigarette smoke. So so gross. When choosing to stay at a hotel during COVID you want to it to feel extremely sterile. We really didn't get that here. It's a Courtyard. We weren't looking for bougee-just clean. I'd suggest looking elsewhere if you're going to drop $100. read more

I booked seven rooms for my staff to work in the area and everyone commented on how nice the rooms were. The lighting was cool, the furniture was modern and the beds were great. Damien at the front desk had a great attitude and made us feel welcome...which impressed me even more when he said that he was working until 11:00 pm and then was back at 7:00 the next morning. Stayed one night to visit Mark Twain museum with my daughter. Room is fairly standard. We were excited about the indoor heated pool. Pool is rather small but better than nothing I suppose. Whirlpool smelled musty and jets were tired and ineffective. The pool room ceiling vents also seemed to be moldy. read more

Jaylee was amazing answering any questions I had, and even brought me towels up expeditiously. Jason Lee's customer service was above and beyond my expectations. His food is as good and actually better than some of the restaurants. He even gave me great advice on where to stay during my 13 week contract here in Connecticut. From the outside its looks like your typical eh Courtyard Marriott. From the inside- Yowza! It's gorgeous. Room was beautiful. Lighting was even good (I could see my eyes when putting on my mascara which is a hard feat these day with hotel lighting) So I'm assuming the older negative reviews are from before the renovation. Regarding the "free" buffet breakfast that they used to have. It's gone. Basically they removed it from the price of your room and if you want breakfast it's an additional $10. No more buffet. You can eat it in the bistro or your room. My only gripe was the coffee. I'm not too sure why everyone thinks Starschmucks is the only thing that makes a day beautiful and problem free. Stayed at the hotel last night. Our stay was perfectly fine, but when we were checking out, an older woman was talking to the front desk person and I overheard the women asking the attendant if the hotel had security camera tapes and the attendant telling her to call the police. We weren't sure what the interaction was all about until we walked to our car and saw her car. The car was up on 4 blocks and all four wheels had been stolen! What upset us the most was how uncaring the attendant at the front desk was. Here were 3 older ladies who had stayed at the hotel and walked out to find their car to find it without wheels and they basically didn't provide any help or support. They were stranded with no car! And, I have heard this type of activity is not a rare occurrence at this hotel. Why would anyone want to stay at a hotel with uncaring staff and a known theft problem? That is not what I want from the hotels that I stay in and I will never stay at this hotel again, but I will continue to stay at other Marriotts as I am a loyal Bonvoy member. read more

Stayed here because my friend was getting married in Simsbury and I got a way better price here than at Avon Old Farms with the room block she had reserved. Having lived in Connecticut my whole life until last year I was pretty satisfied when Priceline spit out this hotel for $75/night for Farmington/West Hartford area. Straight shot up Route 10 to the venue after hopping on 84 to exit 39. The room was huge and clean(*) and very quiet for being on the ground floor. Bed was comfy, although the blankets were a bit thin. We enjoyed using the pool and hot tub - both nights we went in there at about 10pm and not a soul was in there, which quite frankly surprised me because on the 2nd night the parking lot was PACKED when we got back from the wedding. The bathroom was nice, the tub/shower was a good size and I liked the lighting. Now to address the cleanliness asterisk. The day we arrived the room was sparkling. The 2nd day, after a visit from housekeeping, the room was clean but there were some minor issues. There was a random Frito sitting on the weird shelf-y thing that was attached to the armoire. Neither of us had eaten Fritos...so either the housekeeper was having a snack and forgot to clean up or somehow tracked in additional crap from cleaning another room. It could be worse. Then when we got up after the 2nd night and was gathering everything up to head back home, BF goes "what's that on my pillow?" I look at it and it's a faded blood stain. It was clearly old and had seen bleach more than a few times (and lord knows blood is kind of hard to remove from cloth) so I wasn't terribly grossed out, any pathogens are long gone...my reaction was more like "ew really, come on guys!" I'm sure Marriott in general gets an uber discount on bed linens...they should have just tossed the pillowcase IMO. If we were staying another night I probably would have said something to the front desk - and if we had noticed the night before I definitely would have, but we were both exhausted and literally crawled into bed after changing out of our bathing suits post hot tub. This was discovered literally 5 minutes before we checked out. I would stay there again, especially at the price I paid. I can't comment about the Bistro in the lobby, we ate Panera (across the street) the first day for breakfast and met one of BF's friends for breakfast at a diner on our way home. read more

We checked in only to be told that they had no pillows for the pullout in our room. Our reservation included our child, we had one bed and the pullout, and I don't know why they thought this was ok. The pullout was so uncomfortable that our child ended up sleeping on the floor. He was miserable, and we all lost a ton of sleep. When we checked out, another guest was complaining to the front desk about their stay. At least that guest got something resembling an apology. When I contacted the hotel afterwards, they decided that our horrible experience was a "teachable moment" for their staff, but forgot to ever apologize to us. We're in that area frequently, and I really hope I remember not to stay there again. Marriott hotels are usually acceptable to good. This one was not. read more

At the hotel now. Big problem for me is that the bed faces away from the door. Surprising for a Courtyard is that the sheets feel like burlap. I told the check in person downstairs, who was very pleasant, that I would not be able to sleep. My own issue, I know, but one that they did not resolve, despite being able to resolve it. This is a clean, well-run, friendly facility in a nice location near shopping and restaurants. The breakfast costs $10/person, but is very good. Parking and access are easy, and the rooms are comfy, spacious, and clean. The price is also reasonable, costing around $100 for a double queen room per night. read more

We just stayed in Farmington this past weekend for a soccer tournament. When we were unable to secure a dinner reservation for our large group we were offered the Oak Room. Amy and her manager Samir provided us with outstanding service. The room was set to accommodate our group (40 people) and they also provided plates, napkins, cups, utensils and pitchers of water. As a follow-up to my previous review: And when the general manager replies back to me, he doesn't spell my name right. I can't say that alone is bad customer service and worth complaining about but it's the icing on the cake to a bad stay. And I work at a coffee shop, by the way. Each of our food items are inspected each day before we put them in the display case or in the fridge ready to give to customers. It takes about 5 minutes each morning as part of standard opening procedure. I suggest you do this at the hotel because talking to other people who were also at the conference, I was only one of many who had rotten food. The hotel, rooms, and lobby are all very clean appearing and comfortable. Although this seems to be a relatively new hotel the TVs are CRTs which just kinda seems wrong. Unfortunately, they do not offer WIFI in the rooms but they do in the lobby. In the rooms they have wired Internet access which is fine but seems like most other hotels of similar category these days offer WIFI which means I can sit on the bed and work while I'm watching TV at the other places but here I must sit right next to the TV at the desk in order to have access. read more

I've stayed at this hotel 4 or 5 times in the past year. The hotel is very clean, parking lot is well lit and the staff has always been polite and helpful. I'm not sure why someone else didn't have wifi, but there is no problem with it now. The beds and linens are always clean and comfy. My sister and I came here during a very difficult time. Our other sister was in rehab nearby in Hartford, recovering from having a malignant tumor removed from her brain. When some of the staff learned this, we were given some free glasses of wine (much needed after some really difficult days) free breakfast, and just the kindest words of encouragement from everyone, from the front desk to the people working at the Bistro. The room was quiet and clean and we couldn't have asked for a better experience during such a difficult time. Thank you to everyone we came into contact with. You were all wonderful. When we come back to see our sister, there's nowhere else we'd stay, even though there are places closer to her. Way to go, Marriott. You have the best people working for you. I am staying at Courtyard by Marriott Hartford Farmington worst day ever. I left my room early this morning to attend a conference when I returned to my room this evening I discovered that things I had purchased the prior day was missing from my room. I had not been in my room all day. I reported it to the desk manager and she was of no help. The desk manager said she didn't know who I clean my room that I would have to wait that evening for the assistant manager to come in. By the time the assistant manager came I had already called the police to report the theft. The police were very understanding and took the report. When the manager arrived I was informed that she couldn't prove that the housekeeper had taken anything for my room that all the employees in the hotel had master keys but she would put in a report. I'm out of over $100.00 of merchandise. My advice to everyone is don't stay at this hotel people steal your things. The hotel doesn't take responsibility for your property. They can't prove the housekeeper took them. All the employees have master keys. She doesn't believe her employees would've done such a thing. However, my things are missing I didn't make this up. I'm trying to find another hotel to stay in because I'm afraid to leave my things in this hotel for the rest of the weekend. Beware when you leave your room at this Marriot. Take your luggage with you stick it in your car until you come back. read more

So, we're at this hotel now actually. It's 1 in the morning and I'm writing this review because I can't sleep. Not because of anything about the room itself - the beds are insanely comfortable, the room is clean, staff are friendly. But my issue is, apparently when you have a room on the main floor, you can hear every damn word being said from the idiotic frat boys at the hotel bar. Called reception to ask if they could be asked to please quiet down ... Guy at reception sounded helpless (guessing I wasn't the first caller, especially since I'm not easily annoyed) and said that he would do his best but he didn't "really have any control over the bar" ... So yeah. I'm laying here trying to sleep and unable to. Which pisses me off. So, my advice? Stay here, but stay somewhere other than the first floor. We've never, ever had a problem here before and love the hotel itself, but the amount of noise slowed so late and so close to guest rooms is ridiculous. I'm all for hanging out with friends and having a good time - that's actually why we're in town - but have some respect. And also, have some hotel staff who know how to handle idiotic drunk guests, or don't have a bar on site. read more

Terrible! First, the staff is rude, it took forever to check in as they were only using one computer, training, and there were three people in line. It's a Friday evening, what do you expect? My family and I have stayed here several times in the past 5 years. We have family in the area and use this hotel as a launching point for the long one-day drive back to Atlanta. This hotel is always clean, the beds are super-comfortable, and the staff are always kind and helpful. The biggest selling point, however, was this hotel had a really good breakfast buffet with all of the fixings for a reasonable price. Over the years, I have seen this place packed, and waiting for a table here was no big deal because the food was good. During the breakfast bar, I have had the chance to chat with all kinds of people from around the world: grandparents from California and Hilton Head, a couple with small children from Germany, and various business travelers. It was with this in mind that I made reservations on a recent trip to New England. In the morning, before checking out, we made our way to the breakfast area, which was devoid of people. There were a few tables there, but nobody was sitting in an area that should have been very busy. In confusion, I turned to the lady at the front desk and asked if the breakfast buffet had been relocated. No, she assured me, all of Marriott had converted to offering Starbucks breakfast items, and we could order those. As she was explaining this, I saw a solitary man walking away from the kitchen with a brown paper bag; I knew then that this was a guy walking with his Starbucks breakfast item back to his room to eat there. Knowing that Starbucks offers muffins, biscotti, and poundcake for breakfast, we finished the checkout and went to breakfast down the road. I can understand why a Starbucks business model would be attractive for Marriott. Guaranteed revenue, big name marketing glamour, and the ability to get rid of a kitchen full of people and support staff for the breakfast are perhaps a few of the benefits. But I see this agreement with Starbucks as a Faustian deal: sure you can bring in a big name and simplify operations, but you have also turned what was the morning heartbeat of the hotel and a very pleasant experience for your guests into solitary people scuttling down hallways to consume their cold muffins alone in their rooms. read more

My husband travels often for business and has stayed at this hotel as it is part of his company's preferred hotels in this area. When he last stayed there, we had some items shipped to his hotel (we live overseas right now) for him to bring home. Unfortunately, one of our packages was received at the hotel but never made it to my husband's room. Out of 6 packages sent and received, the largest/most valuable one somehow never got to him. The hotel even confirmed they had received the package so we know it wasn't an issue outside of the hotel but inside. The part that frustrated me the most is that the hotel management was completely unhelpful and unresponsive. They would "forget" to return my calls and direct me to people to "help" me who were not even working. They clearly just wanted me to go away and took zero responsibility for the package they clearly lost so I ended up being out the $$ due to their negligence and thievery. My husband (and his co-workers who travel to Hartford often) will never stay at this hotel again b/c we refuse to trust them or give them the revenue. read more
