Hubby surprised me last minute with a trip to Connecticut for Mother's Day to see the family!! So where to stay?! Marriott, of course! The location plus our Marriott Bonvoy points is why we often choose this hotel. The price is right and it has everything you need, but it's really no frills. It has a breakfast room, pool and great staff. The star staff member this time in particular -Justin! There is some type of construction going on and many parking spaces were sacrificed. No available parking for weary travelers post midnight?! Nooooo! However, Justin makes problems disappear even after midnight. Thanks!! They are welcoming to our well trained (LEGIT) service animal, so kudos for that. Rooms are adequate, but nothing more. If you want luxury, you don't come here. Otherwise, it definitely gets the job done. Staff saves it here. Three stars, where it would have been two. Sadly tonight on a busy Mother's Day evening, we just wanted to chill with a simple later evening snack and watch a movie in room. The TV wouldn't connect, so we called down to the desk. NO ANSWER!? Ugh. Also, midday, our keys inexplicably didn't work! Had to go back down and get two new keys. Why?!? All else said, this is a fine mid range lodging for a few days, but nothing special at all. The Front Desk Manager was very polite and genuinely tried his best to assist us during our stay. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the desk employees, who were less helpful and at times dismissive when it came to addressing our concerns. Our guest room itself was clean and comfortable, which we appreciated. However, the television was disappointing. The coloring was off, and the images displayed strangely, making it distracting to watch. It looked so poor that we ended up turning it off entirely. First, the hotel website advertises a heated pool, which was one of the main reasons we booked here. When we went to use it, the water was extremely cold. Thinking something might be wrong, we asked an employee and were told that the room is heated, not the pool itself. This felt misleading, as the online description clearly gives the impression of a heated swimming pool. The condition of the pool area was also concerning. We brought our room towels downstairs and sat near the towel bin by the pool chairs. After realizing the water was too cold to enjoy, we came back to sit down and noticed something crawling on the towel bin. Upon closer look, we saw roaches climbing along the side of the bin. This was extremely unsettling and unsanitary. We immediately left the pool area and called the front desk to report it. After reporting the issue, we received two follow-up calls asking for more details. While we appreciate the hotel taking the matter seriously, the calls quickly became frustrating. The employees repeatedly asked whether we had photos and to describe the exact location of the pests. We did not have our phones with us at the pool, only our room towels, which could be validated on security footage. Despite explaining this, we were asked the same questions multiple times, which felt dismissive of the concern we had already reported. Additionally, both the hotel website and the Marriott Bonvoy app still display photos of a hot tub. We were very excited to enjoy some kid-free relaxation time, only to find out upon arrival that the hot tub no longer exists. When we inquired, we were told the hotel is undergoing renovations and the hot tub was removed. If that's the case, the online listings should be updated promptly, as keeping outdated photos gives guests false expectations. Overall, while the Front Desk Manager was polite and our room itself was clean, the misleading advertising about the heated pool and hot tub, the unsanitary conditions in the pool area, the unhelpful response from desk employees, and the poor quality of the television made this stay very disappointing. We hope management takes action to update the online listings, resolve maintenance issues, and address the pest concerns so future guests can have a better experience. read more

I was much more disappointed by the amenities on my next stay. Despite the website pictires, they are putting up a wall to block off the oht tub permanently. The pool was freezing and front desk said there was nothing they could do about it. The gym only has 2 treadmills and one elliptical for cardio which is very limited. There is a bench but only weights 20 lbs+ and no kettle balls or alternatives. Room was fine but light in bathroom flickered constantly. I doubt I was first room occupant since it started failing so just very annoying. read more

Seemingly clean and overall safe hotel. The gym leaves a lot to be desired; 2 treadmills, an elliptical, 3 yoga mats, a ball, and a small bench with a half empty weight rack. The lightest weights they had were 20's, then 25, and then I think it jumped to 40s? They had towels and water in a corner. Breakfast service was decent, but when they say 10, they mean 10. At 9:58 they were cleaning up and I was a little afraid as I went for a boiled egg. They do play music in the lobby/business area, so be mindful of that. My comforter and sheets were super wrinkly. They seemed clean, but also seemed like they may have just been thrown back over the bed? Not entirely sure on that one, just an observation. read more

What a difference 415 days makes... Back in June of 2021 I was excited to find a new hotel to stay in after moving on from the IHG property I stayed at for over a decade when traveling to the area on business. This Fairfield Inn & Suite by Marriott has really lost it's appeal and the cost per night has continue to climb. I certainly understand that the economic times have changed with labor, food cost and in general record inflation and I feel the impact as well on my pocket book but unfortunately I don't have the option to increase my income as easily as these corporations do - I can deal with increase cost if a company is trying to maintain theie standards but that's not the case here. I have seen this hotel's maintenance and upkeep steadily decline since I first started staying here - the room make-up policy has went from daily to never during a stay here, if I need towels or other supplies that were normally restocked daily I have to request them. The breakfast has went from just okay or merely adequate to something I don't want any part of. The general cleanliness of the interior of this property leaves something to be desired as well as do the amenities in the room. Sometimes a company forces your hand or at less presents you with an opportunity to look at other options and I guess that's where I'm at with this Marriott property especially when there are so many other places to try - Fairfield I wish you well but I'm moving on... read more

Chad got my needs fulfilled and the whole getaway was a perfect situation. the scones at breakfast were from what I'm told , wonderful, but the decaf could use some ltc. ( not me, high turnover medium tastes fine) the pool was on point, sure it can get a bit loud and somewhat wet (lol) but prepare yourself and temper your expectations and you will be fine. in sum, i live 10 minutes away, so im not really planning on staying, however, should i lose power or something else, i would be happy with staying here for a spell. checked in read more

Stayed here for one night while visiting relatives. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The COVID-19 precautions were adequate. My complaint is that the complimentary breakfast was replaced by nothing. I understand that COVID-19 has required major changes, but other hotels have at least substituted with a to-go box or some prepackaged pastries, etc. Other than coffee, tea or juice at the front desk, there was nothing offered. I am a Marriott loyalist. A purist. It is currently the 155th day of the year, I have stayed at a Marriott 120 times this year. I have been to Marriotts in 14 different states this year, as well as over 40 states and 4 countries during the past 2 years alone. I have lived this way for 7 years. I say this with as much meaning and power as I can: this is the worst experience that I've ever had at Marriott property in my entire life. The staff is a perfect mixture of ignorant, incompetent, and rude that takes a drab, grubby property and transforms it into an angsty hell hole. I booked this room last minute because everything else in the area was sold out. I did not realize that I was booking a night in a penitentiary. As a matter of fact, I'm sure the customer service of the staff there would get glowing reviews by comparison. Avoid at all costs. read more

Stayed this past weekend. Totally mishandled my reservations when I had to make a change. Was told that the hotel was oversold and switched the days of my reservation. Lucky for us there was a cancellation Saturday morning and we were able to stay. Desk agent said she could figure out who screwed up just by our description. Emailed management group as well as area manager and still have not heard back. Travel tip- bring your own soap! Smallest soap I have ever seen. The size of a chiclet! There are other Marriott properties nearby as well as Hilton properties. They will get my business as I frequent this area often. read more

I wouldn't necessarily give this place a 5-star nor a 4-star but not a 2-star either. I've been to better hotels in the area but this one is not bad if you're just gonna sleep there instead of lounging around the hotel. There is a separate dining room where they give out free breakfast. The food are gross but my partner kept assuring me it's free so it's OK. No, it's not OK. Free food should never be gross because that reflects on the quality and service of the hotel. The "quiche" and "sausage and pancake stick" are supposed to be microwaved and they taste worse than anything you can buy from Dunkin Donuts. There is also a swimming pool and jacuzzi. If you have kids, this might calm them down. As far as the room goes, it's pretty decent (there wasn't a microwave in my room). If you can help it, request a room that is not facing the front of the hotel. There are huge flood lights in front of the hotel that shines into your room. If you like to sleep in the dark ... good luck. I might come back if other hotels are booked but this is not gonna be my first choice. read more

Stayed here during a quick holiday visit. It's a decent hotel. The front desk staff and housekeeping were all very pleasant. There's a pool and fitness center on the main floor and a complimentary breakfast is served daily. The double queen room that I stayed in was nice and clean. My only gripe was a portion of the floor creaked. Oh and the pillows were super fluffy which I didn't like. It's right across the way from Buckland Hills mall which is awesome. Dave & Busters is also a hop, skip and jump away. I would definitely stay here again. read more

Greeted by a baggage cart covered in trash at front door. Room was 60 deg and freezing. They probably kept it cold to cover up the smell of carpet mold and mildew. Sat on the bed and it made strange noises and the headboard leaned forward. Thought it was going to fall onto the bed. Requested, and got, another room. This was a little better but there was an inch of dust on everything.. The bar in the closet was detaching from the wall and could barely support the weight of garment bags. During the night, we heard people running up and down the hallway and shouting. In the morning got cup of coffee ... they had no creamer, only oat milk, which instantly curdled. My stay at the Fairefield Inn has been nothing short of remarkable. The staff is extremely friendly, and welcoming, and really make you feel at home. They always go out of their way and pull out all of the stops every chance they get to make you feel welcomed and happy. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The shuttle service is extremely reliable and convenient and will get you to and from the airport and surrounding areas within minutes. Very friendly drivers too. The breakfast has good variety and is served fresh every morning. All of the employees always have big smiles on their faces and are always happy to help. Special shout out to their greatest asset, Sales Manager Anna, she is the absolute best! Anna has gone above and beyond in every way and is the crowned jewel of the Marriott brand. Anna is always so quick to help and make sure your stay is one you will never forget. Windsor Locks/Hartford may have other hotels but they all pale in comparison to the Fairefield because they don't have Anna. Like my amazon package would have been delivered less than 5 minutes ago and Anna had already let me know. She is also a well of information of all the goings on and things to do in the area. The best service doesn't even begin to cover it. Anna is truly the best and you genuinely feel special under her care. I have never experienced such amazing hospitality at a hotel as I have here. The location is great. The Fairefield is minutes away from the airport, there are many restaurants near by, a convenience store, and even a bowling alley and arcade. So if you're looking for a comfortable stay, very friendly staff, a very strategic location from the airport, and an overall great experience, choose right and choose the Fairefield Inn. I 110% recommend this hotel and would absolutely without any hesitation choose to stay here again. This is not a fancy hotel. It's a great place to stay when you're traveling to Hartford for work but don't have a crazy expense account. It's clean, the desk chairs are very comfortable and they have a ton of outlets to charge your devices. Front desk is always polite and helpful. They have cookies. You get a free breakfast. (It's a free breakfast.) It's also located right off a major highway next to a shopping mall. Now, I know some folks will turn up their noses at that, but if you have a wardrobe emergency (like I did the first time i stayed here), Macy's can save your work life. There are a number of restaurants nearby, most of them chains. Again, not fancy, but predictable at least. Also nearby: Target, which is good for pretty much anything you need. Again, very helpful when you're doing the road warrior thing. So you may be reading this and seeing my 5 star review and be giving me a little side-eye. There's a reason. I've stayed here twice now, and the the second time was the last night in a three city trip I was making from New Jersey through Connecticut, so suffice it to say, I was a little fried. I am usually very paranoid when packing up, triple checking everything. This time I wasn't and I missed my Kindle Paperwhite. I realized this the next night as I was getting ready for bed and looking to do some reading. The night desk promptly answered and took my information. The next morning at 8, the manager called to say they had it and ask where would I like it shipped. What a relief. And imagine my surprise when it arrived THE NEXT DAY. Pros- bed was comfortable, close to where I wanted to be Cons- 1 inch gap under door made every sound in the hallway sound like it was in our room. Ran out of anything healthy at breakfast bar. Very expensive for the level of stay. Note- we had an accessible room and it was NOT. Doors were wide but no wheelchair access to shower, one small grab bar in shower, none for toilet. This place was the nicest stop-off-the-highway hotel I may have ever stayed in. The room was good-sized, had FREE Wi-FI, a giant, flat panel TV, microwave, refrigerator, cd/mp3 player (into which you could plug an ipod or other device via USB)(it looks like there as dock into which you could plug an ipod in the bedside clock radio as well), a little sitting/work area sort of separated by a little wall from the bed, full-lenth mirror and a SERIOUSLY comfortable bed. Everything is new, new new, and nice. Clean goes without saying almost, since everything is so new, but it was, in fact, very clean. On top of this, the breakfast is far from the mininal spread you often see at hotels, with a few boxes of cereal and a sad looking pastry or two. You can make your own Belgain waffle (strawberries and whipped cream available in addition to regular and sugar free syrup), there were hard boiled eggs, some sort of egg sandwich you could heat in the microwave, and of course bagels, English muffins, toast, muffins, yogurt, cereal, fruit and so on. I was especially glad to see the eggs, as protein can often be hard to come by in these hotel breakfast buffets. They even offer two kinds of reguilar coffee: house and 'dark'! This was my first time at a Fairfield Inn - I am going to be looking out for them from now on. Great value. It's the kind of experience you expect to have at a hotel charging twice the price. Particularly with respect to the size, quality and ammenties of the room. Maybe we just got lucky... (we paid 110 for a Sunday night)... PS there is a 24-hour fitness room, and a pool. PPS there are lots of restaurant (mostly chains, of course) choices and shops nearby. There is a mall, in fact, directly adjacent to the hotel. read more

I've been a Marriott Platinum member for over 15 years. I am always impressed with Marriott. But do NOT come here. There are other choices. There is a Residence Inn and Courtyard right up the road. In fact, I would rather stay with the in-laws. There is no breakfast, unless you want corn flakes and warm milk, there is no ice in the ice machine,, the roads look like they were mortared by ISIS in Mosul, and the garbage is overflowing. Don't expect ANYTHING. And, don't ask the staff for anything, they don't care. Just use your points elsewhere, or beware. Or stay home, you won't like it here unless you wanted to waste your points or money. read more

I stayed at this Fairfield Inn last night on my way to Maine. I had a late appointment and wasn't confident I could do the full drive without falling asleep at the wheel. A quick review of available Marriott's and I chose this Fairfield. It's right off I-84 in Manchester in the parking lot of a mall (which was different). However because it's right by the mall it's also right near a bunch of restaurants which would definitely be helpful. The room was newer and had the normal Fairfield accompaniments. The staff was friendly and quickly had me checked in and to my room. The wireless was quick enough to let me pound out a few emails before bed with having to go to my air card. All in all it was a good stop and I wouldn't hesitate to stop there again in the future. read more

Everything I need for overnight or week long stays. Every room is a suite with a flat screen tv, microwave, fridge and small living room with a desk and couch. Workout room is pretty basic. Haven't used the pool, looks to be just 3-4 ft deep though. Breakfast is good; nothing fancy like eggs, mainly prepackaged stuff like breakfast sandwiches and cereal. We have stayed at this hotel several times when visiting the area. We usually get the two queen beds and I would have to warn anyone getting the "King suite" if you are the 3rd person. The pull out bed is in place of the second queen and of course is not as comfortable as a real bed. For pull outs it was not bad though. It gives you a seating area with a desk when the bed is a couch again. I am not sure if it is a hotel standard but the pull out bed was never made. Even when the room is reserved for 3 people I had to get the bag of sheets and a pillow from the closet. The breakfast buffet is nice till 9 weekdays and 10 weekends. I would like hard boiled eggs every day not just weekdays but it was well stocked and saved us having to buy a breakfast to start the day. The staff was always friendly and helpful. The indoor pool and Jacuzzi is nice when it is snowing outside to rest in. There is always plenty of kids at this hotel so keep that in mind if you want to public areas quiet. read more

I had an excellent stake here at the hotel. I'm stranded in advertently due to a motor vehicle breakdown. The staff he was very friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and it was quiet. It is within walking distance of the mall and there's a Dave and busters right next-door. Definitely worth the money and I would stay here again. Free continental breakfast in the morning was nice and they have coffee iced tea and lemonade throughout the day in the lobby. read more

My husband & I stay at this hotel frequently, I have to give Patrick at front desk so much credit, he is always so accommodating, his customer service is always so inviting and makes us feel more than welcomed. The recent upgrades in the hotel are modern & impressive. The complimentary breakfast has a decent selection but always welcomed by a friendly gentleman that I can tell takes pride in his job. Pros: the water pressure is excellent. Best I have ever experienced in a hotel. Breakfast is quite decent. Room was nice. Cons: Exceedingly poor customer service. It was about 1:30pm when I got there. First thing the woman at the check in counter said to me was: It was too early. Yes, it was before the official check in time, AND it wasn't like I showed up at 6am! (Btw, it turned out that my room was already ready.) Then I showed her the Marriott Signature Awards certificates I used when I reserved the room. She proceeded to tell me that: * I had to specify these awards when I reserved the room (I did) * these awards were not for Fairfield Inn (they were, I made sure of that before I made my reservation) After closely examining the certificates and reading all the fine print (trying to find more reasons to say no?) and giving me more grief and obviously disbelieving and disregarding everything I said, she eventually called her supervisor (after I asked her to,) who checked and found out that yes, these awards are perfectly legit. I normally don't go around looking for racist behavior, but the rudeness of this woman made me wonder if she would have treated me the same way, had I been caucasian instead of asian? read more

I have been so impressed by the many kindnesses of the reception staff at this hotel. I stay here frequently while helping to care for an ill family member who lives near by. Recently, I had two very long visits. The staff knew of my situation and always greeted me with a compassionate word. But when I found a vase of tulips in my room with a lovely note from the staff saying they were thinking of me and wishing me strength, I was bowled over by their thoughtfulness. The staff waa very friendly and helpful. The check in and out was painless. The room was small but very clean. The exercise room and pool were very clean. The temperature was okay,they make you think you can control your own air but you really can't. At times the room became uncomfortable. Also they never mentioned there was no mini frigde and we were unable to store my mother's insulin, so we had to use the ice bucket to store food. They don't have safes in the rooms so we had to carry important papers with you everywhere we went. The breakfast is good for what it's worth. I would stay here again. read more

Ok, while saying that this hotel is 4 stars is a stretch, we did have a 4 star experience there. Nothing was bad. The rooms were clean and modern. Actually smelled really good when we walked in. The receptionist area was the same. Breakfast was standard. Undercooked scrambled eggs, sausage, oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, etc. but the waffle maker didn't work (not that I would have used it. just an observation). The fitness center was very small, just a couple of machines and some free weights. The pool was actually pretty nice but it was RUINED but about 8 kids, splashing, screaming, jumping from pool to hot tub constantly. Their parents were just sitting there watching as grown adults AVOIDED their kids. There should be some sort of order when kids are unruly in a pool. Like, hello, there's adults, people who also PAID to stay here and use this pool, trying to do so, but it's hard when you just want to have a low key pleasant swim, or sit in the hot tub and you're about to be drowned by a bunch of kids. Pretty unfortunate. I was really looking forward to staying here. I searched far and wide for a reasonably priced hotel within the parameters I wanted. But unfortunately in our second evening here, the nights have been incredibly loud, there are currently security officers and police officers in the lobby and hallway. And there is a ring of dead skin in the hot tub. The service has been so nice, and the breakfast is pretty good. But otherwise, it's been really awful. I recognize that it isn't the hotel's fault. One star because you cant give it a 0. First off been trying to resolve a matter sence the 25th of Feb. Stayed one night under Mr. Hull without an animal and get charged for animal damage of puck and poop for an anaimal you didn't own nor have at the hotel. Try to resolve it and you get nowhere. They just email you that charges stick and can't prove you had or have a cat when you can prove you don't have one nor had one they don't listen. Finally today get a call back to tell me procedures were followed even though they weren't the one that saw the room so guess if i want the money will have to go to court. So now taken them to small claims court for the charges. If anyone else has been robbed by fairfeild inn you may let me know I have no problem fighting your case with you also.
