In addition, I have videos of their workers smoking weed behind my garage. I am so tired of this disgusting building that smells like human piss and feces 24/7. Fun fact - about a year after this place opened a bunch of people died due to inadequate fire suppression. Owners should have seen that as a hint and shut the facility down at that time...unfortunately it's been 50 years since the fire but very little seems to have changed. This facility is a blight on our community and should be shut down and demolished...it is irredeemable.

Happiness does not come from being here, it is how the staff and management treat you. The attitude is real from the female staff (not all, and there is a short list.) Some good news is that there have been some changes. We have a new kitchen manager, and the food has improved greatly, so I would like to commend Lynette Gonzalez for her outstanding service to City View. We also have a new assistant administrator named Martin Lee. he is an outstanding member of Cityview, observes the entire facility, and has an open-door policy to get issues resolved right away for the comfort of Cityview residents. I am going to suggest showcasing outstanding employees by having an employee of the month photographed on the wall behind the front desk as you enter the facility as well as a resident of the month. I have been here for 2 1/2 years, so I am quite familiar with the functions of Cityview.

I understand hospitals can be busy, but basic updates and attention to patients go a long way. The level of care I received did not meet expectations. It felt rushed, and my concerns weren't taken as seriously as they should have been. Overall, the experience left me frustrated and uneasy. I really hope they improve their patient communication and overall service, because this was not the level of care anyone expects when going to a hospital.

I've been in the emergency room for about two hours with my 80-year-old mother, and unfortunately, the environment has been far from what I remember. Staff members were openly using profanity and engaging in inappropriate conversations within earshot of patients. It was uncomfortable and honestly disheartening--especially for someone of my mother's age to have to sit and listen to. I've been coming here for over 40 years, and I never expected to see such a decline in professionalism. As someone who works in the medical field, I understand how demanding these environments can be, but maintaining a respectful and appropriate atmosphere should always be a priority. This experience was upsetting, and I truly hope this feedback is taken seriously. I will be following up further regarding this concern. I guess this is the quality that Loyola is now, such a disappointment. The only thing I can say positive is the chaplain who came down with kindness and compassion.

The Wye Valley building seems comfortable enough but there are some glaring issues. 1) The meals are not very healthy or satisfying. For the price that is paid, I would expect fresher food, more variety, more flavor (I have eaten there myself a few times.) More importantly, the meals don't seem to follow appropriate dietary guidelines for seniors with health issues, i.e. most seniors. There was a brief period when the staff had a dietician that was making a real effort to make sure the food was tasty, well presented and appropriately nutritional for the individuals. But now, the food is not very good. My mother tells me about other residents complaining about the food, but are afraid to speak up. 2) The second elevator has been inoperable for months, because of needed repairs. However, and this is on Brookfield, an inspection has not yet been completed, it seems like it's been out of service most of the year. 3) Although the building is for independent living, seniors still need support and stimulation. There is a small game room and a room with an exercise bike. The staff I have encountered do well with the resources they have, but it seems like more interactive activities could be added - things that are a little more engaging and lively - that would be appropriate for an independent living situation.

I informed him that there must've been a real concern with my brother because the nurse called twice, and I wanted to know if he could share the information with me as to what might be best described as urgent and important. His response to me was, " The dayshift has gone home so can you call back tomorrow?" I was devastated because I always assumed that you make rounds from one shift to the next and you share information about the residents. In addition to that I sent an email to the APERION CARE and ask that Someone reach out to me so that I could inform them of this situation. No one has done so to this date and that's been nearly a week now. Ms, Beth did reach out but it was regarding our Care Plan meeting and she did express empathy when I shared with her my concern regarding a very serious situation learning that my brother extracted his IV from his arm. As his POA and the family, we need to be informed. This was a serious lack of communication and one that I am not satisfied with. This SHOULD NOT be a subjective decision regarding informing the family. What is the level of training when a nurse doesn't seem to understand the importance of letting a family know when their loved one has removed his IV used to treat a serious infection.

I highlighted them and gave them a call along with five others within my apartment sector, and out of the five that I called 'Above and Beyond' was the only one that called me back. Go figure! The next step was returning their call to set up an initial visit, which in that initial visit with Kaori, I got a great feel of what its like at 'Above and Beyond' during peak hours, plus I was introduced to several of their support programs (S.M.A.R.T Recovery, REBT - Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Art Therapy, etc.), and met several of their volunteers and staff. I felt overwhelmed, but excited at the same time because 'Above and Beyond' was so welcoming compared to the others that didn't even consider returning my call. Since that initial visit, I have dropped in at 'Above and Beyond' on a few occasions and even ended up moving closer to the East Garfield Park area, which was another huge plus because I put them as a high priority as my internship site. I highly recommend 'Above and Beyond if you are a client, volunteer, intern, or anyone looking for work because its facility is filled with diverse welcoming counselors and volunteers that keep its programs flowing.
