Had a pretty nice stay here. Check in was easy and the staff was friendly. The room was clean and they have a pretty decent gym with a dumbbell rack up to 50lbs, good working treadmills, towels and a water cooler (although empty the entire time I was there). When I checked in they had fresh lemon water in a dispenser that was refreshing. I was disappointed I didn't see it again the next morning. Didn't see have the breakfast but it wasn't a buffet from what I could tell. Any event I would recommend. read more

I was in Mobile, Alabama, to attend a funeral. The hotel was in a convenient location, with many restaurants and shops nearby. I will say we got a little lost turning onto the road leading to the Courtyard the first time. The hotel was affordable, clean and the beds were comfy . No frills or fancy touches but it was comfortable. The front desk staff was very kind and we had no issues or concerns during our visit. I would definitely stay again! read more

Receptionist was blunt and rude. Their hotel market charged us 8$ for a single bottle of water (there were no prices listed for items in the market and we were not told a price when our items were scanned, it was a surprise when we checked out.) The shower drain in our room was clogged and the shower floor overflowed and covered the bathroom floor with water. The "breakfast" is a joke -- everything was extremely overpriced and most items weren't available, plus the woman taking our order was on the phone the entire time and seemed offended that we were interrupting her. The WiFi was extremely difficult to navigate and didn't allow us access with our name and room number. And to top it off the ice machine on our floor was broken. The only upside was that the room was well cleaned and the bed was very comfortable. It seems that the cleaning staff are the only ones doing their job at this place. read more

I booked and paid for a king bed with sofa bed. I got a handicap room with everything either kneecap or waist high, no sofa. Bed was about 1ft off the floor. I was told they had no other rooms available even though the parking lot was half empty. I know they assigned this room to me because I booked through hotels.com at a discounted rate ($166, if you call that discounted), not because they were booked. The front desk lady talked to me like I was an idiot. I will never stay here or book any of my employees here ever again based solely on how I was treated. The Fairfield across the parking lot is just as nice, cheaper and better service. I would recommend looking into that hotel before booking at this "Marriott". read more

I'm not sure how this hotel is so highly rated. When you walk in, there is a strong air freshener smell. Strong is an understatement, so MIGRAINE alert. What are you trying to cover up? In the rooms, it looks like a very old hotel got lipstick and a hair do. They threw in some new paint and tile (and didn't do a great job at it) and called it good. It's places like these that make me never want to travel. Stay at the Residence Inn next door. It is updated and done much better + you get a kitchen. read more

One of the more decent hotels among other hotels in the area. The room was clean, had no bugs and was spacious. Comfortable bed. However. Unprofessional, lazy receptionist staff. When I called to inquire about placing a reservation, I was told I could receive a 10% triple-A discount. After taxes and additional fees, I was told the total discount would be $116. In the end, I was charged $150. Total. Later, I called back to place the reservation and to follow up on the great deal. To my disappointment, the receptionist was extremely short with me and unhelpful. They texted me a link and told me to go online, to make the reservation myself. (I tried to bring this to their attention and was unable to receive any sort of refund). Lastly, when checking in, all the information the receptionist provided was my room key and told me where I could and could not park. They did not tell me when I needed to check-out by, how to get to my room; basic common sense info you think a receptionist should provide. This hotel was a great location to the reason why we was visiting. I truly enjoyed the convenience to restaurants and other attractions. The initial room that was selected for us was great. It had a balcony but it came with some issues. After we checked in, we went up to the room to find our door open. The door was propped open by the top lock hatch. We was kinda nervous so we proceeded inside and scoped out the room. The room was clean and nobody was in there like we thought LOL. No problem. However, when we left the room to go walking around the hotel, that same top latch locked us out! We was unable to get into the room so we called the front desk that sent up the General Manager to use this instrument to open the door. After several attempts, he was able to let us back in. The General Manager asked us if we wanted to stay in this room or get another room. We opted for another room. But the new room we got didn't have a balcony :( but it was very clean. However, whenever we requested fresh towels we had to wait a long time to get them. Every time we would call, the front desk would say, oh the house keeper is doing laundry. Not a problem. But we would have to follow up each time. And when the room was getting cleaned, there would not be any fresh towels in the room. Also, I paid for the breakfast for 2 but didn't eat breakfast there because the menu wasn't appealing to us. Overall, a good hotel for the time being. read more

We arrived the night they were having their grand reopening after a major remodel and all I can say is wow! Marriott did this place right and the staff were just adorable. I recently stayed at the courtyard in downtown Tampa; that's in the middle of their remodel so now I know what to look forward to. This is probably one of the nicest courtyards I've been in a very long time. On the downside their sandwich bar could use some gluten-free options but that's for people like myself with food allergies. read more

This was the worst experience I have ever had at a Marriott branded hotel. It was just one of those times when everything, no matter how small, seemed to go awry. I arrived as a "walk in" with no reservation. The girl at the front desk let me know that the hotel had availability and that the rate would be $99 a night for a balcony room. So, I agreed to the rate and she checked me in. The first problem arose when she could not get my Marriott awards number to attach to the reservation. It took about 25 minutes and assistance from the manager to finally get it right. On my way to the room, I noticed that this is one of the old Courtyards... completely outdated in terms of the guest room decor. Some of the newer Fairfields I stay in are nicer than this hotel's rooms. As I entered the room, I noticed that it smelled kind of funky, there was no balcony, and the linens look old and worn. The white bed sheets had a noticeable red line across the top where the comforter, obviously for many years, has been resting. This was one of those hotels in which I pulled the mattress up and checked for bed bugs before I got too settled in... After settling in, I logged onto the internet. The connection was so slow I could not get any work done. I connect to a cloud server for work, and it was creeping along at a snail's pace... I HATE it when I happen upon a hotel with bad internet... very annoying. The next part is gross... around 10pm, I used the restroom for the first time and flushed the toilet. I went back and sat down next to the desk and after a few minutes, I could hear what sounded like water hitting the floor... yup, toilet overflowed and put about an inch of dirty sewer water on the bathroom floor. Worst part... it was someone else's dirty sewer water... my usage of the commode consisted of the #1 variety. So, I called the front desk and let them know that the bathroom was completely flooded... my expectation was to be moved to another room. Nope... instead, the front desk clerk informed me that all she could do was bring me a plunger and a bunch of towels. The plunger arrived in a plastic bag that was still visibly dirty from its previous use, and I spent the next few minutes trying to soak up sewer water with a bunch of towels, nastying up my socks and jeans in the process. I never was able to get the toilet unclogged and just had to go with no toilet (no bathroom really) for the rest of the night... I was furious. To add insult to injury, when my bill arrived, it was a $119 rate and not the $99 rate we had agreed to... by this time, I was so annoyed, I said screw it and just left. BOTTOM LINE: If you've ever stayed at a Courtyard Marriott, or even a Fairfield, anywhere else in the United States... you will be extremely disappointed in this location. It just doesn't live up AT ALL to what I expect out of Courtyard properties. There is no chance I will stay here again. read more

Bad reviews are generally from years ago. My guess is this location changed ownership and received a great remodel because the whole place felt clean, friendly and new. While it was a one night, quick stop on a road trip, the whole experience was solidly good. We had an okay check in, and when I discussed it with a staff member the next morning, she went above and beyond to fix it (and it was truly a non issue). The day staff was very friendly. Will definitely never stay at this property again! I have been an Marriott Bonvoy member for quite some time and I have never been charged for smoking in a room! I received a phone call to my room after 12am asking me if I am smoking in the room. I am not one to volunteer $250 to a hotel for no God given reason. I am not even a smoker, so I wouldn't dare be around it! Better believe that I will be receiving my funds back from Marriott, my bank or small claims.... how ever they want to do it! Front desk was invited into my room to see if smoke was actually coming from my room, they chose not too, so how are you going to charge a card without verification? read more

I stayed at this Courtyard Marriott in Mobile, AL on 4/17/2015. It was my 1st time there. In fact it was only the 2nd night that I ever stayed in Alabama. I chose it because it was not far from Hank Aaron Stadium where the Mobile BayBears play. My room (#214) was $109.00 plus a room tax of $15.26, so the total was $124.26. Great hotel. Super welcoming staff at check-in. Spacious room with a cute sofa that pulled out into a small bed. That was nice for my toddler to play in. We called the help desk for help getting food delivery and they pointed us in the right direction, and we were able to get pizza delivered to our door late at night! It's across from a mall and several other shopping/food spots, so that was nice too. Overall this satisfied all our needs for a one-night stay. read more

The Courtyard Mobile was interesting... from looking at the other hotels in the area, I'm glad I booked here early. The Courtyard Mobile should attract business just by not being one of the other 10 creepy hotels on the I-65W service road. I love the new lobby lounge areas that Courtyard is doing. I spent a lot of my time eating in the lobby and watching TV. My room design was incredible - as I suspected it would be, and I really liked having the onsite laundry. The Customer Service is really bad... "Gwen" was good in helping me switch to a King size bedroom (the (2) double beds setup was just way too small for me). But while she was in the middle of helping me, she took a 6-8 minute phone call, and helped that person - as I just stood there!!! At first I thought that this was a 'southern thing', and maybe the person on the phone was older - or a woman. But the next time I went to the desk, that clerk: named "Truth" did the exact same thing!!! Another 5-6 minute phone call answered in the middle of my visit to the desk - as I just stood there!!! The young lady that was working the Starbucks counter and/or Kitchen area was so annoyed w/customers that I'm going to assume that she was having a REALLY REALLY BAD day and I won't call her out for it... It happens... Also, the turndown service was bad. They came in my room, made up the bed, and didn't leave any new towels, soap, or drinking glasses. I had to walk to the front desk around midnight - where I met another "Prince Charming" - who seemed underwhelmed to be gathering toiletries for me. All-in-all, The Courtyard Mobile is a cozy, clean, perfectly located hotel. The interior design is great. A PERFECT stay if you can avoid interaction with the staff. I should Note: I didn't receive exceptional customer service ANYWHERE in Mobile, AL. And I don't look for much! I was visiting for a national tennis event, which was the same weekend when Florida was forced to evacuate [state of emergency] for Hurricane Matthew. The entire city seemed to be crowded for what I expected from Mobile. Maybe the influx of evacuees and guests was an overload for the City. read more

This was by far the worst Marriott hotel that we've ever stayed in. We were in town for two nights, and were let down on several occasions. The first was the fact that when we reserved the room for Friday and Saturday night, it was stated that breakfast was provided. What they failed to mention, was that it was a mini Starbucks inside the hotel that overcharged, and took 15-20 minutes to get your food. The hotel did not even provide complimentary coffee. When we got back to the room after being gone all day, our room smelled as though somebody had been smoking pot inside our room. We notified the manager on duty only so we wouldn't be blamed for a bad smell. We then asked for an extra blanket and we were told they didn't have any. I have always loved staying at Marriott hotels, but after this visit we will reconsider. Very disappointed and tired after our stay. read more

Arriving to the property after dark, I was unable to tell much about the exterior of the property but from what I could tell, things were well maintained and seemed to be free of clutter or trash. The check in process was easy and seamless. The pool is out of order and they do not offer coffee except from the Starbucks coffee bar where you pay for each cup. The elevator worked perfectly and upon entering the hotel room, it was a spacious floor plan with a king bed, desk, refrigerator, balcony and a sofa bed. The bed was EXTREMELY HARD and very uncomfortable. It was higher at the foot end than the head therefore sleep was not happening. The walk in shower and toiletries were all very nice and plenty of towels were available. Here is were things went wrong. At checkout, I made mention to 'Jake' that the bed was uncomfortable and that it was elevated incorrectly. He never acknowledged the issue. I also made him aware that we would be leaving the luggage with them long enough to grab lunch. Upon returning with the luggage, i asked if he preferred we leave it on the cart or remove it? He asked, what do you mean? I replied that we were leaving the luggage to go for lunch. His response was 'leaving the luggage?' It was as though it was an inconvenience and not allowed. I said never mind we will find another means. He laughed at me. A Titanium Member with a service animal and now he says 'we also do not allow pets.' She is a a service animal an he said no she is not because service animals do not bark. WHAT? Where would someone gain such info that a service animal never barks? I am at the end of this and would not recommend this property.... read more

This was an extremely friendly and clean hotel. I was there for a week on a business trip and they were very warm and welcoming. The food and snack bar is a little overpriced but considering you are paying for convenience its not to bad. Pool and gym were also very clean. read more

Not Up to Courtyard or Marriott Brand Standards! We checked in for 1 night on 12/18/2015. The hotel is old and, in my opinion, not up to Courtyard or Marriott brand standards. The room appeared to be clean, but the mattress was worn out, HVAC did not work properly so room did not cool adequately, some light bulb sockets were loose, and there were insufficient outlets for guest electronic devices. The hallways and elevator smelled horrible from the cleaning products being used. Staff were friendly and helpful. We will find a newer hotel next time. read more

I was a guest there on the Friday night after Thanksgiving; had a 6 am flight out of Mobile so didn't want the stress of driving to the Mobile airport in the dark of night from Mississippi to return the car and find the airport (have never been there before). The man at the desk was super helpful in giving me information, and I gassed up my rental car that night so I wouldn't have to deal with it in the early morning. And the lady at the beverage/food area (Andrea - I think that's her name), she was really nice and easy to have a conversation with, and helpful. So the bigger story is that I only got less than 4 hours sleep, and did make my flight on time BUT discovered once I arrived at Dulles airport in VA that I didn't have my iPad in my tote bag. Yikes! I called the front desk ( or whoever answers that number) at the Marriott; told her my situation. She called me back on my cell in less than 5 minutes. I was still at Dulles - and said "we have your iPad"! Hallelujah!!! She gathered the essential info from me to make arrangements to ship it to me in VA. On Monday I was contacted by the Asst GM (Kervin Lassiter) at that same Marriott to confirm the info; he was headed to FedEx with my iPad. So on a most happy note, I rec'd my iPad this morning. Carefully packed by FedEx in electronics packaging to protect the device. Thank you, Marriott staff and FedEx. I'm a most happy camper today. On a separate note: I was there at the Marriott for only a few short hours. I've stayed at a lot of Marriotts and it met my expectations. Very clean. Staff was great. The 'service road signage' when you get off I-65 is not easy to see, and I almost missed it. Not Marriott's problem, but that entire service road is a little tricky to figure out for someone if out of town and it's the dark of night! read more

Hey Guys! I took the children for Mardi Gras in Mobile Alabama during winter break. They loved the experience! The food was awesome, plenty of prizes and beads being thrown. It was a great family experience. However, we arrived on the first day that the parade was rained out so along with other girlfriends we hung out poolside (indoors) for the day the kids loved it! The Courtyard was having a remodel done, and they just got some very nice outdoor furniture. If it wasn't raining cats and dogs we would have spent some time out there too. The rooms were a great size and clean. The beds slept awesome! We also had and additional fold away bed brought in for two of the children. For a ladies trip we felt completely safe exploring Mobile. Hint get close to the festivities as possible because more than likely you will still find affordable parking. You must experience the Black parade it is a totally different vibe. Oh, CVS is free parking and they sale alcohol too. lastly, as Mardi Gras heats up the streets get a little trashy. There needs to be more areas to dump trash we did not see any. The clean up crew comes after everything is over. Well let me know my tip was helpful. Enjoy and watch out for those beads! read more

Rooms were nice and clean, but traffic nose from interstate is terrible. Laying in bed listening to sirens and crotch rockets. And wondering what the $20 Marriott charge is that showed up on my credit card 10 mins after checking in?? No parking fees. read more

Our stay was GREAT! All the rooms have been newly remodeled and they are gorgeous. The staff was AMAZING! From Front Desk to Housekeeping to The Bistro, which has a bar and a Starbucks...all the employees were very happy and helpful. Great place! read more
