1 1/2 minute read; As you may know by now, I'm connected to Courtyard Plaza by virtue of David, my brother, who's been living here for about 4 years. I live about 4 miles from Courtyard and when possible, I visit David. This visit, I made it a point of joining David for lunch, since I used to be Food Service Director in many Los Angeles facilities. So this was my main focus today, Friday July 11. And what a wonderful experience it was! Earlier, at the reception desk, I paid a $10 fee for lunch and it was well worth it. There were two entrees to choose from but before being served, a nice waitress, Gisele, came by and asked what we would like to drink. I chose Cranberry juice & David chose a tea. Within a few minutes, we were first offered a beautiful salad with a choice of dressing. After that, we were offered a choice of two entrees. David chose the fully loaded Hot Dog with sweet potato fries. I chose the Clams Alfredo. Both turned out well prepared and delicious. We enjoyed the delicious Lunch and each others company. My friend is a new resident at Courtyard Plaza and he is very happy the staff is very professional they take very good care of him and help him all the time he needs assistance. I recently moved my dad into the Courtyard Plaza. After looking at many different assisted living facilities throughout the Los Angeles area, we chose the Courtyard Plaza. The facility is very clean, the staff members are heartfelt and super friendly, the price is unbelievably fair and it's only a short walk from restaurants and outdoor shopping centers. My dad has been there for about a month now and we couldn't be any happier with this place. read more

I have been a resident here since December of 2014. I was impressed by day one, how other residents and staff treated me with respect and how large and clean my individual room was. This facility offers loving care and respect to disabled seniors like me. With a new administrator "Evelina Papazyan" everything has gone from very good to fantastic She has greatly improved the selection of quality and heathy food and sometimes is in the cafeteria assisting her staff to individually serve us. She is very kind to us and all of her very helpful staff. It is a pleasure to greet her every morning and see her always smiling face. The staff working in the office are very kind and patient no matter how many a resident will ask the same questions. They value and respect all the residents and are always smiling. The housekeepers keep my room clean on a daily basis and my bathroom is always spotless. This is a really a happy place and I doubt that you'll find another facility that offers so much for the very reasonable monthly cost. I wasn't asked or paid to make this review. This place makes its own good impression when you come here for the first time. Compare this facility to any other facility and you'll understand why I have been a very happy resident since day one. By the way; there are many activities here including daily exercise classes. There is something for every resident here to keep them active. In the beginning I thought it was ok, but some of the staff are thieves. And nothing is really done about it some show favor towards some tenants than others. And they still turn the water off for hours and do not alert us before it is turned off. If you turn your back on some of the staff in house keeping and laundry will be in your room stealing. And the female that passes meds can't be trusted either. I REGRET coming here. But there are some that seem to be good but the bad ones make mess things up for them. And maintenance guy can't be trusted either. I don't like leaving my room bcuz something always coming in, even when I'm sleep doing stuff their not suppose too. read more

My mom has been living at Courtyard Plaza since June and I must say the care there is fantastic. The caregivers are very gentle and treat everyone with the utmost respect. My mom's room and bathroom are always very clean as well. The office staff is also very nice and always make sure everything is going well for my mom. The building itself is a bit dated, but it is kept clean. The food is ok, but mom says it is a bit bland. They offer sandwiches in the office at night as a snack. Overall, Courtyard Plaza is a safe and happy place for my mom. I go over a few times a week to check on her and she is always very well taken care of. We are very happy so far. read more

My mom recently joined the Courtyard family. I am very happy with the way that the staff takes care of her; they are kind and caring. My mom is very happy there. I have seen her demeanor change into that of a more talkative, outgoing and engaged person. She is always telling me how nice everyone is. My mom loves it here. The caregivers are fabulous and really look out for her. It's tough to pull her away for family gatherings because she always has something going on, bingo, music, movie night, entertainment. Of course, the food is a little boring. Imagine eating at the same restaurant everyday for every meal. That would get boring no matter how good the food was. My mom stayed at 2-other places in the valley that were more expensive. She likes this place better than any of the others. The building isn't new and the neighborhood is mostly apartments but don't let that stop you. New owners are starting to renovate the rooms. It's all about the care and how happy the residents are. read more

My father has lived here for 8 years and still loves it. The staff is very friendly and the maintenance is great. My father has been in several rooms and they have all been clean and well kept. My father needs assistance and there is always someone there to help him. Residents are very friendly and there are many activities on and off site. The adminstator and manager Evelina and Evelyn are great and always responsive to questions and concerns. Highly recommended. read more

I like the staff that works there. They are very good with the people living at this home, and they are very respectful. I have to say though that the facility needs repairs. It is dirty. My mother's room badly needs a carpet, and we caught some cockroaches in the room... I loved Dmitri when he was there. He was so personable with everyone, and he would be able to talk to my mom and clear all kinds of confusions with her. The new management is not so good.. There was a very nice and caring medical person there. Her name was Julie. We were so happy that she was there, but she left after Dmitri left. I feel that the place is deteriorating, and it is a shame. read more

I have lived at COURTYARD PLAZA for more than four years, and, when your situation is like mine, where you have limited contact with your own family, it's nice that the people you see everyday become like family. We all wish for perfection, at COURTYARD PLAZA they strive for quality of care and facility. The staff is especially caring and thoughtful - the caregivers, housekeepers, activities, food service,office and maintenance people are personable, as well as competent in their responsibilities. The highlights of the year are the holiday celebrations; the decorations, the meals, the entertainment - the entire staff gets involved, bringing their individual talents and personalities to the fore. It's this personal level of involvement and commitment that makes it a "family"! read more

My father lived here and glowed under the care he received from the very friendly warm and caring staff. This is what matters most. He also had friends among the other residents. The rooms are large with balconies, and there is a relaxed atmosphere with a large cat in residence. For most of the time we were here, Marta was the activity director and she created a living heart for this place. Dmitry, the director, is a good guy. In my opinion the food could be healthier and they could have more physical activities, but my father pretty much only ate his desserts anyway and I'm not sure how many of these places shop at farmers' markets and have yoga classes. :-) We were guided here by a assisted living specialist. Courtyard Plaza is not fancy but, based on the options I saw, it is the best you can find remotely in this price range. read more

My family likes to be very involved in decision-making. Evelyn and the team were so kind and supportive as we trucked our family in there day after day for an entire week, first deciding to move my father in and then getting him settled there. It is hard to please my father, and he absolutely adores Griselda. I think my mother (who has been divorced from my father for 35 years) said it best, "This is a place where I would be happy to live." read more

I recently lost my father who spent the last four years of his life at Courtyard Plaza. During his time there he would always say to me, "They take such good care of me here." Rarely was there a time I wouldn't be on the phone with him where someone wasn't either coming in to check on him or caring for him. The staff not only felt like family to him, but to me as well. The manager Evelina Papazyan does such a great job especially during this pandemic to keep everyone safe and cared for. I was very involved in my father's care and would call Courtyard all the time with various requests for him and they took the time to address everything with compassion--especially Indra. Indra is truly an angel on Earth and would do anything for the residents--all of the staff would. Harry the med tech is incredible as well meticulously making sure everything is in order with the kindest demeanor. I can't begin to express the comfort I had knowing that during this quarantine when I couldn't be by my father's side, he had people with him who had love in their hearts. I am extremely grateful to everyone at Courtyard Plaza. read more

When you have to put someone you care about in a facility for their own care, it is a difficult and torturing decision to make. We had been taking care of our friend Flo for a couple of years as she went through the loss of her 45 year partner, Irene. Flo began sundowning and we feared the worst. She had been a victim of elder abuse when someone tried to take her home. We stepped in to help as much as we could, we could see that she truly needed round the clock support. Courtyard gave us that and many unexpected wonderful surprises as well. Once, my husband and I went to check on Flo, and we found the caregivers singing to her, entertaining her, caring about her well being. They never saw us. We just watched as they made her day. Every person who helped Flo was loving and kind and very patient. Flo passed away a few weeks ago, and knowing she was a former minister, the caregivers prayed with her as she left this world. I remember Flo enjoying the food, the friendliness, activities, and most of all the love they gave. If you are wondering about a place for someone you love, you cannot do better. read more

My husband's grandmother has been living there for a few years now and we have been very delighted with her care. She is happy when we see her and that is the most important thing for us. The facility is well cared for and everyone that works there goes above and beyond to make the residents feel special. We especially like all of the events they put on to keep the residents entertained. I couldn't ask for a better place for her. read more

After reading the only other review I felt the need to write and tell of my own experience. The Courtyard Plaza is a WONDERFUL facility. I checked out 5 different facilities in the Valley before choosing this one. Gloria the administrator is one of the most kind hearted, nicest people I've ever met. The staff was extremely friendly and contstantly talking to the residents. I was invited to participate in some activities and have lunch and it was delicious. I had the salad bar(A daily feature), homemade chili and homemade cornbread and an awesome grilled ham & cheese sandwhich. The desert was ice cream and sherbet and you could have as much as you want. The facility is extremely clean and well kept...especially compared to some of the other places I visited in the area. And they include ALOT with your basic room cost: including 3x assisted showers a week, medicine mgt, help getting around if needed etc. The rooms are equipped with central air/heat, balconies, furniture, individual bath/toilet. And the courtyards are beautiful - fountains, rose bushes, benches. The dining room is gorgeous - high ceilings, wooden beams. And they have great activities as well as someone to take them on trips etc. I feel very lucky to have found this place for an elderly friend of mine. read more

My mother lived at this facility for 4 years, until shortly before her death. At the time she could no longer live alone but was still somewhat independent. We found the staff very friendly, the residents were happy and all seemed to know each other and get along. The facility provides plenty of activities and has a van to take residents to doctor appointments and personal shopping. My mother was not as social as many others that lived there and she was never pushed to do more than she wanted. She was very happy living there. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place. read more

Cheap,cheap,cheap. Food is terrible. For example the soup is water and corn starch with a few suspended frozen vegetables. Hard to find any real meat being served if you do, it is the poorest quality. Meals are all filled with pasta, rice. For "dessert" you get an entire 1/16 of a pie! Portions are small, not enough to feed a rat. The administrator says "old people don't eat much". These people are pretty helpless and can't speak up for themselves. All this for enormous amounts of money to live there!! Also they do not repair things well as that would cost money so they do a shabby sloppy job if they do it at all.They once let the water be cut off for 20 hrs because they were too cheap to hire a real plumber. A massive health hazard and they were reported and cited! They lie to you get you to get you in and then that's it, you're done for. You are not a client, you are $$ to them and you had better not ask them for any improvements that might cost 1 penny, (not exaggerating!). The neighborhood is noisy and drug infested and the place has been broken into with little old people getting their possessions stolen. The place sucks. read more
