He was not in the best of health when me moved in, obviously, but I noticed a huge decline during his time there. First, I noticed some cognitive decline and asked for months for them to get him into a neurologist for testing. They kept saying "we've asked the doctor for a referral and are just waiting on an appointment". Had that appointment happened, his cancer would have been found seven months sooner, and his quality of life would have been so much better. They called me at one point to say he passed out. They said he "refused transfer to the hospital". For the next week, I kept asking for a Neurologist; he clearly had some event that needed to be checked out. They eventually admitted he was given the wrong medication and passed out. They said it was a sedative, but I have no idea. When I was there, it was common for his room to reek so terribly of urine, I couldn't stay in the room. His refrigerator was moldy, they called one day to say they were going to replace his water bottle - it was moldy. The only thing ever in that bottle was water, they let it sit for so long that it was unusable. I brought cleaning supplies to clean the room myself. The room are the size of a small dorm room, yet I had to rinse the mop out every few feet. I must have rinsed it ten or twelve times and the rinse water was absolutely black every time. At one point, he was in the hospital for over a week; I went by to grab a few things and there was STILL FECAL MATTER ON HIS SHEETS. His bed was made, but the poopy sheets were still on it. Who does that??? When I left the room, I noticed a gentleman sleeping on the patio with a lit cigarette in his hand. I received a call one evening to say he had fallen. They were supposed to look in on him every two hours. I was told the staff member had seen him 45 minutes before, then when they went to give him his medication, he had fallen on the floor. The reality is that another resident's dog found him. When the resident tried to get their dog, they saw him on the floor and called for a staff member. At the hospital, I noticed his toe nails were so long that they actually curled under his toes. I understand they may not trim them, but let me know, and I'll take care of it for him. On top of everything, he had items stolen. He liked to keep $40 in his wallet so he didn't feel like he had no money, twice it was taken. Our mother's watch was also stolen; it wasn't worth anything, but it was the only thing he had of hers. Many of the staff really have their hearts in the right place. But Evergreen is so short-staffed that they can't do their job. Additionally, they've recently brought in a new director who seems incredibly inexperienced and absolutely awful at her job. When we finally removed his belongings from his room, we had to wear masks; it smelled so bad. At that point, he had not been there for over two weeks, and it still had not been cleaned. There's so much more I could write. Bringing him chili dogs when he returned from his chemo treatments, the filth of the place in general, and the "you know how the sister is" comments (yes, I loved my brother and was an advocate for him, THAT'S how a sister should be!) Please, please, please, do not bring your loved ones here. It's an awful place. The people running it don't care about your family or friend; they aren't there to serve them. I can not imagine how his care would have been had I not been there every day. Note: I tried to post a photo to Tanya, the Director with her TicTok photo. The director of evergreen has made life difficult for the patients since she started. Reports of theft have gone unreported, other patients have expressed feeling verbally abused by the director. She told a patient that is currently living there, to get her "white ass" out of her office and made negative remarks about her body. She then told the patient "no one will believe you if you report me". This is one of many instances of a patient being treated horribly by management. Other managers have left patients stranded when group trips take place, not being picked up until hours later when they've been standing in the cold until late. And another patient stated that the director threatens legal action against her if she were to report what she's done to the state. Going as far as to give her lawyers contact information. This is all public information within the patients and employees. Employees who have spoken out are then fired with no grounds. Patients are left in their soil for hours at a time, bed bugs run rampant and employees are hired with no legal status documentation because of their personal relationship to the director. The state of this business is horribly negative and the experience for the patients is abhorrent. The only ones left to suffer are the elderly in the care of this facility.

Ok so I'm finally going to share my experience with you all…read more My mom was in their care for just a couple of months. They won't work with you if you have Kaiser Permanente Insurance so we had to switch to Cigna. They transferred my mom to Culver City Hospital after I was told she would go to Cedars-Sinai for a few days to be evaluated. Do Not let them send your loved one to Culver City Hospital ever! My mom was starting to walk with her walker before they sent her there and now she still can't walk. She had a broken ankle from a fall but was 100% healed. Physical therapy at North Valley Nursing were the only one's caring and listening to my mom. They don't record or track the patients bowel movements from constipated to diarrhea, their pain or pain when urinating and they don't track when they aren't eating. The business office asked why I didn't come to them with my concerns...what the F! Why didn't your staff pay attention and say anything to the Head Nurse for my mom! Oh, I know why...because even when I expressed to the Head Nurse that I thought mom had "another" UTI she did contact the Dr. like I asked but just told me thy were giving her Imdiom for her diarrhea. Within 4 days I get a call that they have called 911 and are sending her to the ER, she's not eating, drinking and can't speak. They even told me the wrong Hospital that the ambulance was taking her to. We visited my mom about 5 days a week as my parents live in Sunland. I hope to God that Nurse isn't still employed there. She would never look up or engage me. It was like she just wanted me to walk away. Honestly this place was recommended to us but I'm telling you be careful. My mom was severely dehydrated and in kidney failure with a bad UTI. She spent 6 days in the hospital and was more alert and herself then when she was at North Valley Nursing. Trust me when I say I have seriously thought of reporting this place. I could continue with more but I hope this gives you an idea of how poorly they cared for her. Physical Therapy cared about my mom and would always update me, love them but the people who spend the most time with our loved one's need to pay better attention to them. I can honestly say at the new facility my mom has had no UTI's or health issues. Good luck if you use this Nursing Facility.
