Came here for the first time on a Wednesday late morning. It wasn't too busy at this time and there was parking available but construction surrounding the area. Inside the store it was nice and clean; well laid out. The bakery section looked so fresh and tempting. The meat area was also interesting. The best part was the prepared foods....the counter and the take-away options. I will definitely come here to get meals in our temporary residence. The drawback to shopping here is the price. Everything is so expensive. A package of goldfish crackers was $3.99!!! I held off buying some items on my list as they were double the price of what I normally pay. I asked Google where I could buy fresh local corn in Mississauga, and it sent me to Cousin's website that says this: "Cousin's Market carries the best corn in Ontario - picked locally at Welsh Brothers" So I drove there this morning through bumper to bumper traffic on the QEW and construction chaos on Hurontario and couldn't find any local corn. When I asked the cashier about it, she said the only corn they carry is the mostly shucked, wrapped in plastic, US imported crap that the major chains carry. Cousins: you lied to me, and wasted my time and gas. I will never shop there again, and will recommend to anyone who asks to do the same. read more

I worked here for 4 days in their office downstairs as an accountant basically. The owners know my family really well as my sister also worked for this company. So I was surprised when I quit, and they didnt pay me. They have avoided my emails, calls, and texts. They had other employees that had not been paid for over a month, and others were short hours. What a crap place to work. I wonder what he would say if I walked in there and just asked for my check, but the labor board is going to take care of it. If you work here, you are basically volunteering. They have a stack of papers taller than me of bills that they owe other companies. They drowning. read more

Don't let the façade fool you. Cousin's Market is one of the scummiest local supermarkets around. I have no problem saying that, because it seems everyone else in the community already said it before me. The number of stories I've heard over the years about the brothers who own this place would shock you. The way they pushed out Amadio's in favor of their own in-house chain (which died on the vine - it was garbage), the horror stories from former employees, the holier-than-thou attitude the management has... it all adds up to an underwhelming and often frustrating experience. The only reason this place gets two stars instead of one is because there is undeniable convenience when you need something quick, and sometimes (heavy emphasis on that word) they'll have some decent meal deals. Push past that, however, and you'll often find dodgy deals, overpriced food and sometimes wilted/freezer-dried goods that should not be on a shelf. When I went yesterday, I found that the store was in the process of renovating. They've got a new produce section (where the aforementioned pizza places used to be), except it's not even apparent that you can go to it, as it seems to be blocked by the meat and salad counter. There are no signs posted that renovation is still in-progress, and I turned a corner at the back of the store to find most of the lights off and a worker walking by with a look of disdain on his face. It seems like nobody really knows what's going on day-to-day, including the dime-a-dozen female cashiers who seem more interested chatting with each other than actually serving customers. I recognize that Cousin's has been around for a long time, but at this point, it's playing more to a captive audience (the ones who can't get to the nearby No Frills anymore) and the people in the immediate Mineola area than anyone else. To be honest, I don't see myself coming back here anytime soon. If I want selection, I'll take the half-hour to walk to the Loblaws or Metro, and if I want organic food, Whole Foods at Square One is a single bus ride away. read more

I place a order with Cousin Market when I arrived my order was not available. My arrival time was 4:50 pm on Friday on time. I spoke to Tony and he verbally told me if I can wait 30 minutes or he can deliver the order with an additional discount due to the inconvenience. The order arrived 1:20 minutes later. Which was extremely late. I was given the tray with some flowers and a folded receipt. After putting down the tray I open the receipt to find no discount. I immediately call but no one answered the phone. I tried Saturday morning and Tony answered. I verbally said to him I did not received the discount on my order because of not having my order when I arrived at Cousin's and a extremely late delivery. He completely change his wording ( LIE ) "and said he never said that ".I was shocked by his statement. BUT! he did say that he made a kind gesture by giving me flowers ( which I did not agreed to ). He refused to give me the discount that was promised by him verbally. I call a second time to speak to the owner and he also refused to compensate me and when on to say he run a multi million business. He blatantly disregard me with his untrue statement with the conversation with Tony. I do not like untruth people. Please don't treat people with dishonesty because one day your lies will expose you for who you really are. I will not recommend this Cousin's Market to anyone to avoid this happening to them. They are not trustworthy people and eventually they will be exposed for who they are. I am only one person speaking out about injustice. Treat everyone with honesty please. read more

I live around the corner of this place. I have come in for lots of things before. Platters for Christmas or parties or for work. I usually get my food and go. The food is good and fresh. Recently I needed to get some catered food for my work. I decided to get it from cousins. I called on a Wednesday morning 10:00 am and had a younger girl on the phone that was laughing with another employee while she took my call. I advised her I needed catering. She put me on hold came back and advised me someone would call back. I waited till about 6:00 without a call back and decided to give them a call on Thursday. I got an answer again from a younger girl who said sorry no one is here at the moment to talk about catering you will have to call back. I was busy at work and just decided I would go into the place on Friday. Walked in on Friday and a younger lady seemed a bit confused when I asked for catering. Then she gave me the catering menu and I pointed out a couple items. I advised I needed it for Saturday around 4 pm. She said sorry 48 hr notice. She said that's what I'm told to say nothing I can do. I don't remember the last time I have tried to hand hundreds of dollars to someone to cater a large corporate event and the people working there just refuse to take my money. While I understand the 48 hour notice. I called on Wednesday and never got called back. I then called on Thursday with no one there. Then went into the place on Friday and was turned away. I left cousins pretty upset. Driving along the lakeshore I decided I would stop in at Planet Organic food market. Thought I would see if they do catering. The manager came to me and said usually they need 48 hrs notice. But ... said that she could do it for me. 40 wraps and sandwiches. Insulted and dealt with sexual harassment and abuse from Produce Manager 'Alvaro' on an almost constant basis. I was constantly bullied and intimidated/threats in front of other employees, customers, delivery drivers and reps, including one time where the Owner 'Mark Battaglia' actually threatened to shoot me with a gun to boost his own ego. Had enough and reached my breaking point where I simply clocked out and left without speaking to anyone as my mental health was severely deteriorating at that point. Not a good place to work. Was there for 9 months in the grocery department where most of the time was working a multi person job alone without any assistance, high turnover as I worked with close to 30 different people in my department mostly teenagers with little to no experience or people constantly quitting or getting fired. My pay cheque every two weeks was on time for the first 5 months but once they switched from cheques to direct deposit it was constantly late for days at a time and was never on time for the last four months until my final one so I know they were withholding my pay and paying me when it was convenient to them. Don't be fooled by Mark's charm as he's the biggest two two faced phoney I've ever come across in my life. I'll never step foot in that place ever again and told all family and friends to do the same as this place doesn't deserve to represent the Port Credit area with this type of behaviour. It's sad that people treat each other like this especially in the workplace in this day and age. read more

We have been supporting Cousins as a local business for over 2 decades. All this while I held them in high regard. They had good quality, friendly staff and comparable prices. 3 weeks ago, they fell in my esteem by an act of greed and price gouging, which angered me immensely. My bought groceries, including 2 boxes of Clorox disinfecting wipes. Since she bought many items, she did not check prices of each item at the time. When she got home, we noticed that Cousins had charges approximately $15 per box! That is roughly 3 times the actual prices of Clorox or Lyson wipes! After a few days I was in the vicinity and I brought the boxes ( unopened and unused) as well as the receipt to the store. They refused to take it back. I left a a liitle annoyed but let it pass since it was not that important. 2 days ago I was in Freshco and I saw disinfecting wipes for $5.99. That angered me since it was now clear that Cousins was price gouging, unethically taking advantage of shortages caused by this cursed Pandemic. I am putting this on the rcord because in my heart I still have hope that their are ethical people in Cousins ownership and they will course correct. read more

Careful the owner is cheating customers. Gus, the owner wouldn't accept that his store was selling expired product. He accused me of lying and refused to accept a full refund or exchange of product that was expired. This echos the "holier-than-though" reviews I've seen from others. I'm very disappointed. PEOPLE GET SICK FROM EXPIRED FOOD! I'm appalled that he simply denies that it would be possible from his store and instead accuses me of something. What's most disturbing is HOW he handled it. It's not smart to accuse your customers. What is he trying to hide? read more

Nice store, convenient location. The good news: excellent meat and the prepared foods are quite tasty. The bad news: Often overpriced, and WATCH THE EXPIRATION DATES. They often forget to remove spoiled items. ALSO WATCH THE PRICES AT CHECK-OUT. The "special prices" in the aisles are often not special at the register and many standard products (cereal, milk, yoghurt) are marked up an extra $ or 2 at the cash register. If you ask, they'll do a price check and fix your bill but they will not fix the problem. Wish they would because otherwise I would shop there more often. read more

I used to work at cousins and lasted about 3 and half months in total but let me tell you it wasn't long before I got frustrated. I find that the way management is run is rather poor, training lasts a day and isn't even proper yet when I first began working with Longo's training goes on for awhile before you're on your own but you'd still have someone around assistance. The fact that there's no trainer to properly train newcomers is ridiculous, because the employees who have been around longer seem to hold in some kind of grudge when you approach them for help on a piece of machinery you're not comfortable with, maybe it's something you shouldn't take personally but I don't appreciate it. Going back to management, aside from earliest day you're suppose to give in your availability the rest of how schedules are made is what confused me, I also hated getting voicemails from one of the brothers saying how I should have called ahead if something was up with my schedule, I do have a busy life and I'm no manager therefore I'm not gonna be late to my destination every time because someone who makes my schedule is going by their own rules instead of checking with me. Last thing I wanted to include, when it comes to closing shifts it's disgusting that right before I'm about to throw out a cloth I used to clean counters that I get told to leave it aside instead of throwing it out. The only plus about this place was the particular people I had the privilege of working with and one that was a cashier that I wish I kept in touch with but that is all. read more

I am very undecided about his place. Yes - it's convenient as I live close by - BUT the prices are ridiculous. I compared a couple of items from the local Fresh Co and Metro and Cousin's adds a couple of dollars to their canned/dry goods. Also their produce is overpriced such as their asparagus which is always a couple of dollars per pound more expensive then the other grocery stores close by. Their roast chicken, made on location, is ruined as it is slathered with horrible bbq sauce. In fact, most of their hot meat items are slathered in this sauce. Their customer service is simply deplorable. Their cashiers look miserable and pained even when they have to say the total price of your order. The parking is a mess. Very dangerous. Lastly, and certainly not least, the male employees noticeably come out and circle any good looking girl, woman, lady etc... that walks in to the store. I know this because it happens to me and makes me uncomfortable. They will slowly yet obviously start coming out of the back and the aisles and circle/pass by you a couple of times. I swear sometimes they are notified through walkie talkies or something that a 'female has entered the store' and they start coming out like vultures. read more
