Teaching is age appropriate and fun. I love that they spend a good majority of the day outside. The staff and admin is highly communicative and they've committed to a model that ensures family involvement. The schedules provide a variety of fits for different family needs. The community as a whole is the best of Costa Mesa / HB vibes. Most importantly, my kids are taught about Jesus from an extended community of influences they admire. We especially appreciate that the school is WASC-accredited as well as NLSA through Lutheran Schools, which reflects its commitment to maintaining high educational standards. The curriculum is thoughtfully chosen and taught, and the communication between teachers and families has always been excellent. Most importantly, our children looked forward to going to school every day. They formed lasting friendships, developed a love of learning, and built a strong foundation both academically and spiritually. I appreciate the weekly email newsletters, emails with other special info as well as the verbal updates we receive when picking up/ dropping off. Our girls love coming here and I can see that the teachers truly love their students. Our daughters are safe and well cared for. I'm glad that the children are learning at their own pace through play and also picking up valuable social skills by interacting with children their age. My family is not a particularly religious one, however we don't mind our girls learning about Jesus and Christian values. The school is inclusive of all people which is important to us.

It was very hard to find a place that would help young children who are behind the curve. In my son's case (3 years at that time), he wasn't potty trained and needed assistance with speech. After meeting with Lesieli, the preschool director, I decided to take a chance with Sunrise. It was probably the best decision I made for my son. The teachers took great lengths to help with his development and reached out anytime for input in bettering methods for my son. We always felt welcomed and comfortable each day for drop off and pick up. They do many different activities and events throughout the year, which allowed me to really see my son's growth. The monthly tuition is pretty affordable compared to other preschools. My son's previous preschool (in Irvine) was almost double the amount of Sunrise's. I definitely felt I got my dollar's worth and much more with Sunrise. They provide a well-rounded education and social experiences at an amazing, competitive value. It also helps that the preschool runs several fundraisers throughout the year so the needed costs to run things is more dispersed. I really love and sincerely appreciate how much Sunrise contributed to my son's development and core memories. They are a wonderful community of teachers who are incredibly invested in early learning and the children who attend Sunrise. I can't praise them enough.

My son, who is now 17, attended OC Montessori Academy years ago, and now my daughter is enrolled. One of the most meaningful parts of our experience is that my son's preschool teacher, Ms. Teama, is now my daughter's teacher -- which speaks volumes about the consistency and long-term commitment of the staff. I was amazed to see how quickly my daughter began reading and writing in kindergarten. She has advanced tremendously, and the confidence she carries in her learning has been incredible to witness. I feel the need to write a review for this school even though it was years ago, in hopes maybe…read moresomeone will see it and make some changes so no one ever has to go through what we did. This school was awful to my severely special needs son. They forced us to do grade level curriculum and refused to modify the curriculum or the work load even though my son was developmentally at a toddler level and not even close to grade level. I even spoke with the superintendent and they refused to make any exceptions even though he had an IEP. It resulted in my son hating school and having massive frustrations. They also would have me sit for hours trying to do standardized tests with him that he didn't even understand. The academic tutoring session that we were offered since he had an IEP was equally as awful. They had him join a group session with kids that were grade levels above him, needless to say he was confused and frustrated and felt defeated. The teacher was supposed to implement certain supports during his session, also noted in his IEP-she was never consistent with it and it ended up with my son severely frustrated. It took me so long to write this because I just thought all public schools were the same-until he ended up at the wonderful school we are currently at and a wonderful teacher. Please avoid this school especially if you have a special needs child or need extra supports.

First, I want to say that my interactions with the front office have been wonderful. Everyone has been professional, helpful, and welcoming. The preschool itself is clean, organized, and extremely well run. The teachers are loving, patient, and knowledgeable. Every time I'm there, they have the cutest little stations set up with fun, creative activities for the kids. You can tell there is so much thought and effort put into what the children are doing and learning each day. Ms. Ellie deserves a special mention. She is one of the most loving and patient administrators I have ever met, and she is also incredibly knowledgeable. She genuinely cares about the children and their success. We visited A LOT of private schools trying to find the right fit for my child. My child is not always the easiest, and finding a school where he would truly be understood, supported, and accepted was extremely important to us. He has absolutely THRIVED at this school. They have been willing to work with him, meet him where he is, and do whatever they can to help him succeed. That means more to our family than I can put into words. The communication is also amazing. The teachers update parents through the app and send pictures, so you actually get to see what your child is doing throughout the day. They also send home activities and homework connected to what the kids worked on that day, which I absolutely love. We have been so happy here that I already cannot wait to enroll my daughter when she is 2.8 years old! I truly don't think I could give this preschool enough positive feedback. Finding a place where you feel comfortable leaving your child is such a big deal, and finding a place where your child is genuinely happy, supported, learning, and thriving is even more special. I visited seven other private Christian schools in the area, and while they were nice, Covenant stood out. When I visited Covenant, I immediately felt something different. After speaking with Mr. Furey, it was clear that he genuinely loves the Lord, his work, and the students. He thoughtfully answered my questions about how the school operates and its commitment to biblical truths. By the end of our meeting, I knew Covenant was the right choice for my daughter.
