It is so hard for me to write about this school. My youngest child was traumatized here and has not healed. We were only at Covenant Day School briefly a couple of years ago. It has taken time to reveal the extent of the damage to his heart. We put a lot of hope in this being the perfect school for our 4 kids. Great leadership - my favorite celebrity pastor on the Board. The best theology. Challenging academics. Strong community. We could not find a school like this anywhere else. What could go wrong? The kids. The kids here know exactly how to appear as Christians and give right answers and charm adults to win the coveted "Best Christian" awards. But they step on each other to elevate themselves rather than lending a hand to lift each other up. It is a very competitive place in sports and academics and cut-throat socially. It is NOT a wholesome place. These kids are on their phones absorbing and propagating the exact same messages you are hoping to pay for a Christian school to get away from. There are family names at this school and their kids could get away with murder and they know it. If your child is one of their hapless victims, the school would just tell you to pursue Matthew 18 and say reassuringly, "Sin is everywhere." The bullying among the kids is the worst I have ever seen or heard of. It absolutely totally broke our 5th grader and he was only there for a few months. He had been very sheltered his whole life at a small Christian private school, so when he got to this school, the boys in his grade quickly took advantage of that for their own entertainment and mocked, degraded and brutalized him until he believed them - that he was indeed a gay a** pu***. This actually may be the most expensive private school you ever send your kid to, because the messages he absorbed here about himself and the therapy he needs now are exorbitant...there is no end in sight and we are praying for God to do a miracle in his life. But the kids would not be empowered to be the way they are without the adults at this school enabling them. All the adults smile and pretend like everything is fine because they are horrified at the idea of confronting one another or offending any of the "important families." They are all cowardly people-pleasing addicts who care more about maintaining their own spot-in-the-pecking-order than putting that at risk to protect and defend a child who desperately needs a hero. I can't not write a review because I sure wish we'd been warned before entrusting this place with my children. read more

This is the best school ever. I've been going here for 6 years now. The teachers are great and super friendly.

Great school, great administration, and teachers that really care about your student/child. The curriculum is biblically based and brings your student along with a firm foundation in the gospel, along with strong academics and plenty of extracurriculars. The community is the absolute best part. Families get to know each other and hangout frequently. This is a top notch school!! read more

Covenant Day School has been such a blessing. We have not had one teacher that we do not like and each teacher is devoted to integrate biblical principles in their teaching. They work along side the parents to raise up your children with a Christ-like mindset and they strive for academic excellence. We have been at the school for the past six years and do not regret anything about it. I highly recommend if you put your Christian values in the forefront of your parenting. One of the most entertaining interviews I've been in. Instead of gaining a deeper understanding of the school mission and vision I was grilled on my religious philosophy, asked to lead the prayer, and answered other condescending questions. I really left wondering who was spending 15k and who was the applicant. They spent more time on me than my child. I've known other parents that had similar experiences. Too many other good options in Charlotte that are more welcoming. On the other hand if you are a hard core creationist and enjoy all the warmth of a Paris Island drill instructor during your interview, this might be the place for you. read more

This school is run like it's in the 1980s. Very behind on technology. Many parents teach there who have little teaching experience, and no teaching degree-and they often hire teachers who were fired at well liked public schools in the area. One teacher in the MS this year was teaching 2 grade levels behind and failing kids. Parents complain all the time but complaints are met with accusations regarding the character of their child and the Midwestern cold shoulder at BEST. Often they refuse to hand over transcripts, fudge with grades on report cards and other petty things for speaking up. They fired a couple pedos without notifying parents. Children who receive detentions are to clean along side the janitor alone. My children came home injured and bruised a lot from recess or God knows what. Run from this place like it's a burning building. This is the tip of the iceberg. And if you are a conservative running from the extreme leftists in CMS-please know that there are people here who are just as liberal but masked in Christian legalism. Don't fall for the world class A+ marketing and their PR phrases like "it was COVID! Or now we have a new director!" Niche says 10:1 ratio of staff. It's 23:1 in every elementary class. THEY provided this false data to Niche. Also, Please note all the staff touching children in their Instagram photos. Creepy. read more

We moved to CDS 4 years ago from another area Christian School. CDS was so welcoming and my kids love it. They stand behind academic excellence while also holding firm to the gospel and grace. The middle school in particular is phenomenal! read more
