No communication was sent after the initial deposit was sent, including the final amount due or how payment was to be made. I finally followed up for a confirmation on our reservation. The response was "Yes, Confirmed" and nothing else. I arrived with a large group and was told $XXX was due and it needed to be paid with a check - of which I did not have on me. They did not take credit cards and finally said they would take Venmo. Luckily, I was able to find someone with access to our groups Venmo account and was able to make the payment. Otherwise, it sounded like they were not going to let the group ride. As for the actual riding event, the group enjoyed their time.

Today we visited Spider Lake Ranch for the first time and had the best time we have ever had! Their property is immaculate, the staff was very friendly and helpful and the horses were healthy, happy and very well trained. The ranch we used to go to had very narrow trails full of branches and prickly vines, the trails were sometimes very steep and rocky, and it was stressful and dangerous. Here the trails are super wide, well groomed and flat. They were very safe and easy to ride on. Most of the ride is in the shady woods, so if you're worried about the heat and sun it wasn't a concern at all. The bugs and horse flies were also not a problem. They actually sprayed the horses before we left! I have never seen horses that were so well behaved and easy to ride. We even had two young boys in our group who have only ridden once before and they did great. We cannot recommend this ranch enough. The owners and staff were so nice and their horses and property were impeccably maintained. We had a really great time. Be sure to trip them generously because we also felt like this was a great value for the money. The ride was more scenic and longer in duration than we expected. We will be back again next summer!

My granddaughter was so freaked out after that, she was crying and very upset she did not want to be on the horse at that point so we decided we were not go on the ride. Seeing that happen was very traumatic for her as well as us too not to mention it would not have been enjoyable for her anymore. The owner refused to give us our money back! I understand they have a policy which we signed but I'm sure its not everyday someone gets bucked off their horse! They are not even worthy of 1 star because of how insensitive the owner was in this situation.

I have never found a place like this before. It is so hard to find a place to go horseback riding that I am willing to drive 2 hours to go here. They have beautiful trails on 40 plus acres and a pond. It's great for kids, adults, couples, groups, and people with disabilities. They accommodate people who are in wheelchairs. Please check them out! Parking is right next to the barn. Again, you will never find a place like this anywhere!!! I have tried and I haven't found a place like this in southern Minnesota.

My family visited to see a horse…read moreand that same day, we made it clear that we wanted to move forward with purchasing him and would pay in cash pending the vet's clearance. We were simply waiting on final feedback from the vet and felt confident about the next steps. However, we were later told that the horse had been shown to another interested party who ended up placing a deposit. At no point during our visit or follow-up were we informed that a deposit was required to secure him. We absolutely would have placed a deposit immediately if that had been communicated. We were told an email had been sent, but it was missed during a busy workday. Given how time-sensitive these situations are, a quick phone call would have made all the difference--especially since we were only contacted by phone after the horse was no longer available.  Overall, the lack of clear and timely communication was extremely frustrating and left us heartbroken. We hope this feedback encourages better communication practices in the future so other families don't have a similar experience.

Jennifer, Grace and Bri are all tremendous instructors -- very detailed and attentive.
