I sent my puppy, Sookie, to the 8-week program when she was 8 months old. I had been referred by friends who had sent their dogs to Neuman in the past, and while I knew it was a great program, I still went back and forth on whether to send my own dog given she was becoming a pretty good puppy already. However, I ultimately decided to send her knowing they would train her the right way and set her up for long-term success. What I did not expect was how the team was able to take her from a good dog to a GREAT dog. She now walks very nicely on the leash, waits patiently before coming out of her kennel or going through doorways, goes to her "place" while we eat meals, and can sit/down + stay like a pro. In addition to all of that, my favorite part has been her incredible recall. We take nature walks several times a week where she's able to be off leash. When we see other people, dogs, or wildlife and I call her back to me, she responds every time. I often get comments about how well behaved she is, especially for a young dog! I am so grateful for the freedom this training has enabled for her (and me!) - Sookie is able to go many more places and do more things than I ever imagined. While maintaining her training does require a couple extra minutes every day to run through the commands, it has been fun and rewarding to work on it with her. I look forward to sending Sookie back for boarding and participation in some of the more advanced training programs. I will always trust Neuman with Sookie's care and training as they truly feel like always-on partners/advisors in raising a dog. I would highly recommend them to anyone considering the program.

I have a 5 year old mixed breed dog, who is very quick to learn new tricks, has been to multiple training classes with several different instructors and I hesitated a little bit at the basic training because I thought she knew it all. Boy was I wrong. Working on basic commands in a different way was very eye opening for me, and we have changed some of our routines based on what I learned in this class. My dog has trouble at the door when people enter our house, so we are working on that, and the simple sit or down stay is really important for her. If she can master a long down stay, then we can test her with people at the door. It isn't something I even thought of. The importance of her looking at me when I call her name is another thing that I had not worked on, but we do that now every time I take her for a walk. If she should get away from me, and has mastered that then I know she will look at me when I call her name. My expectations of this class were exceeded, and I am very happy that I attended. I look forward to attending additional classes in the future, and learning more about the behavior of my dog and the other dogs in the class. Watching them interact and having Justin explain what's really going on in their dog brains was enlightening. His training style is non-judgmental and takes into consideration what you want for you and your dog, which is refreshing having been to many different training programs who think their way is the only way.

We did some research, and although there's companies out there that all sound like they do the same thing, I can tell you, they don't. From the moment I spoke to the Hidden Fence Of people I knew that they were customer service oriented. They came out the very next day and dropped some line around the perimeter of the house, even though there was 2 feet of snow. And they will be back to bury it come spring time. The gentleman that came out and spent about an hour working with me on training. It was very easy, and within about a month my dog was off leash and not venturing out of the yard anymore. One of the concerns I had going in was that would the collar be painful for my dog. So I tried it out on my self and it is basically nothing more than a vibration and not a painful shock which I think other companies use. As my dog approaches the perimeter, there is a beeping sound and vibration, and right away he knew that he has gone too far.
