Covent Garden Playground is the only playground that I encountered on my recent visit to London. I always saw little ones playing in the park on my visits.
The Park is part English garden and part playground. Spring flowers were starting to emerge during my visit. A charming little caretaker's building sits near the entrance to the park.
The playground has a soft matting beneath the equipment to keep the kids safe. A climbing structure is suitable for kids 10 and under. There is a nice water fountain to keep everyone hydrated. Seating is available throughout the area.
A sign summarizes the rich 150 year history of the courtyard. The space was previously a church yard. Descriptions of the space even appear in one of Charles Dickens' novels. The playground and gardens are a work in progress with over 150 species of plants.
There is no charge to use the playground or park. The gates close at dusk. This is a great space to bring the kids or imagine Dickens writing under a tree. read more
