Give me some Cover Me Badd... I have been a fan of this cover band since 2012 when I first saw them perform on stage at Thunder Valley Casino (free entertainment on Main Stage). I love the 80's as we all saw the emergence of dance music and new wave in this decade and they performed a lot of music from Top40 dance hits, to hip hop, and MTV. Sadly, Thunder Valley no longer have these weekend performances of free cover bands (bummer!) but I've followed Cover Me Badd at other venues from Concert on the Square in downtown Roseville to Red Hawk Casino in Placerville to Ace of Spades in Sacramento. This talented group of high energy musicians will keep you entertained whether you like to sing along with their jams or dance, dance, dance! This review has been long overdue! My husband and I got Cover Me Badd to perform at our wedding last August, and hands down they knocked it out of the ballpark! We got married a year ago, and people still come up to us today saying how amazing our wedding was given they LOVED the band! The following are the pros I would give: 1) Outstanding customer service! We did not use a wedding planner during the planning process, and Mike was phenomenal! If I had a question, he never responded less than an hour after I would email which made me have full faith in their work! It was extremely helpful how quick he was to return messages, and I could not have thanked him enough for how concise he was with making sure we got what we wanted from their service. We also did a Skype session together before the wedding that made me feel like he knew exactly what we wanted- he constantly checked in to make sure we felt like we were getting the service we paid for on our big day! 2) Options. When planning the songs and style we wanted for the music, the band offered a variety of songs/styles/outfits that let us tailor the music to our guests needs (and ours). We wanted a laid-back fun atmosphere, and Mike constantly checked in and asked questions in order to deliver. 3) Great vocals & skills. The band knew what they were doing, and everything sounded great. I have been to some weddings where a band seemed like a good idea, but the people performing were not skilled in entertaining. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE for Cover Me Badd! The music sounded great, the sound system was set-up well and was also wonderful. 4) ENTERTAINING! We asked the band to dress up in costumes (one of the options) which made a "let's get this party started" environment which we wanted. They constantly engaged with the guests, and one of my favorite moments of my wedding was when the band asked all the ladies to get on stage and sing one of the songs. They brought an energy to the wedding that was infectious- and everyone seemed to love it! I was constantly laughing, smiling and singing- all the guests appeared to do the same. I did not see anyone sitting off to the side and not participating, and we wanted to make sure that people enjoyed themselves. That they did! 5) THEY MADE IT FUN! Hands down, it was fun all thanks to the song selection, the entertainment value, and getting involved with us. They clearly showed that they cared about us, what they do, and that they wanted to make sure we had the time of our lives! These guys/girls absolutely CRUSHED it! Our reception was spent entirely on the dance floor dancing and singing our hearts out. Everyone (kids, friends and parents) loved them - their catalogue includes hits for everyone. We have yet to run into anyone who came to the wedding that didn't tell us they were the best wedding band they've heard. Cover Me Badd!! Where do I even begin? THIS. GROUP. ROCKS!!! When my now husband and I got engaged I was certain of only two things pertaining to the wedding: one, I wanted to marry David, and two, I wanted a live band for the reception. So, shortly after our engagement, I set out on a mission to find the best band in Northern California. I looked at A LOT of band websites and talked to booking agents from Sac to So Cal. When I reached out to Cover Me Badd I was immediately impressed with the quick and professional response I received from Mike (the band manager/guitarist/singer/MC). While we hadn't officially booked Cover Me Badd at this point, Mike spent a great deal of time communicating with us and he quickly became our go-to guy for all things wedding. Having a hard time finding the perfect venue? Mike had a list of options tailored to what we were looking for! Difficulty locating the best caterer? Mike had plenty of recommendations! Not sure what the layout of our not-so-conventional reception would look like? Mike had numerous suggestions based on his vast experience in the industry! We were fairly certain we wanted to hire Cover Me Badd at that point, but when we saw them play live at a local venue, there was no question. THEY were IT!!! We were blown away by their performance! From the singing to the choreographed dances to the mix of songs- it was EXACTLY what our party needed! We booked Cover Me Badd that night. Mike went above and beyond throughout the entire planning process. To say he exceeded our expectations would be an understatement. He was readily available to offer guidance, assistance, and support. He met with us to get to know David and I as a couple, and we could see that he was not only passionate about his band, but also passionate about creating a truly memorable and one-of-a-kind experience for us and our guests. When the band started their first set the dance floor instantly flooded with wedding guests. David and I were out on the dance floor boogying down with guests who later told me they NEVER dance. The floor was packed throughout the entire reception. I have never been to a wedding where so many people danced the whole time! It was even better than I envisioned it would be. To this day our friends and family who attended our party still comment on the band and tell us that we hosted the best wedding reception they have ever been to. Cover Me Badd is amazing! Mike, who manages the bookings and everything related to the day is so responsive. We had heard about Cover Me Badd through our venue and submitted a request. Mike responded within minutes saying he had time to chat later that afternoon. Turns out he was playing a wedding at our alma mater, and we had friends at the wedding. One of our friends (who has been to a TON of weddings) said it was the best wedding band he had ever seen. We signed the contract within hours and were so excited for the event. Mike has a very organized spreadsheet with songs, and creates a personalized document to organize everything for the day of. He MC'ed the entire night, and even learned our first dance song and the mother/son dance song. We had various chats over the phone and via email to ensure everything was going to work out perfectly for the day of, and it did! We cannot say enough good things about Mike and the Cover Me Badd crew. When planning a wedding, there are a lot of stressors that the couple encounters along the way, and I've got to say that hiring and working with Cover Me Badd was so easy, we just knew and trusted right away that we were in good hands with Mike and the team. We had just a few conversations to fine-tune some details and everything else was just taken care of without any additional time or stress. Their musical offerings are fantastic. We have been to many weddings, but this band that we hired for our daughter's wedding is the best we've ever heard. First, they were incredibly easy to work with and always responsive. Even more importantly, they were awesome performers and entertainers.. Everyone was on the dance floor the whole night. Usually the older folks dance, then the younger ones. Cover Me Badd performed at the wedding that I coordinated on Saturday, and it was truly a pleasure working with them! They are by far the best live band I've ever seen perform at a wedding, and they were so easy to work with. They are worth every penny and will help make your wedding day a breeze. The bride and I had an incredibly easy time communicating with Mike throughout the entire process. He is responsive, professional, and really good at what he does. He made sure to check in throughout the planning process, and even communicated with other vendors to make sure everyone was on the same page. Many of the other vendors sent me emails complimenting Mike on his professionalism and great communication. Not only did they serve as the live band for the evening, but they were also in charge of MC (Mike did a great job), reception and dinner music of choice (which they played on their ipod/sound system), wireless microphones/full sound system, plus all their time of setting up. Their energy was a 10 the entire evening, and people danced until the very end of the night. Mike was so on top of the timeline and assisted with keeping everything on schedule. He definitely made my job a lot easier that evening! The band is incredibly talented. Their voices are amazing, and they have great energy. These guys are effin amaze balls! My husband and I hired them for our wedding and people are still talking about them non-stop. If you're considering hiring them for your event, do it! But here's some assurance to any readers who are thinking about booking them and why we're giving them 5 stars: Music Talent - If you're a music lover, then you already know that live music kicks ass way better than a DJ. But these guys aren't good just because they're a live band. The lead singers' voices are incredible. When the band was playing at our wedding, I witnessed a group of our friends look at each other as one of the lead female vocalist hit a note, and they all did the DAMN look and said, "she's killing it." After the wedding, I saw some family afterwards and they even asked me if the band was lip-syncing cause they thought they were too good to be singing live! All the other musicians are bad ass as well. They do incredible mash ups of songs and know how to jam. Our venue was a large room with brick walls, and yet they knew how to control the sound from bouncing. They also learned some new songs that we requested and nailed them. All in all, we had around 160 people at our wedding and there was around 160 people on the dance floor the entire time the band was playing. They know how to energize a crowd for sure! As I said before, our friends and family still can't stop talking about them and how fun our wedding was. Bang for your Buck - I did my research on bands and by far these guys are the most affordable. I won't disclose what we paid, but I can tell you right now that I did my full research on other Sacramento/Bay Area local bands and the other bands were trying to ask for an obscene amount of money. For what we paid, we got an MC (and Mike was awesome), reception and dinner music of our choice (which they played on their ipod/sound system), live reception music (of course the band killed it), wireless microphones/full sound system, plus all their time of setting up and being at the wedding (I'm sure it was an 8 hour day if not more for them). If you do the math - it's a good effin deal compared to what you probably will have to pay your other wedding vendors and an even better deal if you go with another band who'll probably dick you around and make you get another MC for your event, or will play less time than Cover Me Badd did. Organization - Mike was so freakin organized and the band was just so professional. Mike has these dope agenda/music cheat sheets that basically forces you to get your wedding timeline and song request lists together, which is a good thing. On wedding day, the band members were all smiling and present - they looked like they were happy to be there. Of course, they had everything set up and ready to roll before the attendees got there. Mike was so good at working with the other vendors to make sure everything was flowing on time or collaborating with the photographers and caterers and venue people to make sure everything was going down the way it needed to. Communication - Oh man, Mike's communication was impeccable. He not only met with us several times, but he responded to e-mails faster than my own co-workers do. He also was good at checking in to see if any of our song requests/lists had changed. Since the time we booked them (which was almost a year ago), he made sure to follow up and offer any help or guidance. You're just not going to get that with any other professional live band you book with for a wedding. It's so frustrating when you can't get someone to e-mail you back with any questions that you have, but these guys get back to you right away. Unbelievable Customer Service - Best examples that I can tell you is that Mike meets with you in person (if you're out of town that might be a little harder, but I'm sure he would have phone conversations with you multiple times) several times before the wedding just to get to know you, so that they can get a feel of your style and what music you are in to and what your wedding will be like. Mike even scoped out our venue without us being there just to see what the building and sound quality would be like...so nice! I think we may have changed our "first dance" tunes a 1000 times, and he was patient and so willing to help us find the right version of what we wanted to play. Mike even came one night to the venue after asking him just that morning, so that he could be introduced to our caterers and the venue staff. Basically, the whole time you are working with Mike or the band, you always feel assured that you hired the right people - and that's the way it should be. He took the time to listen to our vision and consider our interests, while getting to know us personally before flawlessly putting together the greatest show we've ever been a part of... Lorraine (lead singer) reproduced Etta James' "At Last" for our first dance - a mesmerizing experience to say the least, her voice one of the few I could imagine capable of pulling off such a task. It resonates now weeks later, and I simply feel grateful for her role in our special night. While unquestionably epic as musical talent, Cover Me Badd also delivers as a flexible, creative group of first-class entertainers. They rock, they groove, they jive - and just when you think it couldn't get any livelier, here comes Mike jammin' as he circles me and my throwing-her-arms-in-the-air bride during Journey's "Don't Stop Believin"... or earlier we spot Leo up in the Elk's Tower balcony with a few crazies, just swerving their reservations away and belting down on the rest of the never-not-full dance floor. Wowie! We knew from the start we wanted a band over a DJ for the experience, but we had no idea how awesome this gang would be. They were super easy and flexible as far as communication went. Mike was our main contact and he responded to emails within the hour. They made an exception and learned a live song for my father daughter dance, even after their usual deadline, and really went the extra mile as far as customer service was concerned. Mike answered our emails quickly and in some instances within an hour of sending. His fast responses just made the planning so much easier. I know I had some vendors who didn't reply as fast and let me tell you, it gave me some anxiety. But Mike just understood the stress that comes with wedding planning so he just made everything so much easier. Mike also took the time out to meet with us about 7 months before the big day just to get to know us and get a feel for our wedding day. The one thing that impressed me about Mike was his attention to detail. We had a wedding website and he took time before the meeting to look through the site. For example, he read that my brother played the guitar and suggested my brother play a song during the wedding. That added detail just made the night that much better. Also they are open to special requests to learn songs not on their list. We really wanted to have our first dance played live and they were more than willing to learn the song. Happy to say our choreographed dance to their song went perfect! Also their song list had a good variety. They got everyone dancing! During the couple times that the dance floor wasn't quite full, two of the band members came off the stage onto the floor to prevent it from feeling empty. I can't see enough about Cover Me Badd. From the time we first reached out to them to their fun energy throughout the night, they were PERFECT. I'll start off by saying that they are incredibly easy to communicate and plan with. Mike is super responsive and happy to answer any questions you might have. Plus, they are super accommodating and really make you feel like you're the only wedding they have on the calendar all year! Leading up to the wedding, everything seemed super well organized and I knew I didn't need to worry about little details. Now, to the night of the wedding, they brought the party!!! Before I started this review I read the other 5 star reviews and each one said exactly what I wanted to write. Mike Woodall and the Cover Me Badd crew were absolutely fantastic. We met with Mike to plan the event, not that we needed to meet in person but it was fun for him to get to know the bride and groom and vice versa (and me, the mother of the bride who tagged along). He covered absolutely everything as the emcee starting with the slide show and wedding ceremony video (private ceremony held on the coast 4 days earlier), bridal party introductions, toasts, father-daughter dance, bouquet and garter toss. Mike kept things moving at the perfect pace. CMB brought along up-lighting, spot light, and other fun lighting which added to the ambiance of the Elks Tower Grand Ballroom. As the other reviewers noted, once the live music started the dance floor filled and we danced for three hours. It was pretty unanimous from all the guests I spoke with that this was the best reception/dance party they had ever been to. Looking back at the video of the reception this morning, I was all smiles reliving the evening and the fun had by all. Cover Me Badd is an absolutely epic wedding band!! They played at our outdoor wedding at Sugar Bowl, CA in July 2017 and they were phenomenal--energetic, fun and incredibly talented! Not only was Mike (the band manager) professional, organized, and super easy to work with, but he did an amazing job catering to our needs and special requests for the evening including all different genres for the ceremony, dinner, and dancing. They even allowed our friend, who is a singer, to come onstage for a song to sing with them! Cover Me Badd (Sacramento) did an awesome job with our wedding music! We got married at a private winery in St. Helena, CA (Napa Valley) at a remote venue where we had to bring everything in from power sources and porta potties to lights and equipment rentals. Mike was an absolute pleasure to deal with and made the whole process of choosing our various walking down the aisle, first dance music, cocktail hour music and live band sets super easy. He was very detail oriented and followed up on things like ensuring we had the right dance floor/stage setup, generators and enough power to get the party started! The band is much more reasonably priced than bands out of San Francisco - an important consideration factor for an equidistant locale like Napa Valley. They had great suggestions and recommendations for which songs would flow best and learned a few new songs at our request, like Frank Sinatra's "The Way You Look Tonight" for our first dance. The music suited everyone - there was at least one song for every person there that got them up dancing and there was even the Chicken Dance for our Wisconsin relatives! We closed the night with "Piano Man" and absolutely everyone was on the dance floor, soaking up the night! They did a great job getting the crowd going and getting everyone out on the floor dancing. 5-star vendor interactions and 5-star music experience. Mike and the guys of Cover Me Badd were FANTASTIC!! They were the first and only band we looked at to play at our wedding. Right away we knew they would be perfect for us, and they most defiantly did not disappoint! Everyone at the wedding raved at how awesome the band was. One couple even changed their future wedding plans just so they could have Cover Me Badd perform at their reception as well. They are SO fun and bring so much energy to the party.
