What Restaurants are in the area?

There are many within walking distance. I recommend Cafeteria 15L at the corner of L and 15th. Great happy hour specials and good entrees in the restaurant also.

I have season tickets to the "Broadway Series" and of course seeing all the traveling shows is always a mixed bag.

I finally got to see The Lion King for the very first time, something I've wanted to experience for many years, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. I went solo and honestly loved the experience. I purposely chose an aisle seat so I could watch the performers move up and down the aisles, and I'm so glad I did. It made the show feel even more immersive and special, especially during those moments when the cast comes through the audience. The venue itself is beautiful and easy to navigate. From entering the building to finding my seat, everything felt organized and smooth. The seating was comfortable, the sightlines were great, and the sound quality was excellent, which really matters for a production like this. As for The Lion King, it was amazing. The costumes, music, and staging were stunning, and seeing it live after wanting to for so long made it even more meaningful. Overall, such a great first experience at this venue. I would absolutely come back to see another performance here, and I'm so glad this is where I finally got to see a show that had been on my list for years

The stage lighting and sound was great and the guy we met in the front wearing I think a kimono did a wonderful job in that! He was cool and chill in his kimono! Everyone was very nice. They had a reasonably priced bar of snacks, drinks and beer, etc. Ot seemed to be a cozy theater and had a nice outdoor patio area to lounge around. Parking is ample as there is a parking lot across the street. I parked on the curb and my "special" spot was the only one missing a parking meter! The staff told me it is the lucky spot and you don't have to feed the meter( hole in the ground where they took it away I guess)! So that is my special tip for you- almost in front of the theater, but back a bit in front of a brick lawyer's building in front of a tree! Free parking! You're welcome! And just to confirm, I had a heart attack when the meter police came to check the cars and meters and he heard me say I better get to the car! He was right behind me following me, but left when he saw no meter- so SAFE to park without paying! Lol- I almost had a heart attack!

Kim's little homey cottage is located right next to the Sierra 2 Center in East Sacramento and there is street parking available. The class for my daughter's age group is on Tuesdays from 5-7pm with 1 hour being for singing/voice lessons and the other 1 hour being for dance lessons. There are 4 classes a month essentially for under $200. Kim was very professional and great with the kids! It was fun to see new and returning students in her class and to see who was comfortable and who was still coming out of their shell. My daughter had a great time at the trail class, but she currently does another activity on Tuesdays so the class for her age group isn't a good fit for us right now, but we hope to come back and join Kim's class in the future. Give them a call or visit if you or your kids are interested in Performing Arts - Kim has been around for 30+ years and you can tell how much she loves what she does!

Since my last review in 2022, I've seen RENT (2023), Spongebob Squarepants (2024), Waitress…read more(2024), Jersey Boys (2024), and In the Heights (2025) at Music Circus (UCD Health Pavilion). I generally prefer weekend matinees, but have also done weeknight shows. Due to the circular staging, every seat in the house is a great view. Sometimes the action is in the aisles or overhead! As with Broadway Sacramento at the SAFE PAC, they do electronic tickets as well as paper tickets/will call from the box office. There is a bag check but I'm not sure about the leniency of the bag size policy. There is a courtyard with tables and chairs, but I don't know if you can bring outside food through the gate (definitely not inside the theater). There is a subscriber's lounge for seasonholders before/after the show. Concessions are available, one line forms outside for the window to order near the main entrance, and in the hallway at the other end is another stand if you're feeling like popcorn, soda, Gunther's ice cream, water, etc. @sacmusicals also usually has a backdrop/step-and-repeat photo opportunity with props which is available before, during intermission, and after the show. The snaking queue for the ladies' room may seem like a lost cause, but the tag team of bathroom attendants at the restroom near the main entrance are on top of it to keep everything moving! No less than three staff were directing patrons to open stalls and further led them to an exit door out to the courtyard so it didn't create two-way traffic jams. Props to them, this is not a minor thing! Very efficient, especially with only a 20-minute intermission. Dress code is lax, but if you're dressed for the triple-digit summer weather outside, know that inside they do keep it pretty chilly. Parking at the Memorial Garage is super convenient, reserve in advance to save at least $5. The 2025 season had: Footloose, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Million Dollar Quartet, Hello, Dolly!, West Side Story, In the Heights so far. The remaining shows are Hair and White Christmas.

We arrived a little after 6 pm and got popcorn with butter, a drink, and candy. Prices seem very reasonable, especially given the $2 movie ticket! It's so cool to have a place like this in Sacramento. All staff were friendly and welcoming and seemed like they enjoyed working there. Around starting time, Daniel came onto the stage to engage with the audience and promote future movie events. The movie-going experience itself was great as it was an enthusiastic crowd that sang along with the songs and some folks even came dressed up in character (um, donkey head mask, anyone?). My husband, a former bartender, grabbed a drink from the bar and said it was strong and well-made. It was our first time at this theater, but it certainly won't be our last.

This is a historic movie theater so don't expect modern movie theater standards! The inside is absolutely beautiful though and I love admiring the interior everytime I'm inside. The theater is pretty intimate so any seat is still a good seat. Staff is always friendly and you can tell they genuinely enjoy their jobs. The manager was even kind enough to allow my friends to take their graduation pictures here before. For the $2 movie day, I saw Perfect Blue and was pleasantly surprised that staff said it was a full house! It seems like they have been trying to get more various showings of anime/animation in general and asked the audience for input and feedback. Overall, I'm glad Sacramento still has the Crest in place and I'm hoping to make it out to more movies here :)
