Start off with the parade then continue on with the party inside the festival. Well, it was a big surprise when they announced that the festival was canceled the day before it to start. 24 hours before the gates open. Stages were all set, vendor station all up and the festivities to be celebrated, all gone as permits weren't turned in on time. Well, that was a major bummer for everyone. Lots of money to be loss with vendors. Anyways, the good news was that the parade was still going to be celebrated on Sunday at its normal scheduled time. 10 am was the start time which we didn't want to show up exactly at that time as we were only a couple blocks away from the route but near the finishing line. Roads were blocked off which was expected so parking is a bitch. We arrived maybe a little half an hour after the parade had passed where we were sitting. Pretty nice spot, got some seats on the barricades and near the restroom. Everyone was out all for the same reason, to celebrate pride. Long Beach is always the beginning of pride celebration as they're the first one in May and then Pride months continue through the summer. Parade this year didn't have many floats as older years. It's still all for a good cause celebrating. The participate were great. Some smaller than others but still showing so much love and pride. A good amount of businesses and a bunch of community members. Crowd was good and very lively. Streets were all lined up with people watching. Locals who lived nearby all had their spots setup with chairs front row. Even with the festival being canceled the day before, we did hear that something else was going to happen after the parade at the nearby park. Didn't make it to that but would have like to check it out. Anyway, after years of not checking it out, it was a bummer to find out the cancellation with the festival but great that we were able to celebrate at the parade.

The provide 24/7 safety officers, they keep the streets clean, and they help create community. Activities they have planned are as various as "Coffee with a Cop," Saturday bike tours of the area, ice skating, and "Green Carpet" openings for new businesses. They really make South Park feel like a neighborhood. Their website has a wealth of information on it, too. Thank you to the hard working South Park team who keep us all informed and safe!

LIFESAVERS! I was…read morein need of a scantron and the University Bookstore closed just half an hour prior to my arrival on campus. I asked information center to see where else within the campus sold scantrons. I was directed to ASI (Associated Student Inc). To my luck they had one for me without charge! ASI is the student body Government. I have not had too many encounters with them because I am hardly on campus. From my knowledge they provide students with scantrons free of charge, just in case situations similar to mine happen and they do. They also do a raffle every Tuesday. In order to qualify, the student must wear CSUDH gear. The raffle prize is a fully paid semester, which is not bad at all! A semester can run up to $3000+. I am thankful that this place exist and they are so helpful to the students! It makes me proud to be a TORO! Once a Toro, always a Toro!

You have to be sure you call them back when they call to confirm if you are going. Last time I changed my number I forgot to give it to them. So when I went for my appt they told me they gave it away because I never called them back. They were able to give me a voucher for a haircut at a barbershop. After I got my haircut I was able to get some groceries without waiting in line. They give you a good amount of food. We even got eggs.
