When I was young, I receive care from this provider. This care included braces, as well as rubber bands. At the end of the treatment, my bite was still not corrected. Mary Burns recommended that I either have a jaw surgery or wear a specially made retainer. The Jaw surgery would not be 100% covered by insurance and it would result in eating no solids for approximately 6 months. My parents at the time did not seek the opinion of another Orthodontist, instead, they believed Mary Burns at her word. They opted for the handcrafted retainer. This hand-crafted specially made retainer was priced at over 2,000$. I do believe Mary Burns to be very cunning to offer this option because once you buy this retainer, you will be stuck/indebted to her. If this retainer breaks, the only way you can get another one is by going to her. The alternative would be to enter re-treatment and receiving the initial price tag of going through braces and whatnot all over again. In other words, you either pay up to $7,000 for braces all over again or pay $2,000 to Mary Burns when your retainer breaks or wears down. Most Orthodontists will not make the handcrafted specially made retainer because they see it as the chance to put braces back on you. It's also just for liability reasons given that they can't just make a retainer because another Orthodontist did. There was a 3rd option that Mary Burns did not offer, which was continuing treatment.

I filled out the simple paperwork and was admitted by 2:55PM. They immediately took impressions for the new retainer (watermelon flavored - not the old gross putty I'm used to) and told me it would be READY in thirty minutes. I ran a couple of errands and came back to pick it up on thirty minutes. They were so incredibly friendly, both the staff and Dr. Burns. Best of all, the visit, including impressions, a new retainer, and a box for it, cost a whopping total of $80. This orthodontist is great and I would highly recommend her to anyone in the area.

She was able to sit with me and educate me on exactly how the device worked and how it's going to benefit my sleep habits. Er said teeth were intact but see your dentist. My dentist couldn't examine the teeth because of my swelling but X-ray looked good. A week later I had awful pain and my 2 front teeth were discolored and cracked at the gum line. I was crushed. My teeth were beautiful and part of my identity. My dentist referred me to a root canal specialist and just the root canals were going to exhaust my insurance and I need crowns. I found Dr. Yefim on a search and God definitely was looking out for me. 2 painless root canals and antibiotics. A week later prep for the crowns with a temporary inserted. 2 weeks later 2 crowns put in. My teeth have never looked more beautiful. Polished to perfection and color match was on point. The only problem was with the top dentures. I start bringing my tongue up and "chomp" because of the metallic stuff on the dentures. It just felt funny and when I a fellow associate of DR. A she just said it's something to get used to! Why? I know some dentures can be made with a clear coating. She said because of my poor bone structure in my mouth that wasn't feasible?? Like I said I speak and comprehend English better than most but at times the communication was not what it should be. I saw an interaction where one of the doctors legitimately ignored their own staff member. I didn't think too much of it, because I don't know the culture there. So I did some asking around since I know some folks that have worked there in the past. Apparently turnover is incredibly high, as at least 5 people have resigned in the past 6 months. There isn't much communication as an entire team, which is obviously a problem with such a small office. Doctors are passive-aggressive to the employees they don't like. They use ableist language and get weirdly upset when people take sick days. Also, there have been microaggressions against Black and Brown staff members. I know 3 people who have worked under these doctors, and it sounds like they do great work, however I'll NEVER support an office that treats their staff so terribly.
