I felt comfortable and in good hands. But then came the actual MRI... I'm disabled, short, and suffering with back pain. I was having a difficult time getting onto the table, but the tech never offered me any assistance. I asked him if he had a pillow to put under my legs and he did. He helped me with that. I was handed a pair of foam ear plugs. That was new to me because at my prior MRIs I was given headsets and asked what type of music I liked. It doesn't hide the noise, but it helps a lot. I was put into the machine and just couldn't believe how noisy it was! I've never experienced anything like it. It didn't take long before I had a pounding headache. Between the noise and my back pain it was a horrible 30 minutes. I had a lot of anxiety.... which I've never experience during prior MRIs. It was finally over, and I felt the table moving out of the machine. I was hurting, and a little disoriented. Before I was completely out the tech quickly pulled the pillow out from under my knees. That was not pleasant. He could have given me a minute to compose myself. I was having a difficult time trying to sit up and he never offered me any help. I couldn't believe it. I managed to find my way back to the dressing room and get my clothes on.... still in disbelief over that horrible experience. I did mention it to one of the lady's up front. She told me the machines were 30 years old, and that the techs will never help the patients! Up until this appointment I feel that I've received very good medical care here in PA. The only reason I gave this place 3 stars was because of the convenience of the location to my home, the awesome front office staff, and it's much cheaper than having tests done at the hospital.

The people up front are ridiculously rude and seem to go out of their way to make you feel stupid…read morefor not knowing certain things. I called to schedule my annual appointment for July. While on the phone, I asked if there was any…read moreway that I, a 33-year-old woman, could gain more insight into my currently fertility status so that I would know whether my boyfriend and I should start to think about having children sooner rather than later. The receptionist put me on the phone with the nurse practitioner, who said that they could do bloodwork to determine that sort of thing. I made an appointment for May to come in and get blood work done. I came to my appointment in May, checked in, had my weight and blood pressure taken (which I assumed was being done before bloodwork), and then spoke to the nurse/doctor (not sure what her status was). This person then told me that they do not do bloodwork there, and that they do not even do any kind of fertility testing unless you are 35-years-old or older and have been trying to get pregnant for about 5 months. I explained that if I had known that, I would not have made the appointment, especially since my annual appointment is coming up anyway. Our entire conversation only lasted a few minutes (I think that the only other question she asked me was if my cycle was normal). On my way out, I explained to the receptionist that there had been a misunderstanding, and that I would not have made the appointment if I had known that they would NOT be taking bloodwork. I said that I did not think I should be charged for this appointment. The receptionist said that someone would follow up with me. Someone reached out to follow up with me, and I explained the situation. They said that the appointment would still be billed as a consult. I strongly disagreed with this decision, as again, I would not have even made the appointment if I had known they would not be doing the bloodwork that I was told would be done. The person on the phone refused to not bill me, since my vitals were taken during the appointment and a brief conversation - a "consult" - occurred during the appointment as well. She also said that if I had gone to my annual and asked any questions relating to my fertility, that would have been billed as an additional consult rather than just my annual exam. This sounds absurd - I'm not supposed to ask any questions relating to my reproductive health/status during my annual, other than questions relating to what they are doing in that exact moment? I feel like this would be the equivalent of going to the dentist for a teeth cleaning, and not being allowed to mention tooth sensitivity without being billed for two appointments. I am extremely disappointed in the miscommunication that occurred on Athena's end and their refusal to rectify the situation. I am now going to be charged over $100 for an appointment that consisted of taking my weight and blood pressure and informing me that they would NOT be taking the bloodwork which was the sole reason I had scheduled the appointment in the first place. I took off some time from work to make this appointment, and the whole situation is extremely frustrating. It's clear that Athena cares more about making money than their patient's wellbeing. I am hoping to find a different doctor, as I no longer trust that they prioritize patient care. My co-workers, who have the same insurance as me, have had similar frustrating experiences. We are all looking for a new doctor who accepts Aetna insurance. I hope this post can save someone else the headache that I went through.

I have the hospital app on my phone, so I checked in prior to going into the building , by doing that you receive a barcode that you can scan at the kiosk to let them Know your there for your appointment, which is much easier then filling everything out on the kiosk. I had to have some CT scan images of a couple areas Of my body, I was called in by technician Angela, who was so kind and caring. Medical facilities need more workers that care about the patients these days. Thank you Angela for making me feel comfortable during a scary time.

BAIT and SWITCH Called MRI place in my network, they talked…read moreme into going to their 'nicer one in EB'. Over the phone gave me an up-front total price of $350 for the service I needed, because "using your insurance - the deductible would be so much higher'. Asked twice if that was the full price. Day of, they showed up 20 minutes late, took my payment, asked for ID and insurance. Assured me that they weren't billing the insurance, just needed it for records. Guess what I received a week later - a denial of claim as out of network and a bill for $2200+. They ran my insurance and now expect me to pay them over $2200. Don't fall for the "it's one price and so much cheaper than your deductible' scam. On top of that the report sent to my Dr said that I had no gallbladder. I most certainly do. So their results are as questionable as their manner of doing business.
