I ordered 7 meters of mulch from Cowboy Topsoil for delivery. We did our own install job. When my daughter got sick I called and they rescheduled the delivery for the following week. The driver was able to back up the mulch in our incline driveway diagonally onto a tarp without getting our driveway a mess. He was super courteous and respectful- just like Eva who was super amazing on the phone. Though I had purchased the mulch, there was fertilizer in there which I really appreciated for my plants and soil. It smelled for a couple of days but it's all natural fertilizer and the smell fades after a week. Great service and product! read more

Mulch purchased on 7/18/23 infested with spiders. A lot of them. I called to speak with manager Anthony he was very condescending. Told me that I probably had a infestation in the ground which was a lie because old mulch was removed from yard two days prior and there were no spiders. Every flower bed and tree bed had a lot of spiders running around in mulch. I had to have yard treated immediately due to purchasing bad mulch. Horrible experience. read more

I'm a homeowner who has been dealing with Cowboy Trucking (infrequently, BUT ALWAYS COWBOY) for our lawn and garden needs. My experiences with them, their products and their delivery people have always been "best of breed". BUT this time (ordering grass and dirt) I hit a slight snag in pricing. I asked to speak with management to get it worked out and spoke with Anthony. He could NOT have been more understanding or cooperative and truly worked at resolving the issue to my full satisfaction. So when I read a few of the reviews that suggest he acted otherwise, I have to wonder if those customers didn't give Anthony a chance to mutually problem solve, which he does masterfully if allowed. KUDOS to Cowboy AND ANTHONY - They not only know their business, how to properly serve their customers, but how to SUCCESSFULLY DEAL with the inevitable "bumps" of just having a business and customers. Awesome company. I was hesitant about ordering two products in one truck. It went beautifully. The rainbow mix gravel dumped first then the mulch. The driver was careful and precise to minimize mixing of the two. By the way, they have the best rainbow mix gravel and the driver was on schedule. Extremely bad customer service! Apparently prices change by the hr there. I went early in the morning to buy bank sand and was given one price then went later that same day to by the same amount of bank sand and got a price that was $10 more per yard. To top it off when I asked "THE OWNER" about the situation he went ahead and said that the second price was right and that he was going to charge me the extra $10 per yard to make up for the load from the morning. read more

I usually mulch once a year and have priced the mulch from a number of places and have found that Cowboy is consistently the fairest priced. Some of the places i've contacted don't know their mulch from dog excrement, but Cowboy's operators are friendly and knowledgeable. Every driver i've had (most recently, Wes...he was outstanding) has been excellent as well. They call to confirm when they are ready to leave the yard and arrive on time. Well, I've figured out that these guys are one of the best places to buy sod in Houston as they have good prices and they offer free delivery if you buy a certain amount. I've also purchased limestone gravel and some of their "yard mix" which is a mixture of sand, dirt, and organic material to help get a lawn started and everything has been really good quality. My previous review below explains my first purchase from them which I wasn't happy with at all, but my recent purchases were much much better and I'm actually pretty happy with them now. I would still check any product in the dump truck before they dump it on your property as it's a lot easier then picking up something that isn't what you thought it was. They were friendly and professional and this time, I got good product from them. Their crushed concrete that I ordered a couple years ago was trash, but maybe I just got the leftovers at the end of the pile. I ordered 10 yards of crushed concrete from them for the house Im building. I wanted to spread it around the front of the lot so the people delivering my lumber would have something solid to drive their forklifts on and so that my lumber wasn't sitting in the dirt. I made a mistake not checking the material before allowing the dump truck driver to dump it on my yard. The crushed concrete I've seen is like plum to baseball size pieces of solid concrete. What they sold me was about 2/3 dust and 1/3 some kind of rock and did NOT perform well. The first time it rained, it mixed right in with the dirt that was there and made a mess. I wasted a little over $400 on material that was pretty much garbage. I needed more rock since what they sold me was a joke, and I found a place out in Katy called Katy Stone and Gravel that sells limestone gravel for $55 a yard versus the roughly $33 I was charged by Cowboy Topsoil for their "crushed concrete". For my money though, I got a product that was actually a good value and usable. I'll steer clear of Cowboy Topsoil in the future. If you do business with them MAKE SURE you look at the material carefully before they drop it on your property. I should have sent what they brought me back to the yard. read more

Despite delivering small half-yard loads to my truck plus the many landscape contractors buying from them, I NEVER have to wait to be loaded. They have a great staff giving prompt friendly service inside and they have efficient operators of front-end loaders outside. And their prices are very fair. I have used them numerous times for delivery of stone and topsoil, as well as purchase of pallets of sod. My contractors recommended them and use them. I used to use Yale stone but Cowboy's prices are better and delivery cheaper. I was really impressed that at a time of high demand, they held my sod until 4 pm on a Saturday based only on a phone reservation (no payment)....others wanted the pallet and yet the held it for me, knowing they were risking it "going bad" by Monday if I did not pick it up or pay for it.
