Stoped in there tonight for super. Was greeted by an extremely pleasant lady and was seated promptly. I was waited on by Kandy who was extremely attentive and polite. I ordered the 12 New York strip dinner with a sides being cottage cheese and French fries. When I got my ordered I was amazed how much food I got!!!! We went for dinner in the front then went out back for ice tea. While we were out back there was no cover but after time they started & then the female door person walked up to me & wanted to charge me a cover. That's not how it works as a my family owned a restaurant & bowling alley. Rude & Disrespectful that's not the Southern way & no Cowboy would condone that even though they use the Cowboys image. They said no minors and i'm 19 years old!! We drove 30min for new year's eve and they told us anyone under 21 was not allowed in no exceptions...they didn't have anything on their website to say that. very disappointed and ruined my new year's eve. read more

Cowboy up needs an update with their music selection. There are no new songs that are being played. I was expecting to hear some songs that are currently on the radio that have line dances too. The past couple of times I've been there is not a big coward. I feel like it may be due to the music and the music is not very loud either, so it sounds dead. I had to request multiple times for the Dj to play a Morgan Wallen song. There is a diverse age group with some early 20s, 30s, 50+ and the music is mostly for targeted towards the older generation which I understand line dances vary with song generation, but there is no current songs for the younger generation to dance to causing the dance floor to be empty. read more

By its name you can guess that this is some sort of Western-esque bar. And you would be right. It is just that. While I am not a real big fan of the texas style bar seen, I will try to remain objective for the purpose of this review. There is definitely a cowboy vibe you get when you walk in. The bull horns is probably what gives it away. There is ample seating even when it is busy and there is a well stocked full bar. Brewsters is the resturaunt and they serve their full menu. I must absolutely recommend the barbeque chicken fritters with ranch. Don't waste your time on any other bar food. They are delicious and I could down about two orders of those myself. Now when it comes to line dancing all I can say is that I don't own any cowboy boots but my friends and family do and they love to line dance here. If you come early, there is someone that gives lessons so you can learn some new ones. Its really fun to people watch the line dances. There are some that are REALLY cool! I try to stay out of everyones way but no one minds if you try catching on in a corner of the floor. read more

We live 2 miles from this place, they have good food. However, the customer service is terrible!!! My son plays football for Mendon, that had a victory over their rival CENTREVILLE....so of course we want to celebrate at our local restaurant. they state their hours are open until 9:00pm they refused to serve us because they close in 10 minutes. Mind you we called before coming to ask the hours, and were told we could try to come in and try to get food. The OWNER was "triggered" by paying customers coming in. We have came here for 2 years and spend $60-$80 a week! I will NEVER BE BACK!! In fact we were referred(by the owner) to Gibby's Gibby's Bar & Grill looks like we have a new regular spot! If I could rate lower than one star, I absolutely would. The security is awful and the guy who claimed to be the owner kicked us out for my friend spitting in an empty cup, and then put his hand on and talk very disrespectfully to my friend. The cup was completely empty. We all had to leave because we drove an hour to come here as we all heard how much fun that it was, this experience was seriously just awful. An owner of any company should not ever be allowed to act like that as his company serves people every single day. Very disappointing. read more

Went for the first time last night. The restaurant is a little bit of a weird layout, the wait staff is friendly, but the service is haphazard and not real organized. It was busy, but it looked like a lot of new staff training going on as well. The smoked brisket was good, very big portions as well. My wife had the flank steak and thought it was good as well. Oberon on draft, so that was nice as well. Basically, pretty good food and BBQ. Now, the dance area outback was awesome... Great layout, you have plenty of areas to sit and watch the live bands. I came here back on 8/10/13 for my 10 year HS reunion. We had our reunion here in Mendon even though I went to Three Rivers. The place was not bad. Food was good. Country music is not my type of music but overall the place was ok. read more

Being from a larger city I thought we have it all, I was wrong. I have yet to find a place as all around fun as Cowboy Up. I knew it was not in your average place when I noticed the disco Cow Skull over the line dancing teacher saying how good her students were doing because they had "the steps and the claps down". We came for dinner and stayed for the great music, Steve Armstrong and the 25 cent beer band were fantastic. Most bands are either fun or musicians, they are both. Everyone by now knows I have a food allergy, and gauge a waitress on her willingness to help me not get sick. Tonja ran in the back, found out what I could eat, and was back with my husband's pitcher of beer in a minute. She was laid back, friendly, helpful, and above all quick. There is nothing worse than the disappearing waitress, now you see her, 20 minutes later now you STILL don't. We ordered the combination platter that they say feeds 6-7. I guess cowboys must eat a WHOLE lot more than us mere mortals. The food arrived in the arms of a burly cowboy because it was an entire sheet tray. Not just the half tray you bake cookies in the on, think twice that size. We had an entire slab of ribs, a 6x9 hunk of brisket, 2 chicken breasts, what looked like a half of an entire turkey breast, enough pulled pork for 4 sandwiches, an entire frier full of french fries, a soup bowl of baked bend, another of coleslaw, and what looked like half a sheet tray of corn bread. The taste was amazing. Due to the low and slow but not smoked method of cooking everything was juicy and seasoned just right. How many places can make a brisket have enough flavor to taste like an expensive steak. The BBQ sauces were straight forward and old fashion. Just what great food needs just a hint to complement, not something fancy and pretentious to drown bad food in. The price was remarkably reasonable coinciding we were stuffed to our gills and took home 3 large carry out containers. I'm now working on a girls weekend just to have a field trip to Cowboy Up! read more

Neat little Barbecue place. The barbecue is pretty authentic and I like that you could add your own sauce to whatever meat you choose. The wait staff was very friendly, but a little unorganized and forgetful. The food was good and you get a lot for what you pay for. There is a dance area in the back which is unique. Not bad for a barbecue place out in the middle of nowhere with no competition. The food is okay but nothing to write home about. The salad bar is pretty good. The brisket and pulled pork is very dry but has good flavor. The restaurant is kind of dark and dingy and desperately needs an upgrade. The lighting is very poor. I was watching TV at the bar and the cook comes around and changes the station without asking whether I minded or not! RUDE! The service was mediocre and the waitresses seemed more interested in talking among themselves than getting the food out. Went here on a Saturday night and was amazed by the atmosphere, size of the bar and how many people were there having a great time!!! The band was awesome and the staff was efficient!!! The line dancing was fun to watch and people were just generally having fun!! There was a bonfire going on outside and dancing and partying inside... a country-music lovers dream place to go!!! Can't wait to go back. They teach line dancing during the week - and looking forward to going again soon! Recommend to anyone who likes country music!!! read more

First off i will say that I traveled an hour and a half and met another friend who traveled an hour to go to this country bar...I may have given 2 stars but after I re-thought the nights events I don't believe it's worth it. Here's why: #1) SLOW bartender(s) and ONE RUDE BARTENDER (dark brown hair/older lady). I asked her nicely how she made a certain drink and she replied back a very snotty answer like I was stupid...thx lady! When we 1st walked in (about 9:30pm) there were only 3 people in front of me and it took about 8 min's to be served, they do not show much enthusiasasm to get drink orders filled! This was my SAME experience the 1st and only other time i've had at this bar (not good 2/2 times) #2) Bathroom stalls were GROSS. Because, they're were FOUR paper towel holders and ALL were empty! So I wiped my wet hands on my jeans. Also, my friend came out of bathroom and said "good luck, no toilet paper"..nice. Also, trash in women's bathroom was overfilled with used paper towels (25% of them laying on floor). This proves they are UNDER STAFFED. #3) I go to country bars to line dance and their DJ music was sub-par in my opinion (not much top 40). The band was also not great for dancing..lead singer was a lady and don't get me wrong, her voice was excellent but the dance floor was sparse due to the selection of odd songs. END NOTE: I believe every negative experience can have some positives if u look around..so here they are: I will give the bar are a compliment on their atmosphere, the place has an awesome, big dance floor! Their decor is very inviting for the country enthusiast. The older gentleman behind the bar was very courteous also when I cashed out. I feel he was trying his best to be friendly, fast, and acomadating (BUT, he was the only one). And I did order 1 mixed drink and it was made almost too strong which is good for some :) LAST THOUGHTS, in my opinion this place is a family owned business (trying to "save" $$) that caters to 18&up crowd and does not hire the extra workers that are needed to accommodate the bigger crowds they tend to get. I'm NOT 18 and have been to many country bars that cater to you as fast as possible and have the extra staff needed to give a satisfactory or better memory. Bathrooms are checked FREQUENTLY to avoid a bad impression! And if I were a bar owner and my dance floor is empty I'm going to change the music..just my thoughts. Do not be cheap and hire extra, and EFFICIENT workers to have a lasting impression. read more
