Last week I received a disaster dye job from my regular hairdresser in my hometown. Unfortunately, I did not have time to get it corrected before I had to fly to Waterloo to help my daughter get moved into her new apartment before she starts her third year of university. I randomly selected Grace at Cowboys and Angels to get a corrective hair dye treatment. I was worried that she wouldn't be able to fix my hair - well, not only did she fix it, she made it look better than it has looked in years!!! Thank you, Grace!!! I switched to this salon after my old hair stylist moved away, and was nervous about having someone new take care of my hair. I've been going to see Sam for about a year now, and she's fantastic. I've had trims, chopped all my hair off, and gotten an awesome updo for a formal occasion, and was really happy with everything! One of the biggest things I noticed is that I'm usually really bad at small talk and feel awkward sitting in the chair, but Sam is always really easy to talk to. I also like the vibe of the salon - everyone is really friendly, I'm always offered tea while I'm waiting, and there are cute chihuahuas running around. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a quality haircut in uptown. read more

My stylist was very engaging, and the whole place was full of intriguing conversations :) Fairly surprised to see this lovely salon in boring old Waterloo. Alana Woods was very good. She spent a good deal of time with the custom colouring of my hair and listened closely to the style that I wanted. Andrea was great. I've found it difficult in the past to find a stylist who thinned my thick-but-fine hair shoulder-length hair perfectly, but she did a great job during my first visit to her. When my hair was long I always trimmed it myself, but when I decided to go for a drastic cut I realized I'd need to find a proper stylist. I'd heard good things about Cowboys & Angels, and I wasn't disappointed! I've had three different stylists cut my hair there, and all of them were very open to hearing what I wanted and they all tried to give me the exact cut I was hoping for. I had an excellent experience at this salon with both the people, the hair cut and the price. The staff there are extremely friendly and the atmosphere is very laid-back. I felt you could carry a much more relaxed and casual conversation with the staff or other customers (many times salons I've been to feet a bit pretentious). At Cowboys and Angels, you get cool people and cute little dogs, just hangin' out. When I came in, I asked for the first appointment possible with whichever hair dresser, and I needed to get my already-shortish hair re-cut. (Normally I would ask for someone who knows short hair well, but I needed the cut quick). When I got in, I asked my assigned hair dresser if she had any ideas (since I wanted a new style, but didn't know what would look good) and although short hair wasn't her specialty, the owner of the place (Cindy) definitely had some great ideas and loved doing short hair, and she was more than happy to share. As a result I left with an amazing hair cut that was sophisticated, but really cool and edgy, which is exactly the kind of thing I'd hoped to get when I saw the name and bad-ass theme of the salon. At the same time, the price was SO much cheaper than every other place in Waterloo and Kitchener which I had been to so far (except for Voila and top-cuts). It was only about $30 (and I believe that was after tip - and I'm a generous tipper). Overall, I would highly recommend this place, particularly for it's lack of pretension,, great people, great price, and really great hair-cutting skills. My experience at Cowboys & Angels was a 10/10! The atmosphere is incredibly friendly and welcoming, and I immediately felt at-home. I usually don't tend to be much of a talker when I go to salons, but I felt very comfortable and had a blast chatting it up with Dunja - she took extremely good care of my hair and I'm absolutely in love with my new hairstyle. Both my husband and I get our haircuts from here with Rebecca Lamb. We love the atmosphere in here. Whenever we come for our appointments, the place is always busy and bustling with activities. Everyone is friendly and got their own style and personality. And the place also feels homey - in winter times, you get to slip off your clunky boots and get into the slippers and sit with a hot cup of coffee/tea they offer for you. read more

I went for a colour and a trim. The haircut was good, but the colouring is sad. After 10 days, my dark brown colour was disappearing. Paid $129 for a colour and cut...and disappointed. So, go for a cut if you want, but I don't recommend colouring. read more

A terrible experience overall. I read reviews here and thought it would be a great place to get a hair cut. Hell, I was wrong. It was extremely noisy all the time, and I got a headache from that (similar to a trip to a dentist). The hair stylist and I couldn't hear each other because of the noises. She cut my hair for only about 2 minutes. It felt fast and unprofessional. It was wayyy overpriced. I will never go back again. Do not recommend. read more
