Been there twice, got worse on 2nd visit. I'm early for my appointments & always had to wait 20+ mins past my appointment time because the owner is talking to girl clients catching up. When washing my hair, they give a new girl who thrashed my head around like a noogie, not comfortable. Also they got water everywhere soaking my clothes. Then the owner moves super fast because she's behind & I get a super fast 15 minute haircut with so many flaws. A terrible faid, terrible neckline shave. Amazing balayage! I am so impressed with Lisa work!! With dark, thick Asian hair, it has been impossible for me to go lighter blond without looking orange and brassy. For years, I didn't think it was possible for my hair to achieve a natural looking blond colour. After a terrible colouring job elsewhere, I went to Lisa to help correct it. She did a phenomenal job fixing the horrible blending the job that was done at the other location. She lightened my hair so that the blond came out beautifully. Just a little bit before Christmas, I contacted xcentric hair salon for a consultation appointment with Wendy for an ombre. I chose her based on her work profile from the salon's Instagram. Price with tax ~$190. I was prepared to spend max $200 so I was okay with it. She suggested a cut to go with it for an extra $30. Since I was spending a lot of money anyway, I just went for it since I wanted to walk out looking perfect just in time for the holiday season. I've done my research online where some ombre appointment can last up to 6 h but the slot I got was for 2.5 h. I asked her if it would be done for sure and she said yes. She ended up spending a total of 3 h total. Although the color I walked out with isn't exactly what I asked for from the photo, I was really satisfied since the coloring job was fabulous. Here's where the problem comes in. She was done the coloring process with maybe 20 minutes before her next appointment. I knew she was rushing with my cut. I spent $30 for maybe 5 minutes of her time for just a slight trim at the back where I couldn't even see. I did tell her to try to keep my length in her defense. It was a very rushed job to the point some may even say sloppy. All is well and I was told to wash my hair less often since I had to bleach my hair from dyed brown to blonde. After I went home, I noticed a dry patch at the back of my head which I know wasn't there before. I ignored it and assume it was just hair spray. After I finally wash my hair 3 days after the appointment, I noticed a REALLY dry, fried, crisped up section of hair at the back. I spent a week trying to tend it back to good health again. It didn't help. I sent in an email expressing my dissatisfaction about the dry chunk of hair from coloring job and why my stylist did not ask me if I wanted it cut or at least let me know that it occurred from the coloring process. It's been 2 weeks since then and have not received a call or an email stating they acknowledged my problem or an apology of any sort at all. Disappointing haircut and after service. I went here for a bold new cut and colour. I have tried various hair salons in the area and never really been happy. I have found most stylists in the area want you to tell them exactly whatyou want and don't seem to have any thoughts of their own. I prefer to go to a stylist who knows what they are doing and can point me in the best direction for ME. I loved Courtney, she was knowledgeable, she listened to me but gave her own ideas as well. I ended up with the best cut and colour I have had in years. The whole salon is that perfect mix of fun and professional, I got the feeling no matter who I went to I would have had a great experience. I can't wait to go back! Lisa the owner is amazing, super fast and great at what she does. The salon is busy but not overbearing, gorgeous inside and has a great location. They post a lot of pictures of their work on Instagram, so it's great to see their capabilities. I started out being pretty happy for the price and the convenience of email reservations. But after i became a repeat customer I feel like things went a bit downhill. I'd make appointments and Courtney would be routinely running behind so I'd have to wait up to half an hour in addition to the cut in the middle of the work day. I understand sometimes stuff comes up but perhaps space out the clients a bit if there is not enough time! The haircuts also wouldn't last very long and she insisted on straightening my hair every time which was fun once but is not really my style. read more
