Dr. Kristoffer Bylow & Dr. Christine Gosch are truly amazing. I hope to recover to be there for my lifelong disabled child. Everything you do to help to get me well means more than words can say. We just want our life back. We love my home state of Missouri and hometown , that's why we left our other home in New England to come back here. Inevitably my health took a turn for the worst, but you always look out for me. I will never forget your kindness, and I appreciate all that you do. wish zero stars was an option. i was here for 7 hrs, left and had to come back when i got back it was 130am and this family they had been here since 8pm their baby had a fever of 103. Inwatched that father beg for medicine and they treated him so poorly and never once came out and dosed that poor baby. This was disgusting they treated him as he was the issue. 8pm when they arrived and 130am came back and not 1 nurse had come out for any reason. not even my child i went and asked them you know how dangerous it is for a baby to have a fever that high this other nurse popped off with nobody here has a fever that high which i saw for myself the fact they never came out once to check? that poor family took the chance to drive to springfield bcuz of how poorly they were treated. I went into Urgent Care in Branson with some chest pains. I had had a heart attack 2 years prior so I knew what to look out for. That stent surgery went beautifully without complications & I was out of the hospital in 1 day. So with chest pains Urgent Care sends me to Cox ER. The next thing I knew its 5 days later, they had torn my heart with a metal stent, had to induce me into a coma so they could drain the blood & fluid from my heart, then placed me on life support which I only came out of by the grace of God, I had sepsis then developed pneumonia. I checked myself out & thank God went to Mercy in Springfield where they saved my life. I have since had to be hospitalized twice. Once with acute hypoxic respiratory failure & the other pericarditis. It's been 2 months & I am still battling to stay alive. The amount of careless unprofessionalism in that medical staff is unbelievable. If you want to live don't go to this hospital. I wouldn't take a dog i didnt like to that hospital. Oh & to top it off they told all of my friends & family that all these complications were due to my lifestyle. What in the world does that even mean? I went to Cox ER with terribly high blood pressure. The ER doctor determined that I was having a reaction to a prescription drug, and a detox would be necessary to reduce my pressure. I have an ascending aortic aneurysm that makes the high blood pressure dangerous for me. Both the ER doctor and the doctor that suggested I go to the ER both talked with the hospital administrator to get me in for a medically monitored detox. The hospital administrator refused to allow me treatment. This has forced me to a private facility for at least 10 days at a cost of 1,000 per day. If Cox had admitted me my insurance would have covered. So I have a life-threatening condition, acknowledged by 2 Cox doctors, and the hospital administrator denied me likely life-saving care. I've told my relatives that if I die from this, sue them for everything . read more

Charged $40,000 for appendectomy. Delayed scheduled surgery by 10 hours. Caused my appendix to perforate. Insurance pays for $34,000. Agree to payment plan with hospital. After never missing a payment, they decide to stop drafting my payment and send it to collections putting a hit on my credit. Try to talk with financial services to go back to hospital payment plan THEY STOPPED DRAFTING. No recourse, have to deal with debt collector and hit to my credit. Every instance I have ever had with this hospital has been charging 2 to 4 times the average nationwide price. The pricing system of this hospital is out of control. In 2023 I went to the er after trying to have a home birth. Nurses walked out verbally calling me irresponsible. They demanded a drug test and when I couldn't because I was in active labor they forced me to have a catheter so they could drug test me. I ended up having an emergency c section and we refused unnecessary medical procedures and interventions and the nurses called DFS accusing my husband and I of exploiting and attempting to traffic our daughter. After DFS barged into our hospital room they kidnapped our daughter from the hospital they discharged me and made me walk out of the hospital with no assistance and wouldn't speak to me or my husband or let us use a wheelchair. They refused me my medical records initially and then lied in doctors notes accusing me of being on drugs even though my records stated my tests were all clean. Stay away. Stay far far away. Not an attorney would touch the case so Yelp is the best I can get. The nursing staff in OB is HORRIBLE. Faith was the worst 2 faced nurse possible. Acted like a caring woman but wouldn't even look at me after and she was pregnant too. Got her back 4 days later with an apology from the DFS workers boss because she admitted to lying to steal our daughter. Cox should lose their licenses read more

My experience with cox medical is with their accounting depth. I was making payments without fail. They wanted me to pay more. I'm retired and on a very tight budget so It would hurt to pay more. They said if I didn't I would be turned over to collections and they did turn me over. After arguing with them I borrowed a little over 2 hundred dollars and paid the collection company off. In a couple of months I get more bills. This after they said I was free of bills after the pay off. These new bills went straight to the collection company. I paid these off after no explanation from cox. About another 2 months and guess what. I get more bills and they also went straight to collections. I need to say that all the bills they sent after the pay off had dates older than the original ​bills. At one time I ask them to send me copies of these bills because it looked like I could be paying some twice. Instead of copies of the bills I received a copy of all the medications they billed me for. This went on for months and I finally just gave up. You got buy with this one but you will never see me near your hospital again. read more

Had a bad experience. My son just had his Tonsils out a week earlier and coughed a small amount of blood up. Went to the ER while on vacation to the Branson area. Doctor in the ER was determined to have us relocated to a different hospital. Spent several hours under observation until after him calling more than 5 ENT staffs they relented. The Nurse arrived to our room 45 minutes after we saw the doctor and had no idea of the treatment plan the doctor had already decided on. This led to our son cycling through his medication and when she got some additional meds she mis-dosed him even after we questioned the amount she provided. Spent another hour waiting for the medical team to arrive to transport him to Springfield. Arrived to Mercy Children's in Springfield at 5am which was 5 hours after we arrived to Cox for medical care. Everyone we met at Mercy was confused as to why we were there when our son coughed up a small amount of blood at 1130pm without any other occurrences. We will not be back to Cox read more

The care I received by the surgeon, doctors and nurses for my knee replacement at Cox Orthopedics seemed very satisfactory to me, a person who previously only had experience with routine, maintenance healthcare. But when I tried to get information on expenses not covered by my insurance and to verify that services covered by my insurance were in my HMO network, this was extraordinarily difficult, every person I asked seemed to refer me to someone else. My surgeon said I had to stay in a skilled nursing facility following surgery, he said I would be told the name of the nursing home the day of the surgery, this was very inconvenient, as I want to be sure the SNF is in my network plus my insurance requires advanced approval for the stay and this takes 14 days. I headed into surgery without a clue as to whether my time in the nursing home would be a $22 a day copay or $300-$400 a day. The only person I was able to get information about the nursing home and insurance matters was the social worker, who then had to go on a leave of absence 12 days before my surgery and her replacement would be unavailable until the actual day of my surgery , this left me unable to obtain further information or updates. It is also difficult to change appointment times or get needed information as most of the time when I call Cox Orthopedics I get a recorded message that no one is available to answer the phone.    Follow up: I found out three days before the scheduled date of my surgery that it was not approved by Medicare, Cox Orthopedics had almost two months to file the paper work which takes 14 days to process but they delayed filing the paper work until shortly before my surgery , their delay caused  me much expense, time and travel. I had to go to numerous appointments for doctor visitis, tests and instructions.  All my time traveling , waiting and filling out paper work was a total waste. I had assumed the first thing Cox did was get approval from Medicare, I never would have thought Cox would have me jump through all these hoops before getting approval from Medicare, Cox seem to place little value on my time or money. read more

After having spent 4 hours at Mercy Urgent who halfway helped us then sent us over to the hospital, we thought Cox did an amazing job.

My husband ended up in the CCU for 13 days and on a ventilator for 7 of those. The entire staff at Cox was unbeatable. I was worried I might need to move him to a bigger facility in KC but there was never a need. The doctors were very competent and the nursing staff saved his life at one point. I felt cared for from everyone from the nursing staff to the cleaning crew. I can not say enough about the quality of care received. I would recommend this faculty very highly. read more

I have had a lot of medical problems in my life and at age 57, I can say I have been in a lot of ERs. I had a major illness that sent me to Urgent Care in Cox of Branson and the care I received was absolutely fine, however, I had to be moved to the ER department for more extensive testing and that's where I became completely persona non grata. The person posing as a doctor, because he wasn't wearing any kind of badging I assumed he was a doctor, seemed to want to help but as it turns out, he only wanted a lab rat to use for practice. This is a dangerous ER and my advice to anyone is try to go somewhere else if you need serious medical attention. I can only be thankful that even though I was in severe pain because of my back, it wasn't life threatening or I may not have been able to share this experience. read more

Most all hospitals get bad reviews. I worked in an OR in Illinois myself for over 20 years and we got a Lotta good reviews and a lot of bad reviews. But a year ago I woke up in the middle of the night, evidently having a massive heart attack. I called 911. They were at my home promptly transported me to the hospital, and ER went to work immediately on me. Evidently I was a full code twice everyone in that hospital from ER to x-ray to lab to the cardiologists to surgery to the EMTs worked to save my life and I'm here a year later to talk about it. I hate hospitals as much as the next person but every time I've been there whether it's urgent care or ER I've gotten excellent friendly service. I was there with my mother in the ER once and she had to wait five hours to be seen but we understood they were packed full. They had no beds and they kept us updated, so sometimes life doesn't work just the way you want it to you have to be patient so far I appreciate Cox Hospital and everything they have done. read more

As a patient of CoxHealth, and CoxSouth Springfield MO and The Martin Center in particular, I have been stunned by the astounding bloated layers of management and the myriad of antiquated processes that mire CoxHealth in inefficiency across the organization. The Martin Center , part of the CoxHealth family, was one of the worst outpatient experiences that I have ever had. I was scheduled for a colonoscopy by Dr. Rajesh Hegde and was given an extensive list of requirements needed prior to the procedure which I followed explicitly. Once I arrived I discovered the list did not match the list of requirements needed by the Martin Center ! And they wouldn't do my colonoscopy! I called Dr. Hegde's office FROM The Martin Center and they TRANSFERRED my call to customer service!! And then, I got a voice mail from customer service! Finally after 6 or 7 emails from me, I got a call from a Cox administrator apologizing . No call EVER from Hegde .The best part? A letter 3 weeks later from Alanna King (Patient Advocate) who was sorry for the inconvenience caused me with two $10 (ten) Visa Gift Certificates. I almost passed out from laughing so hard. Cox and The Martin Center are about ten years behind the times when it comes to technology and transparency in patient communications. They are bloated with ineffective senior leadership and are failing to empower their patient facing employees to actually affect much needed positive change. read more

I am a 66 year old woman. I have been in many hospitals during my life and this one is by far the best. Critical care unit is top notch. The doctors are all caring and kind. No matter which department I have been in for care it has all been excellent. I also use the doctors in the outpatient clinic and have found them to also give excellent care. We were camping at Branson when I had some pretty significant Intestinal Trac issues. I was quickly and courteously evaluated and admitted (1st time in patient admission in my lifetime). I was placed on the 5th floor with the most devoted and caring nurses anyone would ever want. They attended to me extremely well and took care of every need I had. One special nurse, Lori R., actually become a proponent for me and connected me with Dr. Cameron who was also very special in seeking the cause of my issue. While all healthcare professionals there were good, Dr. Cameron and Nurse Lori are very special to me and are to be highly commended by the Director of Cox Medical Center. read more

Ive lived in Branson for 20 years and love this hospital. I have ALWAYS had a wonderful experience with especially the doctors and staff there. They diagnosed my breast cancer at an early stage and spent many months there going back for treatments. They ALL have me hope and courage to undergo all of the treatments! Loved my surgeon. Doctor Moll who made me feel at ease as I had to have two surgeries. All of the Chemo nurses were top notch to. So nice. I never had to wait more than 10 minutes to see my oncologist. I have no clue why all the negative coments on this site. This hospital saved my life. I noticed most of the people who gave them were from out of town and probably out of network. Now that might be a problem. I have many friends who use this hospital who love it too. Called cox orthopedic to reschedule an appointment talked to Emily. I guess I had the audacity to also ask a few questions that didn't sit well with Emily. I tried to explain why taking two different appointments was rough with a fifty dollar copay each time. Then I realized two appointments two Billings ohhhh. While on vacation my husband awoke in the early hours of New Years Day with chest pains. Not knowing the area I just googled "closest ER to my location" and Cox medical was only 2.9 miles. I noticed the 2.8 star review and was worried but had no choice but to trust the staff with my husbands life. I was heartbroken at the fact that their COVID restrictions only allowed me two hours of visitation. How were we going to be without each other in a town neither one of us knew anyone. I was called with updates and anytime I called to just check in they were the sweetest and most accommodating staff I've ever been affiliated with. Our vacation was Over and I had nowhere to stay, the hospital staff called and secured me a room at a discounted rate located 5 mins from the hospital. This hospital and staff turned out to be the biggest blessing for us. The staff actually cared and checked in often on him, they explained all procedures and why they were occurring and all medication given was explained. They didn't hesitate to help him even though it was a holiday. I believe the 2.8 rating is undeserved! They need a 5! The healthcare we received was better than what we would've had at our home. Incomplete care. Untrustworthy billing practices.Financial assistance is not available even if they say it is. I was on vacation and became very sick. It was the only ER nearby and so there wasn't much choice. The wait time was easily 4 hours, and they never did any bloodwork or complete testing to see what was really wrong. I ended up at an urgent treatment center a few days later because I wasn't well. A week after the ER visit I was in another state with family (because I was too sick to travel all the way home) and the practitioner there DID run bloodwork and started emergency protocols for that condition. All things that could have been done out of Branson ER but they did not do their job completely. Their website very clearly touts that they are not-for-profit health system, but their financial assistance isn't available for everyone they say it is. As a not-for-profit they were the least willing to work with me of any medical group I've ever dealt with, and they sent my bill to collections AFTER having established a payment plan, a payment plan they did not follow through on their part. And I still had to pay all the medical bills of all care after that event, because they id not do all the testing needed to determine the cause, cost that could have been avoided and put my health in even greater jeopardy. read more

Had chest pains, arrived by ambulance told them I wasn't going to take the covid test, they kept sending doctors in trying to persuade me otherwise I told them the same including a heart Dr. that was very rude and unprofessional. He said that they needed to check for blockage when I was in the room, I told him I wasn't taking the test, so they scheduled it then when I got there he was very rude and tried pressuring me to get the test done and refused me the blockage test at this point which was unnecessary and very unprofessional. So as they discharged me the nurse made the comment that she hoped I didn't die because I refused the covid test and wasn't given the blockage test, which they told me my blood work indicated i was having a heart attack. read more
