He quickly ran through all the material, observed us all practicing, made us repeat back all the key numbers and steps we need to remember, and kept everything light and fun. So..I have even MORE love for CPR associates now that they offer some classes online!!! I just took my CPR recert online through CPR Associates and AHA. ($50)..do the online portion, take the test, bring your certificate in, and then do a short hands-on skills session (mine took 10 minutes or less--just the facts ma'am, no-nonsense)...then they hand you the card, and you're on your way. They also have an online ACLS option, but that one's just a bit spendy for me right now (it's over $200)...but it's a very nice option to offer people who might not want to spend 4+ hours doing classroom work (I would much rather sit on my couch in my PJs with my laptop for this kind of stuff) read more

Finding somewhere to become CPR certified last minute, quickly and cheaply is not super easy to come across. I found pricing throughout the city ranging from a steep $80, all the way down to CPR Associates for $35. As a new graduate Nursing student, the money was a big deciding factor so I went with CPR Associates. Their website provides a lot of the necessary information on the course like hours, location, various training courses offered (both in-person and E-learning), etc. I needed to be educated in manual infant/child/adult CPR, two-man CPR, BLS (Basic Life Support) and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) use. This place covers it all in 2 hours (not 2.5 hours as stated on the website)!! I had Norma as my trainer and she was fabulous! She remained enthusiastic, helpful and entertaining throughout the entire course which helped time pass by. I came across a few pros and cons along the way. Cons: -When you walk in from the street there is a small foyer connected an office and a long hallway leading to the classroom. Right there is a computer where they register you for your class. The participant's contact information (address, phone number, etc) are visible to everyone who enters. They should purchase a privacy screen or register people from within their office. Just a recommendation. -I'd prefer an online registration to reserve a spot ahead of time (since it's just walk-in). Since it was snowing the day of my training, people were arriving last minute/late holding everyone up...a tad aggravating. -Location is not easily reached via public transit making me wish I owned a vehicle. I had to take the Brown Line to Western and the Western #49B bus north, then walk a few blocks. Pros: -Price! Only $35 for those who have a certification that had already expired or those who have never taken the course before. If you take the class again BEFORE your certification expires (good for 2 years), it's $5 cheaper at $30 (cash, credit/debit cards and checks all accepted). -Since I visited in December, they had a deal where you can save $5 off your training if you bring in a new toy for a Catholic Charities Metro Chicago toy drive (12/1-12/25). I'm all about saving money! -While the building itself is old and the chairs and uncomfortable (helping you not mind sitting down and standing up to use the mannequin), they have complimentary ice water, hot coffee and cookies. I took my ACLS renewal here yesterday and I couldn't be more satisfied with my experience. I've been dreading it all month but it was the best class I've ever taken. Maryann is so high energy and really made it fun and totally unintimidating. And so informative. I was also pretty lucky that everyone in class was renewing so it went very smoothly and quickly. And I already received my card via email. If you're looking for a lot of lecture, this isn't the place. Most of the class was spent on your feet so make sure you do your pre class work! The instructors are very knowledgeable, and the classes are informative and enjoyable because everyone there seems to have a good since of humor. The cost is affordable, and the teachers are amazing. My hospital offers classes for free, but I rather pay to learn in a comfortable stress free environment. They are very responsive to email and were able to accommodate me in less than 24 hour notice. THIS PLACE IS GREAT! I'm an agency nurse and have a hectic schedule. So I don't always have time to come in for 7 hours and take an ACLS class. Thanks to the e-learning they offer I was able to take the class at home and come in for just a 30 min skills session last week to get my card. Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against their ACLS class. I just don't have the time. I came in for one a few years ago and it was fantastic. This was honestly the best overall experience I've ever had finding, registering for, and taking a CPR class. They make the whole experience super convenient and hassle free. Received my ACLS certification on Friday. It was a great experience and learned a lot from Gloria. She is very welcoming and explains the material well. Recognizing important rhythms and using the manual defibrillator again and again helped me retain information. It made me feel comfortable on using the defibrillator since I don't use it often in the hospital. I definitely recommend getting your ACLS/BLS certification. read more

Got my ACLS certification here last Friday with instructor Gloria and she was phenomenal. It was a great experience giving that this was my first time getting my ACLS. I am an RN starting agency nursing and needed this done for my new job. She taught at a good/clear pace that even a novice nurse with less experience could still be able to keep up and understand. I especially like that they still have in-class services even due to COVID but their facility was extremely clean, they practiced social distancing with the students and made sure we were safe during class. I started attending CPR Associates with Gloria Limos when she was still holding the CPR certification classes in her home basement back in 1996 (which, ironically, was located on the next block from a cemetery). She is such a great instructor who uses clear and effective methods in giving lectures and demonstrations. They've grown and expanded since but remains my most recommended place to get your BLS, ACLS, PALS, etc. You won't simply pass your certification exam but will actually understand it. The staff are very accommodating, street parking is free, and there's always snacks and lunch provided. read more

Very glad I found this place. They have CPR classes every day (not sure about Sundays), and no appointment is required. I was surprised to see a full class on a random Thursday night. Our instructor was very friendly, informative, and very intelligent. He even took the time to explain why the American Heart Association made recent changes to the CPR guidelines. I went in today to the Peterson office to renew my BLS Certification. Norma was the instructor and she did an excellent job. She was cheerful, highly informative, gave detailed explanations and the rationales for why we do and don't do certain things while giving CPR. She didn't rush through the material which I really appreciate. I don't just want to get a card, I actually want to learn and retain useful information that's going to be vital when it actually comes time to do CPR! The class took 2 hours but it felt like less than an hour. She kept the class engaging and upbeat. I have had several Hospital based classes where the material is rushed through so fast, 30 minutes of class tops. There is no time to retain anything and AHA has changed CPR guidelines several times in the last 8 years or so. The price was definitely a bargain at 40 dollars. Very convenient hours for those of us who wait till the last minute to do things! I called late Friday afternoon and was able to come in the next day, A Saturday!!!! to get things done. Which is great, I'm ready for work Monday morning now! They offer plenty of times which is convenient and offer ACLS too. I could care less that the foyer is small, the building being older, hard chairs, etc....The dummies were new, clean and got the job done. Excellent instruction is what I'm interested in and that's exactly what you'll get here. Bonus: I received 3 contact hours towards my continuing education hours! read more
