So I reached out. He texted and responded every time I reached out but it was a vague response so I had to pin him down as to what the date was that he was coming. After signing the contract, which was five times as much as the surveyor our realtor usually uses but couldn't because he was in the hospital, they told us we needed to either cut our fence or install gates for them to access the corners! Are we the only people with a four foot tall chain link fence? What do they do if there is a wooden privacy fence? Those don't have gates at every corner either. Ah-ha, we do have a gate in one spot I say. But wait! There may be bees over there, it is outside you know! I'm not saying they are lying because I am not in the state to check it out but I can say we were right in that area for a bonfire five days ago and I did not see or hear any. So they email back and say, you need to find another surveyor as we will not do it. Apparently fence and nature are outside the scope of work for a surveyor? And Apparently, signed contractual agreements mean nothing! I am usually overly understanding but this is the worst service and experience I have ever dealt with. Now we need to find another surveyor fast because it is about to start affecting our closing date! Stay away at all costs, we learned the hard way!

The escrow agent is not willing to prorate our final water and sewage charges. The deed transfer…read morewas incorrectly recorded as 5 days later after the actual closing date, which resulted in our paying the buyer's usage of water/sewage for 5 days between the closing date and the recorded title transfer date. Neither Cuyahoga County nor Cleveland Water is willing to correct the closing date. The escrow agent is supposed to ensure buyer and seller pay fair share of expenses. In our case, they stick to one rule which is unfair to us as the seller. They know very well how the county recording office works and should have allowed enough time for recording. Claiming timing of deed recording is out of their control is just an excuse for negligence. The deed recording office also confirmed that it was title agent's responsibility to deliver documents by mail in advance or in person on the closing day. After several days of calling/emailing all the above agencies and filing the complaint with BBB, Ohio Real Title finally offered $100 as a courtesy. So I'm changing from 1 to 3 stars. Also this is a lesson for future home buyers and sellers in Cuyahoga County Ohio. Specifically request your title escrow agent to deliver documents on or before the closing date no matter which one you use.
