Had breakfast this morning in Dunn NC. First the table was dirty and sticky. Asked waitress to clean table. She got a wet cloth and cleaned table and then gave us a dry cloth and told us to dry. Ok. Then she brings our coffee and this is what 2 cups looked like when we received them. Lipstick on our coffee cups she brought out. I asked for manager and he came out and said I'm sorry that they are very busy. Are you kidding me. That's your excuse for dirty sticky table and especially coffee cups with lipstick on them from prior customers. I would be ashamed to call this a responsible manager. Went here on Saturday June 21st 2025 with my parents for a much needed breakfast. We arrived at just about opening time, and the door was open, and customers were ready to be served. Also, this is our first time at this location, and pretty much set up the same as other cracker barrels. The host stand was in the far left, and the restrooms were to the far right-- and they were very clean as we used them too. We were sat immediately by a host, and taken care of by a nice server. Oh and side note: there was dirty tables with dishes but they were immediately cleaned up shortly after we sat down. Server was very pleasant and we started with 3 waters, and 3 coffees. Server was great at refilling coffees and making sure that we were taken care of. For entrees, we tried the cinnamon rolls, which were okay. I ordered the chocolate chip pancakes with sausage. Oh and special kudos to this server who knew that this breakfast comes by itself, or with a meal. I got it by itself with a side of impossible sausage my parents both got strawberry pancakes with bacon and an egg cooked over easy. Food came out in a timely manner and was very enjoyable. Our server was great, the kitchen... that was the struggle. The hostess was great. She was kind and sat us in 20 mins during a slightly busy lunch. Once seated, our server came within 2 minutes to take our drink orders and promptly brought them. A few minutes later she came by to take our order The kitchen, this is the issue. Why did it take over 20 minutes for an order of the cheddar bites? I don't understand that. Why did it take over 45 minutes for our entrees? Meatloaf and a burger... come on. What can I say about an all time fav but the food never disappoints me. It's good old country food that warms the heart and belly! The service we had was great! It was full and very busy and we were seated rather quickly. The ambiance here is old things and I'm just mesmerized by things in here. Valentine's meal this visit. Buy 2 certain entrees and enjoy a free dessert. They've changed the menu again. We just beat the crowd, and service was perfect. Didn't wait too long between 'courses'. Beverages are always good, fresh brewed tea, including unsweetened. Hot, fresh biscuits while we waited for entrees. We enjoyed the roast beef, mashed potatoes, green beans, and a new trio entree that included sirloin beef tips with garlic butter sauce, fried shrimp, and grilled or fried chicken tenders, sides were macaroni and cheese and broccoli. Shrimp was just ok. there was too much breading. After pulling the breading off, I found small shrimp inside. No dipping sauces were offered for the shrimp or chicken tenders. I asked for hot sauce and blue cheese to make my own dip. Grilled tenders are small, similar to what you have on a salad, but were moist and seasoned well. Sirloin, not my favorite cut, was surprisingly tender and tasty with the garlic butter sauce. We chose the complimentary Double Chocolate Fudge Coca Cola cake to share. It is accompanied by a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Excellent portion for sharing, and oh, so rich. You must order some coffee or milk to enjoy it. Whew! The wait was 15 minutes but our table was ready pretty quick. We were ready to order just because we knew what we wanted. Our server didn't even wait on us. She took our order and then it is was the hostess who checked on us. My order was wrong and honestly was not good. The grilled chicken was wet and had no flavor. Every time I've been to this location, portions of what I've ordered have been forgotten... I mean every single time I've been here. If you're in a rush, I wouldn't eat here, but if you're feeling particularly patient, it's not a bad spot. We arrived about an hour before closing on a Tuesday and had a large party--11 people. They were busy at 8pm, but we were able to all be seated together after about a 30 minute wait. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. The kitchen was slow and out of so many things, such as lettuce greens, smoked Turkey, (no salad for me), pinto beans, fried okra, hash-brown casserole, and fried apples. I ended up with an overcooked tough cheese burger that was cold. The pancakes got high reviews. It's probably best to order what they do best--breakfast! The steak tips were soaked in garlic and the hash brown casserole was burnt on the outside and cold in the middle (like it had been reheated). We told our server about this and how it was not edible. We did go in at 9:30 an they close at 10....We were traveling an not familiar with the area an figured Cracker Barrel always has good food...however this was not the case. Service was very long...but it was slightly busy. The food was really a No go. I had a good visit to this Cracker Barrel. My waitress was in training and very friendly and did a great job. She went out of her way to make sure I had everything I needed. I liked that this Cracker Barrel brought the bread out before the entree. I prefer the cornbread to the biscuit but was just brought biscuits. Apple butter was provided as well as jam and butter. We normally love Cracker Barrel, and stop during road trips. For this location, please, save yourself the trouble--just keep on driving to the next one, as the service and management here are atrocious. Quick stop for a road trip meal? Not here. We stopped on on a Tuesday night at 5:35pm for a meal for 4 and were not able to get out til 7:26pm. (We were seated at 6pm, received our food at 6:58 (yes, and hour later!!). So basically a "short stop" that took 2 HOURS! It took us 30 minutes to be seated, then the server, Miguel D, took FOREVER to come over to take our drink order, then FOREVER to return for our meal order-- and that was just to place the order! At the 40 minute mark (by this time, I was timing it), I finally had to ask him if he was going to bring the biscuits included with our meal. When they finally did come, there was no apple butter and he had not offered it, so I had to seek it out at the kitchen entrance. Maybe we could understand how slowly Miguel moves, if he were older, but this guy is maybe 20? From time of seating: - 45 minutes until biscuits arrived (and we had to request them, even though three of our meals indicated biscuits). 45 minutes of sitting there, not a crumb to eat. - 58 minutes until the food came. 58 minutes! at a Cracker Barrel! We ordered chicken and dumplin's, soup, some sides, and fish. 58 minutes! from time of seating! For food that is basically already cooked!! except the fish, which, even if not cooked already, takes all of 5 minutes for something that thin! You might say "oh they were busy"--but they were not--a full room was empty. The waiter, Miguel D, was just slow as molasses. Sooooooo slowwwwww. Did I mention slow? The incompetence as a server was made further obvious when Miguel handed one of our party the broccoli dish without warning her it was scalding hot. She dropped it to the table, it was so hot. He didn't notice (apparently) and walked away, as broccoli fell to the floor. Some people should just not be waiters, just don't have the talent or skill or instinct for it, and this is one of those cases. It's really the general manager's responsibility to recognize and rectify this, not simply let it continue so you have a warm body in the role. Even though we were tired and ready to leave, we decided to bring it up to the manager, Mark, because as managers we appreciate the chance to rectify a situation. We asked Miranda to get the manager. 10 minutes later, no manager. We finally sought her out. She said "you want me to get the manager?" (um, yes, which is why we asked you earlier and you said you would). We have no idea why she did not go get him the first time. Mind boggling. "He is in the back of the kitchen." When Manager Mark finally emerged from the kitchen, he was absolutely no help whatsoever. Saw no problem with the slow as molasses waiter, blamed it all on covid (please--no one in this restaurant was wearing a mask, and you're trying to tell me covid is a concern for people here?). Covid is a tired, lame excuse for egregious mismanagement. Mark offered no compensation for our miserable experience, only excuses. But he did give us the joy of writing this review, so that others can be forewarned. Just avoid this one and choose the one 10 minutes down. Save yourself a couple of hours! read more

Not the best timing. It took 45 minutes for our order that we called in. They quoted us 10-15 minutes. It was very simple order- a breakfast sandwich and scrambled eggs with bacon. The food wasn't the warmest when we received it, as if it was sitting there for quite a while. We finally found out they had no biscuits when inquiring multiple times on why it was taking so long. Really dissatisfied and Disappointed with this location. There were a ton of workers in the front of the store and probably not enough workers in the back. It took my husband to continuously inquire to have them easily throw corn bread in our box instead of biscuits. Generally, it's this predictability and consistency that makes Cracker Barrel restaurants so appealing to us. This one had the typical set up, and the staff were courteous and friendly as always. However, the wait time for our food was long, and they seemed maybe understaffed or something. It took a good 30 minutes to get pancakes, eggs, and oatmeal. Every server was hustling around, so it's not that they weren't movin' fast enough. Again, it wasn't a *bad* experience and no one was rude or anything. Just not our best Cracker Barrel visit. From start to finish, my family had a wonderful experience last night! With my sister recently moving to Dunn, we decided to check out the cracker barrel as it is so close to her new home. I have never been to a cracker barrel before, so this was my first visit, and I was left extremely happy! As A party of 7 (5 adults and 2 kids), we were greeted by an excellent server and his trainee (he will make a wonderful addition to your team). Both men were pleasant and on top of their section. Drinks and biscuits were brought out very quickly, as well as our order being taken and delivered to our table...I was able to try a little bit of everything, as the portions are generous and my family are good sharers...omg is everything delicious! My dish was the lemon pepper trout and the flavors were spot on with the fish being cooked perfectly. The kids both had the fruity pebble pancakes (my nephew gave me a bite as well), and boy does that bring back some childhood memories! They even give you your own little syrup bottle! Mom and dad both had the roast beef, which they thoroughly enjoyed, and my sister and bro in law both had the sampler...I'm not a huge ham person, but they loved it...that meatloaf though! What flavors and tenderness! All the sides were excellent as well...YUM for chicken and dumplin's (my first time trying), creamy and cheesy Mac n cheese, slaw, streaks fries, hash casserole...each was a hit! That loaded sweet baked potato w the roasted giant marshmallow, candied nuts, and syrup was incredible! I subbed a side for a salad, and it was a really nice size loaded w all the toppings you'd expect (and lots of them!). Top notch service, delicious food, friendly staff...made our dinner very memorable. As for the store, it is filled with so many wonderful and different items! I walked around shopping and finding little treasures for a nice amount of time...definitely can find great gifts, things for your home, even cute apparel, jewelry, and holiday decorations! The shop staff were so sweet and helpful too! I ended up getting my nephews each a baby yoda spinner watch, an awesome pair of salt & pepper shakers (my sister collects them), both my mom and sister cute wooden signs, and my dad a really nice manicure set (for traveling). I never thought a CB could mess up fried chicken bit mine was a ton of coating and very little chicken.

I just moved to Sampson county and this was near my new home. My 3 cousins helped me move so I decided to take them out to eat. Everyone's food was over cooked, rubbery and hard. I have been to many other locations but this one is the worst. I'll never go back!!! It's terrible because I love this place and employees ruin a business. Whoever was the cook that day should be fired!!! I paid $80 for 4 people and we didn't even enjoy the food. We all got different dishes and no one enjoyed it. I wish I saved the receipt, took photos and told s manager. I did tell the cashier but I doubt she told anyone. I hope this place hires better people and the food is cooked properly. The meatloaf is always a feel good meal. Their mashed potatoes are not my favorite. They tend to be lumpy and dry. I love the beans and greens with cornbread. The server made sure that we had our food and our drinks. The ambiance is always fun because it depicts life in a country atmosphere and it is fun to see the older photos and advertisements. This review is for this location only. This was the first Cracker Barrel I've ever been to and I had a pleasant experience. The atmosphere was laid back and casual. The staff was friendly and approachable. I also loved the kitschy decor in the dining area. Bonus points for their retail section because they carry a lot of cool stuff. Honestly, the food here is only okay, nothing special, and as expected for a large chain restaurant. Overall, the food tasted a little bland. I did like their very generous portion sizes. Another plus is that for the amount of food you receive, the price is really affordable. Based on food alone, I would have originally given this place about 3.5 stars, but since our server was awesome and service was very good, I rounded up on my review. read more
