Poor experience here tonight. We had the meatloaf, and 2 sides being broccoli and macaroni . Broccoli was slimy and stinky , the ends were black from not being fresh. The meatloaf was even worse. It smelled like a wet dog. It was probably left over and made me extremely sick. I talked to the manager on duty (Faith) didn't resolve the issue and all she said was they recently changed recipes and it probably had something to do with that.? My girls and I went to this Cracker Barrel in Midland, TX, for my birthday brunch back on June 10, 2024. Parking was simple. They have their own lot. Restrooms were mostly clean. We were seated almost immediately. We meandered through their gift shop for maybe one minute before they called us. Cute & cool gift ideas can be found here -- mainly for kids and women. Service was a bit slow getting to us, but picked up quickly thereafter. Here was our order: Kid's Sprite $1.99 Southern Half n' Half $3.29 Kid's meal with birthday pancakes & bacon $4.99 Kid's meal with popcorn shrimp & fries $6.49 Creole Shrimp $12.99 - so good! Except the toast. I just wasn't a fan. Since we were stuffed, our waitress gave me a piece of chocolate cake to go for us to share later! It was delicious. read more

What happened to this place? The food was horrible at this place and every other customer in this place had a sour face, most likely from the horrible tasting food. Ambiance was what you would expect from a Cracker Barrel. The tea tasted stale like it had been sitting for a day or two, not even remotely refreshing. My family had ordered homestyle fried chicken and a country fried steak, and both tasted like they've been rotting in a freezer, only covered with salt and pepper, and thrown into the frier. No flavor, made our stomachs upset, and had the audacity to be over 15 dollars PER PLATE. The lack of any flavor or depth really puts the cracker in Cracker Barrel. I'd put a negative star review if it was an option. 0/10 read more

We used to eat at Cracker Barrel once a week when they opened the Midland location. Now we go once every four to six weeks. Service and food quality have really gone downhill. We have learned to ask what they are out of before we look at the menu!!! I'm not sure about their staff training. Not sure wait staff stays long enough to get proper training. They seem to have more turnover than other restaurants. We see a noticeable positive difference at locations in other towns. read more

Dinner with my wire. We were seated quickly and had menus immediately, wit drinks shortly afterward, decaf coffee and water for each of us. A couple of biscuits and corn muffins with butter and blackberry jam was provided too. We had a hankerin' for home cooking tonight. My wife ordered the veggie plate, with dumplings, apples, taters, carrots,,, I ordered the classic sampler (meatloaf and a fried chicken breast) with mashed taters and greens. Our food arrived fairly quickly as the restaurant wasn't full on a Monday evening. The food was very good, too much though, I guess my eyes are too big for my belt now. Two hour wait for a non eatable meal. We were told the wait was 15 minutes after an hour they seated us after another 45 minutes the waitress informed us they were out of chicken and dumplings. Cracker Barrel is always a solid choice for a casual meal. The food is good--nothing fancy, but comforting and reliable. I usually go for the chicken and dumplings or chicken fried steak, and my son loves the kids menu, especially getting to circle his order and see the pictures. The staff is always friendly, and we love hanging out in the general store before or after eating--playing checkers has become a little tradition. The old-timey decor keeps my son entertained with a game of "I Spy" while we wait. It's just a fun, easy place to eat with the family. read more

Went for a later lunch on a Saturday 20 min wait to get a table but they have the General Store. So that was ok Got to our table the floor was dirty knife and used napkin under table. Waitress attitude was not impressive. Ordered a half and half tea and lemonade, was delivered an unsweetened tea. Ordered fried chicken only to find that they did not have any. This is the third time I have tried them and the third time I have been disappointed. Keep the popular food items on hand. Clean the floor and care about the customers experience. Do better. 10/10 wouldn't EVER recommend on top of waiting for a seat and walking around endlessly in a sea of people then you get to the table and you're ignored for minutes on minutes and then you go to order which you've pretty much had ready to recite since you walked in and they are out of biscuits. How can that literally be? We got put on the sitting list at 11:09. We were told the wait would be 45 minutes. It's now an hour later & we were just told we have a further 15 - 20 minute wait. Maybe in the future the people at the hostess stand could be better trained to estimate the time a customer would have to wait for a table. If we had been told we would have to wait more than an hour we would have chosen a different place to eat!! And it would also help to have people who speak clear English when calling the names. read more

I've been to many cracker barrels as I travel. This one is one to skip. I've stopped here twice now. Both times the food was not all that good. The last time was the chicken with bacon on top. The chicken was over done to the point I should of asked for a steak knife. My wife had the loaded bake potato in which they didn't put all the items on. I asked about Wi-Fi password word and the manager didn't know there was Wi-Fi there. Said that the password was too long and it was secure. I think that maybe the first cracker barrel I've been too with no Wi-Fi. The 1st time I went and I think the waitress was stuck on stupid and the 2nd time I felt like I was being husseled with a performance of memorized lines of over performing of making sure you remember her name. Not very many biscuits both times with the first having to request them. I'll be skipping this place next time. read more

We ate here Thanksgiving for lunch. And although it was crowded, they got people in fairly quickly. We had fried pickles, chicken and dumplings, chicken fried steak, turkey and dressing. READ: We just left Cracker Barrel. My family and I have been eating morning breakfast here across the US for over a decade. In all my years of eating ANYWHERE I have never had such a TERRIBLE service experience. We were a party of 6, everyone receives their plates. Immediately we notice the smell of bad pork from the country ham. The ham also had the white film you notice when package meat goes bad. The table is all in agreement it needs to be sent back. NO PROBLEM. They come back with bacon served on the SAME PLATE! The bad ham was served on top of the eggs and hash brown casserole along with all of its JUICES!! MISTAKES HAPPEN. We are an easy going family, always have been. Our intent is NOT to take a free meal. The rest of us were satisfied with our plates. At this point, we request a manager. His name was John Weddle. Our request was simple, a new plate for our dissatisfied member. To our collective surprise, we received nothing but rebuttals. 1. He claims the Ham was supposed to smell like it did. Mind you, it STUNK! 2. He REFUSED to serve my father a new plate of eggs and hashbrown casserole What did he expect us to do? The rest of us eat while my father watches?! What would have been a SIMPLE solution turned into this.. a novel to all who made it this far explaining how we inevitably left WITHOUT eating 6 of the 8 plates. No cream cheese, just crumbled French toast with some crust pieces that were so stale you couldn't even chew them! Strawberry syrup was good. Cracker Barrel used to be one of my favorites. I don't know if overall quality has diminished or if it's just this location. But our last 3 visits have been really disappointing. Service was borderline ok Food was edible; but that's as good as I can go. Greens were all salt, gravy was bland and chicken fry was like something frozen from a box. My husband's masked potatoes were "tasteless." With other restaurants in the area serving this type of food; we won't be going back. read more

Bless you, if like us, you ordered from this pitiful excuse of a restaurant for Christmas. We just picked up our order that we made over a week ago and are minus a pecan pie, the honey glazed ham promised, the chicken broth for the dressing and the 2 table cloths. Lesson learned. Honestly I wasn't expecting the best food-that's not really why we go here. Although, the roast beef, the day after Christmas (a Sunday) was particularly rubbery. The biggest issue was our server, Brenda-a young lady with brown hair, could not have sucked more. The restaurant was not busy, but we still kept in mind the current state of labor in our country to offer her redemption but it wasn't her inability to bring us our basic dining necessities (silverware/napkins, beverages) in a timely matter or her inability to to temper the items we asked for (which should have come with our food to begin with) but the fact that when asked what the cobbler was she proceeded to guess which flavor it currently was. Her actual words were, "maybe blackberry or even pineapple" to which she walked away... This was a fun experience I highly don't recommend after a 8 hour drive to make it back home after the holiday with three children under the age of three. read more

I went with high expectations of a home style Thanksgiving Dinner. I got there early to be ahead of the crowd. I got there around 4:30 pm. Waited 30 minutes for a table for one. When I was ready to order I was informed that they were out of the traditional Thanksgiving dinner. No turkey, no dressing, no sweet potatoes or any kind of pie for dessert. If I would have known this I surely wouldn't have waited 30 minutes to be seated and eat something I really didn't want.
