This shop is run by some lovely welcoming volunteers who are genuinely pleased when you find something you really want. I bought some new games for a kids group and they were really happy that they were going to a good home. There are clothes and bric a brac. The stock of books is good and they often have older books which I find fascinating.I dont mean expensive first editions but stuff you remember from years ago and enjoy reading again.The area and the shop are well worth a visit.

They sell quite a nice range of jewellery and they are one of the best places in town for buying necklace chains, they sell them in many different lengths and styles. They have a massive selection of ornaments, from Disney to Pendelfin to those bears that pretend to be cute but are saying nasty things. (can't think of the name of them!!!) I love looking in the window at the revolving displays and all the lovely ornaments. When I was looking for a 21st themed present I found the perfect picture frame in there after having scoured virtually every other shop in town!!! There is bound to be something in there for everyone.

It was one of the few shops in Scarborough that could feed my Sylvannian Families addiction! As a child the shop had a sort of magical atmosphere, going down the windy staircase to look through all the treasures down there. Sulmans doesn't appear to have quite the same uniqueness nowadays, they still sell Sylvanian families but so does a lot of other shops now. They don't seem to have anything unique about them as they used to. The upstairs 'gift' section is more aimed at adults but is not particularly inspiring and the same stuff is available in many other shops across town. Downstairs is still an Aladdin's cave of toys but only the same as any other toy shop and quite expensive. They do have quite a nice range of fancy dress outfits (angel and devil outfits perfect for a girly night out!!).

The store is well laid out with clearly identifiable areas i.e separate decorating section etc. They have quite a good range of plants and out door goods. The staff are very helpful and friendly and are always happy to order things in for you. They have the usual hard to wheel B&Q trolleys but do have plenty of normal ones as well so you can usually manage to get a manoeuvrable one!

The new pottery items are nice for gifts and a while ago I bought some very pretty scent bottles as a gift.If you donate items and pay tax you can help by allowing them to claim tax back on the profit. I have allways found thestaff very happy to get something out of a box or show case to let you have a look.
