Nothing fancy here just awesome bar b q in this hole in a wall place in De Valls Bluff, AR. Love the cole slaw on the pork sandwich.

All you need to know about the decor.

Craig's is a distinctive, dare I say... stretching, experience. It's a short drive off I-40. In spite of (or because of?) my extensive redneck past, everything about it - the physical establishment, the clientele, the decor - made me uneasy. And I generally see dives as a challenge. But I'm glad I went, and I'll be back, should I ever have reason to be in this delta Timbuktu again. There's almost a "squatters' party in a condemned building // keep an eye out for the cops!" vibe going on. All it needs is a burn barrel to complete the aesthetic. In retrospect, it appeals to me. In the moment, it was unnerving. The pork is nothing to slap anyone over. In fact, I found it to be pretty tough. But the sauce beats it into submission. It's thick, even a little bitter? Get it as hot as you can handle. It's a pretty special combination. The side is... chips. Maybe they had beans; I don't remember since I don't do beans. (I know, I am the barbeque heretic.) It's all about the meat here, folks. This is one of those sum-of-the-parts experiences. Everything taken separately, it's decent at best, just plain scary at worst. The icing on the cake is the endorphin rush that comes as one drives away, the joy of surviving to tell. But seriously, the food is like nothing I've had in 30 years of dozens of high- and low-end Tennessee BBQ joints. Highly unique and highly recommended for adventurous souls in the area. A must-stop for BBQ pilgrims.

What a hole in the wall. We visited Craig's BBQ in Devalls Bluff on a trip across country. This place is infamous in Arkansas and my fiancee's family had been going here for over 50 years. Man, they've got a great thing going there, but the place is tiny and I wish it were cleaner looking. The folks there are extremely friend and seem to make the best out of their little ship. The food is to die for. The tangy BBQ sauce combined with the coleslaw make the pork sandwich my new favorite in the world. I had this sandwich only once before after her aunt had frozen it and we ate it months later. That was good. Being there, in the moment, eating the real thing was even better. I don't know if I will ever get back, but because my fiancee's history with the state of Arkansas, I can confidently say I will eat Craig's again. We bought some BBQ sauce home with us, so we'll just have to see how that goes -- I might have to have them FedEx me a case of it. Sweet crackers this place is good.

If you haven't heard of Craig's your hiding under a rock. This is one of the best home in the wall BBQ joints in Arkansas. Yesterday I got there pork dinner plate with slaw and beans. There was enough meat for 2 sandwiches on that plate! I love their cole slaw, you can tell his made from scratch. (I think they put apple in it) but over all some great southern BBQ. If you with in 30 miles of De Valls Bluff, head to Craig's. You won't be disappointed.

Traveling from Northern Alabama to Colorado and decided to stop here for lunch. Located in a small town with a lot of character. You can tell how much they care about the food from the look of the place. The pork sandwich was delicious and the pie was even better. We were probably inside for 20 mins and every person that came in greeted everyone in the place. Not sure if everyone in this town is just that nice or it's small enough that everyone knows each other. Either way, if you're in the area definitely check this place out for some authentic Arkansas BBQ.

Sweet, tangy and just a bit of spice on pork with a grilled bun.

The hot pork sandwich was worth the stop. A small roadside shack that should definitely be checked out.

You have to try the potato babies appetizer. It's $5.50 as I post this and you get A LOT of potato wedges. The server brought 2 cups of ranch because there were two of us there. That's a very subtle and very nice touch to customer service. The food was excellent of courses, as were the desserts. T had the first scoop of banana pudding for the day and I had the chocolate fries pie with ice cream. I'm only a little upset we didn't purchase one of the brownies or a slice of pecan pie they had sitting on the bar. Both looked really, really good.

Our server took amazing care of us and was very attentive despite having a large party and other tables We opted for the fried green tomatoes as an app and then the platter with all the meats and we subbed the chicken out for catfish. Sides we chose baked beans and fries. Fried green tomatoes- were crunchy and the breading actually stayed on the tomato. They were seasoned perfectly. Absolutely would get these again Platter which was at market price of 37$ about a 1/4 pound of each meat and 3 pieces of catfish for the substitute Chopped brisket (they were out of sliced) It was a little dry since it was so close to end of the day but overall good flavor and smoked taste Chopped pork- wasn't your typical smoked pork but it had more of a nice smoked flavor than most would like to try it sliced next time Sausage has a little bit of a thick skin but an amazing flavor and juicy Ribs were our least favorite you got 3 and they were very dry and I wasn't a fan of the seasoning but that's personal preference Catfish hands down the best I've ever had. It was friend to perfection. The breading was light and crispy I really wish I lived closer just for the catfish Hush puppies were a little over cooked but had a good flavor Fries were soooo good and had a nice seasoning on them Baked beans were good as well with a little bacon in them. Texas toast was soft yet likely toasted Overall I would order this meal again for us to share. It was more food than we could finish. Also if you have an EV they have 4 chargers for free. If you have a Tesla you just need the adapter They also have semi truck parking

I was recently driving from New Orleans to Mountain Home, Arkansas, and anytime I have a road trip…read morethrough barbecue country, I'm looking for an excuse to stop. Growing up in the Bootheel, barbecue isn't just food, it's part of life. Before this trip, I did a little research and kept seeing Suttle's listed among the best barbecue joints in Arkansas and that was enough for me. I rolled in about 40 minutes before closing and grabbed my order to go. The staff couldn't have been friendlier, the bathrooms were spotless, and the prices were more than fair. I ordered a pig sandwich with the hot sauce and slaw, fried okra, mustard potato salad, a half rack of ribs, sweet tea, and a fried cherry pie. The pig sandwich was the winner of the barbecue. The hot sauce had just enough kick to earn the name without overpowering the pork. The meat was moist and tender, not quite pulled pork and not quite chopped, but somewhere in that middle ground. I also loved the slaw. It was diced instead of shredded and just creamy enough to complement the sandwich instead of taking it over. The mustard potato salad was outstanding. I grew up eating mustard potato salad, and this one had that unmistakable "deviled egg" flavor that great mustard potato salad is supposed to have. I completely understand why so many people rave about it. Definitely order a side of it. The ribs were good, just not my personal style. They had nice flavor, but they reminded me more of slow-cooker ribs than that low-and-slow smoked barbecue with a heavy bark that I usually gravitate toward. They were already nice and juicy, so I never even opened the container of mild sauce. The fried okra was fine. Nothing wrong with it, but it tasted like the standard pre-breaded version you find in a lot of restaurants. Now...let's talk about that fried cherry pie. It absolutely stole the show. It tasted homemade, with a golden, buttery crust dusted in powdered sugar and a tart-sweet cherry filling that was still hot when I bit into it. I'd drive out of my way for another one. The runner-up? The sweet tea. One more glass and I probably would've needed to schedule a dentist appointment, but it was exactly what I wanted after a long day on the road. Suttle's isn't trying to reinvent Arkansas barbecue. It's serving honest food, generous portions, friendly hospitality, and one of the best fried pies I've had in a long time. I'd happily stop again the next time I'm passing through.
