Very disappointed and not helpful…read more I'm a Realtor and contacted Merry Plumbing during a buyer's inspection contingency period because we needed an estimate for an issue with low water pressure. When I initially called, I was told the plumber was going out of town the following day but would provide me with an estimate before leaving. I followed up the next day, only to be told by the receptionist that he had already left for vacation without completing the estimate. I asked if perhaps a supervisor could help provide an estimate. The receptionist rather flippantly said maybe he could get to it Monday (this was Friday) and said she would get back to me. I never heard back and, because of the timing of the inspection contingency, I was essentially left out of luck. What was even more frustrating is that another plumber we ultimately called took a look at the issue and immediately identified the problem: the water valves were only halfway open. Once they were fully turned on, the water pressure was completely fine. It was a very simple fix. The Merry Plumbing technician completely missed this and instead suggested that the low pressure might be due to hard-water buildup. The lack of follow-through and the failure to identify what turned out to be a very simple issue was extremely disappointing, especially given the time-sensitive nature of a real estate transaction. Based on this experience, I would not use them again.

A water pipe broke on MLK Day in which I needed to shut the water off…read more The plumber I have been using for years came out the next day and said they didn't have the man power help me. The pipe was enclosed in concrete on which the washer and dryer sat. Plus, I have a concrete footing they would have needed to navigate around to reroute the pipe. The second plumber quoted me $6,200 which included going around the footing (to avoid tearing into the concrete floor) and opening one of the walls, approximately two feet, to reroute the pipe. Repairing the walls was excluded from the $6,200. A third plumber's solution was to open two walls and the ceiling to reroute the pipe up and over. That was a non-starter. I found New Design Plumbing (NDP) from a friend who's also a general contractor. The sent two people out who crawled underneath house and took pictures and video. The next morning, Thursday, Juan arrived to verify the pictures/video from they day before and to take a look for himself. NDP ended up going around the footing and up threw the washer/dryer wall but, they made a small hole for a new fixture vs. tearing the wall open. Because of their schedule, the work was going to happen four days later but, two members of the crew were able to come earlier. All told, they were there about six hours and finished on Thursday for a fraction of the cost. The plumbing company we've been using for years I'm going to set aside and start using NDP. I'm very happy with the quality of their work and response time.
