I've been shopping here long before the current management took over this local lumber yard. They happened to carry some very unusual and hard to find stock such as full 1x6 vertical grain Douglas fir which is essential for making new door frames identical to those in our original old craftsman homes. I have known the new owners for years, and they are friendly, honest and reliable, and they truly care about quality and value, as well as helping to maintain and restore our historic homes and businesses. They carry a limited stock, but if you plan ahead, they will order nearly anything you want at very reasonable prices. Highly recommended! read more

I would not recommend getting lumber from a lumber yard where the person helping you has to say "hmmm I'll give it to you for this price". It's a sure way to rip you off. I went on Thursday to pick out a slab of walnut for a table I'm building. I mentioned to the guy helping me that it was my first build of this type, his whole energy changed with me. He began to literally doubt that i could do this project! Me and my sister who was with me, were disgusted. I ended up leaving and going to another lumber yard and got a slab that looked just like the piece i wanted from Pasadena lumber but of course WAAAAAY cheaper. Like the price difference was huge from what he was trying to sell me at $250 i got for $140! I will never be going back here... jacked up prices and horrible customer service.. i left out so many parts of this bad experience but i will leave it at that. Sorry! read more

This place only has 15 reviews? They must all be from store owner family members or something hahaha :-) Here is my review. This place has one of the worst customer service ever. I have made a purchase here and I did get my items, but the problem is the customer service, it is just TERRIBLE. There is only ONE person helping customers at this facility, and this has nothing to do with COVID-19. There is only one girl (Monica) answering the phones and doing pretty much everything else. She says that she doesn't have time to do absolutely anything because she has to do "everything". Something is really wrong with this place. Every time I call to ask for material information Monica supposedly writes down the info but then she NEVER ever calls me back. She always said "yes I'll get back to you" but I have no clue what that means because that never happens. Is like she completely forgot about you or maybe she actually didn't write anything down and does not have my info or maybe she just doesn't give a damn, who knows. I have no clue how they sell and make any money. This store is completely disorganized. The answer must be that the owner cannot afford to hire a second person. I gave up and I no longer call or shop at this place. Is ridiculous. read more

Great local company that has far better prices than other local lumber yards...still not a competitor for the big box stores probably, but I suspect they may work with you on bigger orders. Support Local Businesses and buy lumber here! I bought a piece of specialty trim that only they had in stock (as found by the company's list of authorized retailers). It came in 16ft lengths but he was willing to sell me 8ft at the same price per foot which is awesome! And the price was actually much cheaper than the next closest authorized dealer (Ganahl). read more

BUYER EXTREME BEWARE: The owner of this business will overcharge, underdeliver, and blame you for all of it, call you names and insinuate you are trying to cheat him. If I could give this business no stars, I would. The only star worthy part of this business is Monica, and she's apparently not there anymore. I grew up right around the corner from this business, so when I had a project to do during quarantine, I decided I'd rather support a locally owned business over a big box store. I wish I could say I made the right choice, but I can't imagine a worse experience. After waiting 2 months for my items to be delivered, the owner Vincent claimed I was lying about my order, and decided he was not going to deliver my $800 worth of lumber. When he finally found my order in his system, after lying & claiming that he'd called his card processing company and they couldn't find my purchase even though I sent him a bank statement showing otherwise, he still took a week to deliver a *partial* delivery, told me how his lateness was my fault, and told me I owed him more money. When I asked him to explain the math, he called me a d**k, blamed me some more & blamed Monica (who's boyfriend apparent has Covid), so I just paid him the $200 more and he gave me a delivery date for the rest of the items, 2x8x12 pressure treated Douglas fir (so you're aware how basic my order was). When that day came he said he still didn't have my material. So for my now $1,000 I had received 5 sheets of plywood & 12 2x4x16s, over two months late. I decided to cancel the last part of my order, for a refund, since I could get the same material somewhere else far faster & far cheaper. According to the prices on my receipts, the materials I received cost $585 including tax and delivery. Vincent gave me a $150 refund. The way his current (non Monica) cashiers emailed me (when they werent ignoring me) and spoke about me (oh, I forgot to mention he left me an accidental voicemail where he & his morning cashier went back and forth strategizing how to get out of delivering my order), gave me the impression that what happened to me isn't an aberration, but probably the norm. read more

If I could give this place no stars, I would. I so wanted to do business with them instead of with freaking Home Depot but I guess, as a woman, I'm not welcome or valued as a customer. The guy asked me "Can I help you?". I told him what I needed and he says "Sure, just let me finish helping this other customer." I say sure no problem. Then a guy walks up behind me, the guy who works there says to him "Can I help you?" The guy tells him what he wants and the two of them go off together talking about the project. WTF!? Minus 1/4 star because of limited hours beyond 8-5. I tried this place because of dissatisfaction with large warehouse quality and selection and discovered 5 star quality and selection here. Service was very accommodating and the gentleman that runs the place is terrific; made accurate cuts to my specifications and loaded my vehicle without my asking. I was searching for clapboard to replace on my 1921 duplex. I emailed a couple of Westside specialty lumber stores and never got the courtesy of a reply. This place came up while I was searching Yelp and I gave them a call. Pedro coukd not have been nicer. He went to look for what I was searching for and quoted a price over the phone that was reasonable. I drove out and it's a great old fashioned lumber yard. Pedro had the stock and he trimmed off some split ends and helped me liar it into my car. He also gave me an even better price! I love this place but fair warning. I wanted help with a small building project and was looking for a smaller lumber yard; didn't want to go big box because I needed some help and attention. I looked on yelp and found a good review at this address but it was several years old. I drove over because it was convenient and found a large property with six different businesses. The lumber store sales person, Rafael, was super helpful and very honest. He walked me thru my project design, gave me the pros and cons of what I had planned, offered an alternative way to proceed, and was super respectful. He was cooperative with my timing and thru in some extras to be helpful. I highly recommend this lumber store. Other customers also were helpful and happy and had good things to say. read more

Not only did I get attention IMMEDIATELY, Pedro (the nicest guy ever!) helped me figure out what I needed, ordered it and brought it to my house. Walked in and ask if a custom job could be done. Provided the specs and requirements then given a quote. 20 min later, Pedro finished the job. Came home and installed it and it was perfect. Definitely will come back for any custom wood work. read more
