I have a terrible experience here with my filling done by dr. Alex. I came in here for a cleaning…read moreand was told I have a small cavity. This is also my very first cavity in all 24 years of my life and I trusted my dentist through the whole process. I had my one teeth filled and was experiencing pain and sensitivity but I waited about two weeks to see maybe if it's just my teeth trying to adjust. I made an appointment to go back and get it refilled and a second tooth next to the initial one had been drilled and filled without me knowing beforehand. I was never asked or told before the drilling that another teeth would have been touched in the process. I waited another two weeks after that, still pain and sensitivity. I cannot chew on anything on that side of my mouth. I cannot drink anything that is not room temperature without it triggering a sharp pain in my teeth. I went back again and a temporary filling was put it. Same ordeal, pain and sensitivity. Waited another two weeks and did a scan and was told I still had a bit of cavity that wasn't taken care of the very first time and was assured that this time for sure would be the last time I had to deal with this pain. So some more drilling was done and the temporary filling was put back in. AGAIN pain and sensitivity. I went back one last time and was told that maybe I was just allergic to the filling and a different filling was put in. Not only did it not help, I constantly feel like I have to grind my teeth now. This new filling also came with a lingering discomfort that has been causing me a headache. I will not be coming back here and I for sure do not recommend this place at all. Initially after the first filling was done, I had asked if I could please switch a dentist and I was denied that. This is obviously intentional negligence to not put into consideration what a patient is asking you. This experience is really traumatizing especially for what was told a small filling that took me 5 visits going back and forth. Please always ask for a second opinion about your cavities because this could literally be you. I really wish I have never had my teeth filled or step foot in this place. I can never rest or eat the same again and have to deal with this pain everyday. Please go somewhere else or avoid this place.

When I arrived I was greeted by Leslie she did see my appointment on the schedule. I showed her the email, she looked and saw my appointment request however; It was never actually booked by the manager. Leslie was so nice and very professional. She said she would talk to the doctor to see what can be done because she knew I was in pain. Dr. Dechavez of course accommodated me. I explained all my recent serious health issues that prevented me from seeking care sooner. He was so understanding and caring. Though he could not start the work yet as he had patients waiting. He made sure I was given an appointment to be seen during the week. Dr. Dechavez truly cares for his patients. He really is a superb doctor and most of all a decent human being with core values. I would not go anywhere else.

Everyone who works at the office is extremely friendly, the dental hygienists and doctors make an effort to get to know us and always ask how we've been since the last time we came in. I became a new patient at this dental clinic about 3-4 months ago after my insurance company…read morereferred me here as the closest in-network provider. My initial treatment was for a root canal, which ultimately ended in an extraction and bone graft. From the very beginning, communication has been a constant struggle. It is extremely difficult to get anyone on the phone, and when you do, you have to hope you've reached the "right side" of the clinic. Since the two offices share space, staff will not transfer your call if you reach the wrong department, instead, they tell you to hang up and call again. This has made even simple questions unnecessarily frustrating. Most recently, I had a follow-up appointment with the surgeon, who mentioned I might need another bone graft. He wanted the root canal specialist to review my x-rays to see if the tooth could be saved. I was told I would receive a call within two days with the specialist's opinion. That call never came. Since then, I've been calling two to three times a day, only to reach a full voicemail or no answer at all. The lack of communication and poor customer service has made me decide not to continue with this clinic. I had considered making them my primary dental care provider, but after this experience, I cannot recommend them.

Be sure to KNOW your doctor's name before your visit IF you are actually choosing to come to this…read moreoffice. I definitely recommend AVOIDING this place and going to another facility. Dr. Gavlin is NOT an endodontist and is posing as one. If you need an endodontist, make sure you are seeing Dr. Adam Hariri, Dr. Pardis Rajabi, or Dr. Steven Kale. I had a referral for an endodontist, and, thus, made an appointment with an endodontist. Upon visiting the office, Dr. Gavlin immediately told me I needed to extract my tooth and would need a bone and post and crown as well as some kind of membrane because my infected root canal had traveled to my sinus. I was given this opnion even BEFORE he saw a CT scan. I was told I needed a CT scan to see if my infection traveled to my sinus. I asked Dr. Gavlin about the alternative (which my dentist had informed me of: a root canal retreatment). My goal in seeing an endodontist was to save the tooth, not extract it. If I sought to extract it, I would've gone to a surgeon. Gavlin gave me the WORST case determination BEFORE even seeing a CT scan. I paid $350 for the CT scan, as I was told my insurance does not cover it. After seeing the CT scan, Dr. Gavlin still insisted the tooth need to be extracted, even after I insisted on a retreatment option, which he said was not an option. His office made me an appointment with their surgeon for extraction. Because he gave me a worst case determination before seeing the CT scan, I immediately did NOT trust Dr. Gavlin. With this, I researched him and learned of his fraudulent nature from the reviews (and later discovered that he was sued in 2020 by the Health Department and Medicaid and had to pay them back $21k). I then went to research the surgeon. I looked for his name on my appointment card, and upon looking for his name, I came across Dr. Gavlin's name. Dr. Gavlin is listed as a Myofascial Pain and Sleep Disorder doctor. With this, I called the office to ask WHY I was given an appointment with Dr. Gavlin who is NOT an endodontist, and I was told I could be given an appointment to see an actual endodontist. My question went unasnwered, so I asked again and I was told that I wads given the appointment with him because he is the owner! I made the appointment with the actual endodontist, Dr. Adam Hariri, so that I could get an actual opinion, but more importantly, so that I could retrieve a copy of my CT scan and X-rays. I asked Dr. Hariri if Dr. Gavlin is an endodontist, and I was told no. I informed Dr. Hariri of my experience and told him I would listen to his opinion but that ultimately I would be wanting a copy of my CT scan so that I can go elsewhere, as my trust in their facility had been violated by my experience with Dr. Gavlin. Dr. Hariri informed me that retreatment was possible and apologized as I had been given "the runaround." I have no complaints about Dr. Hariri. I visited another endodontist, Dr. Ryan at Island Dental Associates in Franklin Square NY, who also informed me that retreatment is an option and said that the infection had NOT spread to my sinus. I submitted my complaint to my insurance provider as well as to the NYS Dental Association (LIntrieri@nysdental.org). The NYS Dental Association responded: "We found that Dr. David Gavlin is not a current tripartite member with the American Dental Association (ADA), the New York State Dental Association (NYSDA) or their local dental society. Membership with the Association is voluntary and is not a requirement to be a licensed dentist in New York State. To discuss your complaint further, please contact the New York State Education Department's Office of Professional Discipline at 800-442-8106 or conduct@nysed.org." I thus, also sent my complaint to the NYS Education Department (conduct@nysed.gov). I also reached out to multiple lawyers about Personal Injury but was unsuccessful as I had not sustained physical injury. I was informed that I should look into small claims court to sue for my "Pain and suffering' for my time lost and mental strain my experience had caused. Here is the link to the 2020 case: https://www.health.ny.gov/health_care/medicaid/decisions/docs/gavlin_dds_04-20-2020.pdf

With one of the crown moldings, it came out too short so she redid it and made sure Id be happy with it (which of course I am). Also, all the secretary are friendly and welcoming!
