I am updating my review as per my recent experience. I made an appointment through their website for this past Saturday. When I arrived I was greeted by Leslie she did see my appointment on the schedule. I showed her the email, she looked and saw my appointment request however; It was never actually booked by the manager. Leslie was so nice and very professional. She said she would talk to the doctor to see what can be done because she knew I was in pain. Dr. Dechavez of course accommodated me. I explained all my recent serious health issues that prevented me from seeking care sooner. He was so understanding and caring. Though he could not start the work yet as he had patients waiting. He made sure I was given an appointment to be seen during the week. Dr. Dechavez truly cares for his patients. He really is a superb doctor and most of all a decent human being with core values. I would not go anywhere else. read more

My partner and I have been patients at Dr. Gil's office for about two years now - we've had nothing short of a wonderful experience. Everyone who works at the office is extremely friendly, the dental hygienists and doctors make an effort to get to know us and always ask how we've been since the last time we came in. Folks at the office are informative about how to maintain good dental hygiene and are always transparent about costs (if any), I know we're always in good hands when we come in. :) Bonus points for the goodie bags they give us after every appointment & all the jokes and good conversations we have! read more

This place is amazing! To start it off, I am not a dentist person, and I always dislike visiting dental offices. When I was growing up, just hearing the drills from the waiting room gives me goosebumps. However, this place is not crowded and messy like other dental offices. The dentist is very caring and precise when giving details about my tooth. He took his time to put effort into the procedure unlike others who just perform quick services to patients. They don't take my insurance but it's worth every dollar spent. read more

BEWARE! Billing was terrible! I had composite bonding done on Aug 29,2019 and despite having a predetermination from my insurance, they still charged me $948.60 and said I still have a balance of $2k+. On my predetermination, it says: Submitted charge: $2,530 Considered charge: $1,438 (he's an in-network dentist) Covered charge: $1,438 Benefit amount: $1,110.4 Sept. 6,2019. I went to their office and brought my predetermination papers from insurance. The lady on the front desk kept insisting to me that the amount i have to pay is the benefit amount, which is $1,110.4, but upon confirming with my insurance, the only amount that i have to pay is the difference between the covered charge ($1,438) and the benefit amount ($1,110.4) which is a total of $327.60. It's either they don't know what they're doing or they do and they just try to mislead people and overcharge them. AND, also they sent another predetermination to my insurance for a bridge and crown w/o even discussing it to me. And btw, it was already done by a different dentist months before so i dont know what they're trying to do here. I'm just waiting for an EOB from my insurance and I'm gonna demand for a refund for the amount they overcharged me. This office either needs to hire knowledgeable staff or just stop ripping people off! read more

Where do I start, from the receptionist to the dental hygienist to the doctor 5 stars to all. Front desk was super friendly and I was called in a timely manner. The dental hygienist was sweet and ver knowledgeable. It was literally the best cleaning of my life and I'm 36. She took her time and made sure each and every tooth was scraped, buffed and shined. She even flossed (not the dance actual floss lol) me at the end lol. It was the really nice to have someone take the care she did to make sure it was all clean. The doctor is sweet family man so friendly and overall nice person. Did a quality check at the end and provided some information on possible work I've been looking to get done. I 3000% recommend this place to all they even took care of my 5 year old no tears and they were extra sweet with her. Thank you so much to you all keep up great work!!! read more

I had a cleaning today. I'm not good at remembering names, but the filipino dental hygienists who take care of me was just excellent! I learned a lot from her. She taught me how to properly take care of my teeth. There are no other words that I could describe her but excellent, excellent and excellent! I only saw Dr Echavez for likely 5 minutes, he just examined me and never really got the chance to have any work done. But, I would highly recommend this place, they're very clean and they're top of the line ...I just wish I discovered this place earlier. read more

we've been patient of Dr. Dechavez for a while, but one time the front desk billed us ridiculous amount for brace and some other stuff, the surprising bill after the work was done, six months after, the secretary send me a bill of over $2,000 for she claimed my insurance didn't cover while before the procedure, we had predetermined amount to pay. the clerk persistently billing me, but since l don't have time coz l was very busy to call my insurance, l just agreed to pay them in payments using their own recommended credit card company, but after that, me and my friend's family completely stopped coming to Dr. Gil Dechaves. this is a rip off, no doubt. How can they agree with us to pay a predetermined amount and later on bill me coz they said, my insurance they cover for something else when we have agreed to pay certain co pay already! The Dr is good, an excellent Doctor, but I'm not sure, the clerk is not good in keeping the deal or she dont understand what she's doing. l could recommend this dentistry to more family friends, but with our experience, l stopped the recommendations. Gil has been my dentist for the past 5 years and unfortunately, recently I found out he isn't in my current network of insurance. so sadly I have to find a new dentist. If you live in the neighborhood, do not hesitate to make an appointment with him! He makes his patients feel like home and is SUPER DUPER attentive. He fixed a chip in my front tooth a couple of years ago, the job was so well done I couldn't even believe that my tooth was chipped before. Anyway, I'm sad he won't be my dentist anymore :( but if I ever change my insurance again I'll def go back to him! read more

After reading all the great reviews, I decided to schedule an appointment with Dr. Dechavez and I was not disappointed. It was a great experience from the get go. From the first call, I had a great experience. The office manager was super friendly and professional. She answered all my insurance questions and was able to fit me in the same day! Once I arrived, I noticed that the office was nice and clean. The office staff were all friendly and everyone greeted me with a smile. The dental hygienists was gentle, informative, and engaging. Dr. Dechavez was excellent and also very personable. He helped to fix my problem in record time and I was very very pleased with the results. Overall, my experience was a great one. I full heartedly recommend Dr. Dechavez and his staff to everyone! (One suggestion would be to replace the waiting area chairs. Some seats were worn out and were not comfortable to sit on.) read more

best experience with a dentist... ever! I started seeing Dr Dechavez at the beginning of august because i had a tooth ache. So i've been seeing him weekly to get my procedures done (deep cleaning, root canal, and some fillings ). I know my mouth was jacked up, but it's all about getting it taken care of ;) It's so convenient for me to get there from work in manhattan because it's right off the R train. it's a shorter trip for me than actually staying in manhattan. Never a long wait for my appointment and everyone there is so super nice. He's very very knowledgeable and I highly recommend him - you won't be disappointed. Great, friendly neighborhood dentist. Accepts wide range of insurances and is on ZocDoc so you can easily book appointments online and fill out patient forms ahead of time. This helps save waiting time when you arrive. I had an 10am appt and was seen within 10 mins. Routine cleaning done by the hygenist and then Dr Dechavez comes in and does the final examination. I needed to get an onlay replaced as well and was accomodated with a same day appointment. I remember that it took two visits to get the procedure done with my previous dentist but Dr Dechavez uses modern technology (3D imaging) and was able to create the onlay within 15 mins thus was able to finish the job in a single visit. Total time spent approximately an hour. Dr Dechavez and his staff provide great overall service, are friendly to patients and do not overbook so you'll be in and out of there in no time. Would highly recommend this dentist office if you live in the Elmhurst area. read more

Dr. Gil is without a doubt the best dentist I have ever had. His knowledge is deeper and broader than most dentists, because he worked making bridges and dentures before he became a dentist. He also worked in an extremely fancy (and expensive) dental office in Manhattan before settling down in Elmhurst for good. He is completely up to date technically and his office is fully equipped with modern dental equipment. Not only does he know what he's doing, he is very careful and patient about explaining exactly what he's doing and why. He is always in a good mood. He has a great sense of humor. His fees are extremely reasonable. And all of his staff is friendly and efficient. It is fast and easy to get to his office from Manhattan: E or F to Roosevelt Ave, then 2 stops on the M or R. I recommend him to everyone I know because he is absolutely the best. read more

God bless this man and his practice. He was like an angel from heaven on what felt like an extremely scary situation for me. I had a crazy pain in my upper jaw the evening before and since I never experienced anything like that I was just scared that something was wrong in the worst way. I was able to get an appointment the very next day around noon. 1-2-3! They assessed the problem and got right to business to help me. What matters most was their kindness, gentleness and hospitality. I think the cost is reasonable as well. It was okay. I spent more time with the dental hygienist than the dentist. I asked to see the dentist three times before he showed up .

My old filling came off and started to bother me with sensitivity and a slight pain, our union dentist will take full day inside waiting room for emergency pain so I decided to start Yelping and browse for dentist around my neighborhood. After I read few review from other Yelpers I decided going to Dr Dechavez made appointment thru ZocDoc (fast and easy). Cut the story short appointment at 9:00am and was called to get X-ray at 9:07am 3 minutes later he is already working with my teeth. (It was painless in my opinion, this Doctor know how, my case was small dentures fix and I don't get bruises at all) this is the most comfortable experience. 20-25 minutes later its all set and I'm going home with happy smile again. His office is easy to get to from Manhattan and his staff was helpful in giving me directions. A beautiful office. If you want a thorough dental check up this is the place to go. You get the full dental cleaning for cheap $79 and Dr. De Chavez gives a full dental assessment. Just great doctor and clinic is very clean. Nice staff too. read more
