This review is way overdue. I highly recommend Alex for couples counseling. He literally saved our…read morerelationship. Before we met Alex, we were 5 years into our relationship and starting to struggle with very difficult situations that were pulling us apart. These were made worse with our opposing introvert/extrovert needs. Neither of us had strong role models in our family for successful relationships, and we were at a turning point. We were very serious about who we chose to help us. All of the therapists we interviewed before Alex had somewhat of a cookie-cutting approach to couples therapy. We felt that we could've gotten some of their info from reading a book. However from the first time we spoke with Alex, it was easy for us to agree that he was the right therapist for us. Alex treated us as individual people and an individual couple. His approach is empathetic, thoughtful, and calm. He pays attention to every detail and is tactful in all of his communication. You will see this starting from his intake form. In our sessions, he gave equal time to both of us. We did many session exercises to become aware of our individual needs. Many of the revelations surprised us and without his help, I'm not sure we would have ever discovered on our own. And he was exceptionally skilled in guiding us through difficult discussions. We were able to share scary thoughts, sometimes laughter, and sometimes tears (mostly I cried) as we became closer and more connected to each other, in each session and afterwards. My partner and I also made notes after each session, because we're both nerdy...but more importantly because we knew the information we had learned was gold. After a few months of weekly sessions, Alex told us we had made enough progress that it wasn't necessary to see him weekly anymore. But to instead, use the information we learned and schedule sessions only as needed. Today (almost 2 years later), we haven't had another session and we continue to use the tools and techniques he taught us. We are so much happier from this entire experience. We can communicate better, disagree without fighting, fight without yelling, share our love for each other in ways that the other needs and understands, and receive it in return. If you're on the fence about couples counseling, don't be. With the right therapist like Alex, and a willingness to learn, you can re-understand how to love, connect, and communicate. He is a true professional. Thank you Alex.

I first started coming to Andy close to two years ago. After a few attempts in my past that either…read moredid not match for me, or I was not ready for, I didn't have much hope therapy could work for me specifically. Working with Andy has changed my life. I came to him with a specific goal to work on. I never realized with time, so much more would be revealed. Andy sets the stage of feeling safe to share, asks permission on your comfort levels, and gives sound reflection and advice to help achieve a greater self awareness. With Andy's help so much trauma was released. I went from being attracted to unhealthy situations, and thought peace and good things were boring. I wanted my life to be better and healthier, but I'd only known unhealthy ways of thinking and action to be of comfort. That kind of way of life was really self destruction. Now I appreciate and love myself, life, and others in a way that I never was able to before or even realized. I have found a strength and control in myself I did not think or know I could have. Andy is calm, caring, loving, professional and has been a key factor in my recovery in so many facets of life. He has helped me discover new joys and helped me to reveal why toxicity for so many years felt comforting and natural. This helped me realize it was not giving me life, but taking it. Through Andy I realized that wasn't life at all. It's been amazing for me to see and feel this journey with Andy. Who I was then to who I am now. It truly feels sometimes like a different person. How I handle and embrace life situations and feelings that I never did before. I know now I have the strength to experience these things, but I have control of my life in knowing my triggers and boundaries. I used to be a "never me" or expiration date kind of person when thinking of therapy. Committing to things, even for my own health, felt strange if it was something I wasn't already familiar with. Before, I never wanted to commit to something for too long or without some safety of knowing when something was going to end. Health and discovering yourself/loving yourself doesn't work like that. Now, I can't imagine my life without therapy. Therapy changed my life. It saved the good in me and brought out new joys I never knew could exist. I think of Andy as a phenomenal therapist, teacher, confidante, and friend. It might have taken a few tries but I'm so unimaginably grateful life brought me to Andy. He is one of the greatest healers and therapists I've ever known. If you are wondering if this is for you... my advice? Give it a shot. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Remember therapy takes time. It isn't an overnight thing because you have so much of your own story to share and learn about yourself. Be kind and patient with yourself and therapy. Give yourself this gift by giving yourself time with a professional to help you. You'll be shocked how much you see and especially, feel a change before you know it. Thank you Andy for all you do!!

I heard a couple i referred once say, "Todd showed us how to turn our difficult conversations from a fight into a place with more understanding where we are able to really listen and be heard by one another." Todd cares for his people. He helps improve self-esteem and enhances healthy communication. He helps his couples experience love for themselves and those around them in new and profound ways. As a counselor myself, I believe I know when I see productive, helpful and innovative work being done for people's well-being. In the years I have known Todd, I have been continually impressed by his knack for connecting to clients, exploring with them the aspects of their relationships, and helping them transform the culture of their relationship. Todd does this from a deep respect and belief in his clients' ability, as well as in his skills and a licensed MFT and EMDR practitioner. He works from an EFT (Emotion Focused couples Therapy) game-plan. Todd has also led groups for couples in the East Bay, which was based on a curriculum for success he co-created. It is with my full professional support that I recommend Todd to YOU, for your needs, wants and desires for a better quality life as designed through improving your relationships with yourself and others. Give him a call (what's the harm : ) and talk to him. I'm confident you will benefit from the sensitivity and professionalism he offers. Jeff

Todd has an incredibly strong sense of empathy for his clients. He's also extremely flexible - I have met him at times that work for me, and he has been accommodating in many ways to make sure I could keep my appointments over the last 2 years. Finally, his work is focused on lasting change. By investing in our relationship, I was able to get a significant amount of personal growth, improve my relationships with the people who are important to me, and transition successfully from a very difficult time in my life. Based on my personal experience over the last two years, I really cannot recommend him enough.
