Breakfast is good but they don't replenish the continental portion if you come later in the day, FYI. The room was gorgeous and fairly clean, with the exception of a few details. I think it's odd hotels don't clean the top décor blanket on the bed. I had to strip that immediately as there was what looked to be pepperoni pizza mushed into it. Very large and noticeable by the way. The drapes were also covered in schmutz, so the luxury level kind of drops when you see things like this. We got a junior suite and the room was very large with an incredible view of the harbor. I mean the view alone was worth the money. The bathroom however, was not large. All the reviews I read said the bathrooms are big and great. Mine was not. It was cramped and the door to the shower made no sense at all. My 5'2" 120 pound mother would have a hard time entering this shower. It feels super gross to wash yourself and then have to rub your body against a wall to get out of the shower. Also, another thing people really seem to fail to mention is that this hotel had NO air conditioning. I read a lot of reviews before I stay at a place and was shocked that people don't mention it. There is a small fan in the closet though and you can get ice from the bar to makeshift your own a/c.

Our room looked right out into the water. Also, I liked that the house was somewhat removed from the busyness of the main town area. However, the room itself was tiny, including the bathroom. There is really not enough room for two people. And they filled up one of the nightstands with a gratuitous coffee and water service, which basically made that nightstand useless in terms of a place to put your stuff. One of our lights wasn't working, the shower doors don't seal, so water sprays out onto the bathroom floor. Also there was some liquid hand soap in the bathroom that had a really strong and nauseating smell every time I washed my hands. The walls are also super thin so that you can hear all the noise from the hallway and the rooms adjacent. We were located next to a gentlemen's who seemed to have emphysema; he was coughing all night and in the morning like no ones business. He also seemed to be opening and closing the noisy shower door right behind our bed every 5 seconds. Breakfast was weird. First the dining Room was way too cramped with tables (that were a little too small) and people. It was hard to get to and from the buffet table, and multiple trips to the buffet were necessary because they didn't really have adequate tableware available at the buffet for everything. For example, they didn't have any cups to carry milk back to the table or any small dishes to hold jam for your toast. Basically, you have to go back to your table to get a serving vessel and bring it back to the buffet to put stuff in it. This probably wouldn't have been so annoying if the room weren't so cramped, making it an ordeal to get from one end of the room to the other. Anyway, it was okay for one but I'm glad I didn't have to stay there longer.

Then as they left, he showed perfect comic timing - just as the glass door was shutting on our departing friend, whiskey loving Paul, Colin said, "now would you care for a welcoming dram of whiskey?" the look on Paul's face through the glass was perfect - sad hungry puppy face. Colin laughed and so did we. Only one thing I would do differently - make sure you get one of the rooms with a sea view. Worth the cost I think. Breakfast was great with a few choices besides the standard full Scottish. We had pancakes with yogurt and fruit and it was great. The house is close enough for walking, but far enough to be quiet. You can walk out the door and across the road to sit on the esplanade by the bay.

Silly Goose is located in the Lime Tree Inn and it's pure perfection! We were greeted kindly and welcomed into the cozy dining space. Spacious but very romantic. We started with drinks enjoying local gin and whiskey. My husband got to try the Sassenach that he'd been eyeing! For dinner, we got the ribeye and chicken. We were so impressed with how well these were cooked. So soft and moist! We were too full for dessert but they had a nice menu of options. The restaurant is spectacular and worth the visit if you are in the area. Be sure to make a reservation as they did have to turn folks away!

Dinner was especially impressive with upscale playing and exquisite entrees and desserts. All the staff we encountered were helpful, patient and kind.

Breakfast is a generous offering with plenty of sweet and savory dishes - plus haggis and black pudding for those brave enough to try! Rooms are well sized and comfortable. Bathrooms have built in towel warmers - a nice feature. This property sets itself apart by being modern enough yet maintaining its character and showcasing the natural beauty of the outdoors. If my travels bring me back to this area of Scotland in the future, I definitely hope to return to Isles of Glencoe for another stay.

The table next to us sat down 10 minutes AFTER us and ordered the same appetizers (steamed mussels), and got their food in less than 10 minutes. Another 15 minute wait and we had to ask about our appetizers before they came out. Mussels were EXCELLENT, which is the only reason this isn't a 1 star rating. My wife had the trout, which she loved. I ordered the duck breast, which the waiter emphasized would come out "red" which is very much how I like it. The duck was grey. Good flavor, but very tough and dry. The vegetables and barley were quite tasty, but the duck was a disappointment. After dinner, we passed on dessert, but I wanted to order a whiskey. The waiter seemed quite flustered, and said, "If you order whiskey from me, I'll have to go to the bar to get it, so better if you just pay your bill and order from the bar yourself." I told him then that the service had been "terrible" and he said, "I know." and walked off. We won't be eating here our second night, despite very few options in the Glencoe area. It is not cheap, but good value for money if you want to push the boat out a bit for a special break away.

I got up at 8:00, had breakfast and came back to my room, to see the towels all removed and the bed made up anew already, whit all my stuff taken off the bed and put back on, while I was checking out! And I still had my teeth to brush. We're talking 8:45 AM! At checking out and complaining about this I was told that rooms are done during breakfast, because the laundry is picked up early! I could've hanged a label at my door had I didn't want this. Are you kidding me?! You have your guests treated like that because of your supplier!??
