They gave us a history of the property, answered any questions we had about the process of the wine making, and checked in on us multiple times. Keeping the good vibes going! They have 12 drinks to try; 10 wines and two ciders, and sampling can be done various ways. You can purchase three tastings for $8, purchase by the glass or by the bottle. Additionally they have both a nonalcoholic and slushes with alcohol. Which was pretty sweet and refreshing on a hot day and already has us craving another one. Oh can't forget they also have some delectable ice cream bar flavors like strawberry lemon cake! I sampled all of the wines and two ciders. My favorite wines were the Itasca, Petite Peal, and Chambourcin. The Chambourcin reminds me of a flat version of the sparkling red they serve at Domaine Chandon, so I picked up a bottle to bring back home to a friend in California. I recommend paying for the charcuterie board as well as it pairs nicely with the wines. The cheeses, fruit and olives were all fresh and tasted great. They have a kids and senior rate. They have a nice waiting area with bag toss, picnic tables and large connect Four. I love the little placards at each hole telling about the ludington landmarks. Also since this is a Jaycee run place, they give a lot of money to support the community. I love this place and we try to bring our family here every year when we're in town. It all started on a smoky, 87 degree Saturday in July when our camping plans got a rain check and we were open for a good time. Big Mini Putt Club was initially discussed but nixed because we weren't feeling the downtown vibe or $12 a person/9 holes. Then, we looked up AJ's mini golf but they had a private event scheduled. Yelp suggested Double Dip and after one ring, the employee on the telephone sold us with $3.50/person for 18 holes and recommended we come before 7p (thanks for the tip!). We parked, watched the first half of England vs. France at Walker Roadhouse and walked right over to the Depot. The course was perfect (no waiting around and lots of shade) for our 4 year old who got her first hole in one on the 15th! The ice cream/cone of ice came out quick (no line either) at 6:30p and we had our choice of picnic tables with umbrellas to enjoy. Overall, great family date night! We rarely frequent the west side, besides for the zoo, but will have to plan another trip before the summer ends. Sorry Frosty Boy - we'll see you soon (probably tomorrow) and congrats on winning Best of the West!

We spent $255 to spend the night at the Loft Hotel, continental breakfast for four, and TWO days of water park access. The lodging felt very "old school" motel where you walk around outside, open the door with your key and it opens up to a room filled with two standard beds, a dresser with a TV standing on top, a sink and mirror, and through the door a bath/ shower combo with the toilet. Our room was unique in that it had a door connecting to another room. We locked it. The people that occupied it, we could hear them talk, cough, sneeze, fart, and anything else people do. Maybe next time we might spring for the thourghbred suites for the extra $20. Much more space and privacy. We let our penny pinching personalities betray us with that decision. The lofts sit on a high hill with many stairs to negotiate. There is ONE handicap spot, but some steps and slippery areas still need be negotiated. Please be aware of that. Also, be aware that check-in takes forever. It took at least 20 minutes and only two people were ahead of us. Sign waivers ahead of time to speed up this already painfully slow process. The water park was overall fun. Again, the staff were friendly and helpful. The biggest complaint were the new floors. Though pretty, they were extremely slippery when wet and both my children fell, scraped their skin, and bumped their heads. I witnessed this also happen to an adult and another child while we were playing with the kids. One of my kids had to be patched up by the staff because he was bleeding. They were apologetic, they had caution when wet signs, and a few people were dedicated to squeegeeing up access water to avoid a more dangerous kind of spill. If you come, make sure to walk slowly. I'm not kidding. Also, bring your own towels or be prepared to purchase them once you're there. Aside from the floor problem, the space was impressive. They had about 5 water slides up and running. Most took a single or double tube, but one fit our whole 4 person family. That was fun. They also have a splash pad for little kids, a fun lazy River loop, a sports section with volleyball, basketball and leap frog onto the pads with a rope. My favorite part was the indoor/ outdoor hot tub. Pretty crowded Friday night, but open. Saturday they had to close it after a child threw up in it. I'm happy we chose to go Friday night rather than Saturday, because it was uncomfortably crowded on Saturday. I guess everyone in the area had the same idea as us. We decided not to pay extra for the tubing hill, even though we woke up to fresh powder. The kids were sick of the cold. We sprung to pay extra and play some black light mini golf. The course was surprisingly fun and well laid out with interesting holes that wind behind and look out from above at the water park. We even got to see some people screaming down a slide. It was really cool. My favorite hole was the one that reminded me of the game plink-o. It was worth the money. Breakfast was in an impressive room at the saloon restaurant. Again, some of the staff were amazing, especially the cook who constantly was restocking the serve yourself hot breakfast items. You have a choice of someone serving you orange juice or water and they come around with coffee. The breakfast had an assortment of meats, French toast, cereals, yogurt, and bagel/ muffins. Everything was sufficient. After we checked out and had our fill at the water park. We packed up the car and drove to the back forty acres of this property. What a neat spot! Full of cabins, a western looking set up filled with shops, outdoor water slides, an area where you can horseback ride and an outdoor park to name a few things. That could be a fun summer place to discover. Overall, a few hiccups, but happy we discovered and enjoyed our stay at Double JJ Resort. I feel like it needs at least one more visit to experience everything it has to offer.

My family and I camped at Double JJ Resort 11 yrs ago and although it wasn't a great experience due…read moreto staffing issues, we decided to drive the 3+ hours and try again because our granddaughter enjoyed the barn and animals so much. We now have 4 young grandsons and I am sure they would have enjoyed the animals just as much! The donkey, AJ, was our favorite, but the two bulls and rabbits were a hit too! When my adult son called to make our reservations for Aug 6-9, 2026 he specifically asked about the animals and AJ. He was transferred to the equestrian manager who informed him that AJ had sadly passed since our last visit but that there were two new donkeys for us to meet there. We could hardly wait! The boys were so excited!! You can imagine all of our surprise and the children's and my disappointment when we walked from the back of the campground all the way to the barn (prob over a 1/2 mile) just to find the barn locked up tight and no animals anywhere other than the horses they use for offering paid horseback riding. They have gotten rid of all of the animals, which in my opinion was a huge mistake. Next we headed to the playground, which is situated between the little town area & the campground. That was disappointment number 2. The wooden structures are unsafe and not maintained. There was a hole in floor of the large play wagon and exposed deck screws. For reference, we were on lots 54 & 55, in the back of the campground by the cabins. The bathhouse, which contains a men's bathroom, a women's bathroom, a small family bathroom and 4 shower stalls for everyone to share, are at the front of the campground. It's a long walk from the back to the front if you have a bad back and are older or for a 2 1/2 yr old. There are 2 soap dispensers in both the men's and women's bathrooms. The dispensers closest to the doors were empty our entire stay. Three out of 5 of the stalls in the ladies bathroom had doors with latches that don't line up making it impossible to latch/lock the door. There wasnt any toilet paper in 2 of the stalls until after a man named, I believe he said, Dalton locked down the entire bathhouse building from prior to 9a - 5:30p to power wash. Which meant we couldn't use the toilet when we woke up, couldn't brush our teeth & couldn't shower. There were 10 of us, including 4 children 9 and under. There are wooden doors on the stalls, aluminum walls inside the stalls and across from the stalls are sinks, mirrors,2 soap dispensers, one hand dryer and several electrical outlets and small, rectangular windows above the mirrors. What exactly did he powerwash for over 5 1/2 hours!? I banged on the door after 3 hours and got the man's attention, he informed me that his supervisor told him he HAD to do it. I took pictures of parts of the bathhouse after he left. Part of the wall is buckling away the bottom right, on the wall with the shower head, and is pulled away a few inches. In another shower, the shower head is caked with filth, rust and iron deposit and part of the wall is missing by the handle to turn the water on. I called the front reception desk twice while the guy was power washing and spoke to Madison about it. She said it's the responsibility of the housekeeping manager, Roxy. We then decided to try and turn the day around and take the children to the indoor waterpark. I stopped at the front desk and spoke to Madison again about the inconvenience of having the only bathhouse within the campgrounds closed for over 5 1/2 hours, before purchasing our tickets into the indoor waterpark, and she said she emailed the housekeeping manager, Roxy, and hadn't received a reply. I then asked to speak to Madison's manager. She went into the office and came back a couple of minutes later and informed me that it isn't his department and therefore he was unwilling to speak with me. We purchased the tickets,, spending over $200 & the two hot tubs had broken jets. The elevator was unusable. The adult only hot tub barely had enough water to cover the top jets and was filthy. Broken lounge chair almost caused a fall. Elevator was unusable to get down to the waterpark area and back up. A man working in the stables at the campground stormed out of the barn and across the paddock at us, including 4 young boys aged 9-2 1/2, hollering at us to leave. We were just standing by the fence, which includes electric fencing for safety reasons, looking at the huge, beautiful horses and taking pictures. Apparently that isn't allowed. Save yourself a lot of disappointment and potentially an injury and do not camp at this resort or visit their indoor waterpark. Nothing is maintained properly and the staff is of no assistance whatsoever. The photos I am trying to include of the broken playground equipment, the filthy hot tub, rust covered showerhead, missing wall piece in the shower, etc ... won't up load for some reason.
