I brought them all the paperwork they needed and updated them on my job and my hours and they have consistently screwed me over. why would I go through the trouble of signing up for cash assistance and food stamps if I was only going to be getting 12 dollars a month. also every time I go there I have to wait in line for three or four hours sometimes with my young son and it can get very exhausting and frustrating and you don't even end up getting the help you need. I am a single mom.I am working as hard as I can to provide for my son.they wrote in the letter that it was their fault. that they miscalculated it and overpaid me. anybody have any suggestions on what I should do,I really do not have the money to pay that back and if I did not have that $300 a month I wouldn't have made it through the winter.

A post card was mailed with instructions to complete and online survey. Got an immediate notification that I was selected (woo-hoo!?) followed by a letter about a week later with date and time to appear for Grand Jury service. The Grand Jury meets once a week on Tuesdays and jurors must be available for a three month commitment. You find out if you are either a juror or alternate on day one and the date when your three months are completed. Jurors receive an email with which dates you will be needed. They pay $25 for each day you serve. Alternates only serve if a juror is dismissed. It was a very interesting process on day one. Bags are scanned and you walk through a metal detector. The check-in office is straight ahead and turn left. There are signs. Present your paperwork and ID and once you sign in have a seat in the next room. They had HGTV on and even though signs say to turn off your cell phone, everyone was using them. The Grand Jury does not hear trials, they hear evidence and vote on whether there is enough to go to trial. It's an interesting process of hearing state evidence and you can ask the witness(es) questions. So that's different. Of the 23 jurors, only a dozen have to vote in favor of moving forward to trial unlike at trial where everyone must agree. We were in and out in about two hours on day one. Court days you show up before 9:30 and leave nlt 4pm. There is a cafeteria and restroom on the ground floor. Court rooms are on upper floors. Free parking in garage behind the building or call to get a bus pass. Now you know.

I went in and you get scanned as well as your purse or bag. You then need to provide your driver's license, so they can generate a visitor's pass. After that I headed to the Tax office, where I got a number. Within a few minutes a nice guy came and helped me with my request. He was patient, professional and explained every detail very clearly. The first step to changing your name (in my case, marriage) is to first change with Social Security, in person. When I discovered that you can go to any office in the state, I decided to give Pawtucket a try just after they opened at 9, fearing the worst and clearing my calendar of obligations for the morning. It looks like I imagine the Social Security Office where Carol, Marcia, Jan and Cindy might have walked into when they changed their name to Brady. There was only one person in front of me, and then I sashayed up with my documents, slid them under the glass, and DONE in 10 minutes.

About a year ago I submitted a 3 week hold mail request. The mail was redelivered a week early-…read moreleft on my porch with the hold mail slip with the correct resume mail date right on the top of the pile. Luckily, a neighbor noticed the pile and retrieved it before it got soaked. I recently had my mail held for two weeks. When service had resumed but I had only received 4 pieces of mail I went to the post office to pick up the rest. The female clerk on the desk on 2/27 handed me a loose pile of mail. When I started to go through it I realized that I had at least 25 pieces of mail belonging to 3 different Portsmouth residents who lived at different addresses- credit card and bank statements, letters from health insurers, etc. In the middle of this pile I found a hold mail slip for one of these residents who was not due to return for another 2 weeks! If my two experiences with this post office are an example of how their operations are being run, it appears that some significant changes need to be made.

I recently completed a Citizens Police Academy here and even with the strong background I have it still was a refreshing experience. The few bad apples really tarnish what is a 99% good people. I would encourage anyone even those that are anti-police to attend their next academy, and see what steps and practices they employ to help eliminate bias and discrimination before and during their time within the job. The academy as a whole is a truly enlightening experience.
