What a great place to stop between Sisters and Bend. We have purchased several of their products since we discovered them several years ago. The location is just off the highway in a nice open field sitting right next to the view of the cascade mountains. You can enjoy Three Sisters, Three Fingered Jack, Jefferson, Hood and even Adams in Washington. We were greeted immediately after entering and the employees are super friendly and engaging. We decided to sit outside and enjoy the view with an Aged Flight and a couple of cocktails. This is a must stop for sure. Side note there is an area for dogs to run fenced in and some chickens to enjoy out front. read more

Mini cocktails? Yes! What a great way to try some of their spirits in a smaller sized cocktail! They were $5 for a 5-6 oz cocktails with about an ounce of their distilled booze in it. They have gin, vodka and rye whiskey. Different flavors with it too. I had a "Tootsie roll" ; rye whiskey, chocolate, cream. Yumm. Tasting room was ok, not busy. Easy to miss on the way from Sunriver to Bend but worth a quick stop. They sell the booze by the bottle too of course. read more

This was a great spot to sample some locally made spirits. The tasting room was tastefully decorated and the patio was adorned with hanging baskets and their were misters running. Although today while we were there a massive amount of brushfire smoke inundated the outside patio!! The service was superb and our barmaid was very knowledgeable and super friendly. There was samples available of their spirits and they also had CBD and MCT products available, that they also offered samples of. The CBD products also consisted of CBD infused sparkling waters that were available to sample. Part of the tasting room consisted of a gift shop with some souvenir merchandise as well as the CBD products and several customer tables. The other half included a bar and several customer tables. The drink menu was quite extensive and the drinks were smaller than a full size bar cocktail but very delicious and well prepared. Great prices also $6 per cocktail I would definitely go back and try several more of the different cocktails. read more

I've been trying to go for the past 2 years and finally my other half took me for my birthday! Walked in and there's a cute indoor seating area. You also have the option to sit outside on the patio looking into the distillery and grass area. I think they were short staffed but the lady that helped us was super nice and friendly. There were no food options to order but you are allowed to bring outside food in. Cute place, many different drinks to try including cocktails, give it a "shot!" Cheers! read more

1st time visiting a distillery, but I've had many of the crater lake brand liquors so I had to stop by. Located a outside of the downtown bend area, this place has an amazing view of the mountains while you tour the distillery and try samples. By the way, the flight of 6 samples is free as of now at this location. Such a great value, my favorite was the hazelnut espresso. After your flight, indulge in some mini cocktails that showcase some of the great flavors of their liquor. I could have stayed there all day, sipping on cocktails and enjoying the view but I had so many other places on the itinerary. Will be back the next time I'm in bend. read more

We love stopping by Bendistillery, now known as Crater Lake Spirits, whenever we drive through Bend. Their gin, vodka and hazelnut spirits are staples in our bar. On our most recent trip, we stopped by and sampled some other flavors and had a lovely visit. We ended up downtown Bend at their tasting room and an important distinction should be made: It appears that the tasting at the Pinehurst Road location is free, but the tasting at the downtown location is not free. (More on that in my review of that particular location which I did not love as much...) So it's definitely worth a stop at this location for some yummy tasters, mini cocktails and breathtaking views of the Three Sisters. read more

This was one of the highlights of my recent 3 night trip to Bend. I have never tasted at a distillery, it was a wonderful experience. I tried the vodka, premium vodka, ginger vodka, gin, and hazelnut espresso vodka. After doing the tasting you can only have one cocktail, I had gin and grapefruit juice. I took home a sampler and t-shirt. The tasting is free, the drink was $3. Two small complaints: the samples were served at room temperature. Also there is a serving limit even though I had a DD. I would have liked to try another few of those tasty cocktails. Update: James the Manager sent me a super nice message addressing my gripes :) here is part of it "We serve our spirits at room temperature because you can taste the nuances of the liquor better. When you chill a liquor you mask some of the "heat" of it. When you have liquor tastings in the future notice that most of them will not be at room temp, that means they are trying to hide the true flavor of their liquor. Also, we have a tasting limit because it is Oregon state law." Thanks dude! Room temperature liquor reminds me of one night in Mexico I would rather forget. read more

I'd give it five stars, but they're signage out front and along the highway is a bit confusing. It says Bend Distillery on the building as you pass by at 55mph, but then another sign says Crater Lakes Spirits....as if it's a separate business. Then, when you get to the entrance of the driveway in, the tiny light blue sign with white letters is difficult to read and says Crater Lake CBD?? WTF? Well, we guessed right, it's the Bend Distillery that sells Crater Lake Products, and CBD. Samples were pretty good and priced at $8 for a flight of six. We told the girl that worked there but she really didn't seem to know about the confusion. It's good. They might get more business if they clarified the signs. read more

If you've read a few of my reviews you will gather that I am rather fond of gin. What that means is experimentation with different brands, i.e. exploring beyond my old favorites (Kendrick's, Tangeray, and Beefeater). The search for new gins led me to Bend Distillery's Cascade Mountain Gin, now available in most liquor stores in Oregon and Washington. Bend Distillery uses only natural ingredients (i.e. juniper berries picked in the high steppe country of Central Oregon) and do not introduce extracts or artificial flavors into their gin. That's excellent to hear, and worth an extra star. I know too that their gin has won awards in beverage contests. So --- I bought a bottle of the Cascade Mountain Gin and have tried...and tried...to acquire a taste for this greenish-yellow potion. But it's not working out too well. Mixing with either Cointreau or tonic water, it doesn't matter. I don't want to be crude or harsh, but in fumbling for words to describe this gin's flavor, the smell of a wet baby diaper comes to mind (and to my taste buds). Sorry, but it's true! You mean, this is what unadulterated juniper tastes like? I weepeth if so. On the other hand, Cascade Mountain Gin is 95 proof, so if nothing else is available, it'll do. read more

I am giving this the lowest rating only because we never did get to try it. Their products came highly recommended. We drove all the way out there from Sunriver on the Friday after Thanksgiving and NO ONE WAS THERE. I called first and they said they were open on Friday. When we arrived there was a sign in the window saying they would be right back, they were on a tour, but NO one was at the facility. We waited for about 15-20 minutes. Some other people drove up too, and then we left. I called several times while waiting and couldn't get a person on the phone and their recording didn't indicate they were closed. Very disappointing. Maybe will try them again someday. read more

You know that final stretch b/w Sisters and Bend? Wouldn't it be nice to stop and enjoy the mountain views in vacation-commencing fashion? Bendistillery fills that gap. The reception building has a homey feel. Friendly staff will offer you free tasters -- a full flight w/ palate-neutralizing oyster crackers if you desire. Bar-side indoor seating is nice, but patio seating gazes at north sister; raise a local shot of vodka or gin to toast your arrival in paradise. If you like what you taste, cocktails are available for $3. They'll offer a brief tour before/after your tasting. You'll learn that juniper is a primary ingredient in gin, and Bend sits in the world's largest (non-native) juniper forest; that they use lava rock in the filtering process; and that they're aging a Black Butte Porter whiskey (5 yrs out). FYI: Several signs along the highway will alert you to the righthand turnoff. Signal early and take it slow; it's a 100 degree turn. Another sign will guide you down a gravel road to distillery parking. As a staffer in the legislature, I'm proud that earlier this year we permitted distilleries to offer limited on-site tastings. One has a right, I think, to be a little suspicious of a place market by a sign on a long stretch of rural highway. I mean, this is the territory of ostrich farms and the world's largest ball of yarn ... and Chinese and American Food. Which is to say that the promises of such roadside signs are often just a little overblown. These are the folks behind Crater Lake Vodka, which is somewhat widely distributed, at least in California. The picture on the label is pretty accurate - they're located on a beautiful high desert plain with views of several rugged snow-capped mountains just outside. It turns out that the BenDistillery ( as the sign says ) has a very nice little tasting room with a couple friendly bartenders pouring free tastes of their five products ( two vodkas, gin, a pepper [ not black pepper - hot pepper/sweet pepper ] infused vodka and a sweet hazelnot coffee vodka. ) They also make light cocktails from these spirits, which they sell for $3 each - the bloody mary was very good. Tours are informal. You get to see the small facility where they do the infusions and filtering. They are in the process of installing a still, but I was disappointed to find out that they do not actually do distilling at their distillery yet - just filtering and infusion of base spirit. It was a friendly atmosphere, not expensive, and an interesting stop on the largely deserted road between Sisters and Tumalo. read more

I'm a big, big craft beer lover (in both enthusiasm and girth) and since my move to Portland, I've been in heaven partaking of all the delicious craft brews available in Oregon. Recently, I was told that Oregon is also home to some awesome small batch distilleries, producing fine vodkas, whiskeys and gins. I did a little research and decided to check out some of these homegrown spirits for myself. Cascade Mountain Gin is my first venture into Oregon-made hard liquor. It rings in with a very respectable 95 proof. Zing! The bottle says the juniper berries are locally grown right in Bend, OR. I made myself a tall gin and tonic with the stuff. Delicious! Just how gin should taste. I'm anxious to try some of their other products--especially their pepper-infused vodka. I highly recommend the gin. read more

We were on a weekend trip in Bend for a friend's birthday ... we thought venturing out of the city a bit would be fun. As soon as we stepped out of the car onto the gravel drive, I was in love with this place!! The views are amazing (Three Sisters, Broken Top are in the background), and there's nothing but nature all around. The staff was attentive and fun ... The selection they cover during tasting is really great, and you truly get a feel for their talent. The pepper vodka was amazing ... as good as it gets. It reminded me of biting into a pepper from the garden, so fresh. Their gin was refreshing, and again, tasted like nature (in a great way). Their prices are very reasonable, and we all purchased a few things from them. Great gift shop, great liquor, great staff. A++ read more

What a fun place to visit! My friend and I stopped in here to pick up some Christmas gifts, and got to sample 6 flavors for free, plus only a few bucks for a small mixed drink of their little menu. The host was super friendly and knowledgeable, and they had tables set up inside (looks like outside seating in the warmer months), and a bar with stools as well. I left with a bottle of the sweet ginger vodka, their regular "mixer" vodka (yummy) - although it's still good straight, and the Hazelnut espresso Vodka. I wasn't a fan of the spicy Vodkas, but they would probably go really well in a Bloody Mary, if you like that sort of thing. We'll be back again - next time with the hubbies, and probably bring friends here when they come to visit. Since we live on the north side of town, it is barely 10 minutes from our house - just past Tumalo. read more

This establishment is out in the country between Tumalo and Sisters, just a bit off the main highway. We went in there and sampled some of their product - I really liked the infused Pepper Vodka - it puts the chili beer someone makes in Arizona to shame. They use five kinds of peppers and it is both spicy and flavorful. While we were in their tasting room the distillery had scheduled an enjoyable concert by Bend singer-songwriter-guitarist Mark Barringer. We had a pleasant interlude of music and libation. read more

This was my favorite part about my recent trip to Bend, OR. I have never been on a distillery tour before. We tried the sampler and it was really fun comparing gin that had been filtered 10 times vs 100 times. They also had this pepper vodka that is amazing and spicy! I had the best bloody mary of my life at Bendistillery. We bought the pepper vodka and also the sweet ginger vodka which is really sweet & smooth to drink. I learned that they grow all of their own peppers for their vodka and they pick all of the juniper berries from the trees on their property. I was really impressed with the tour because the tour guide was so knowledgeable & informative. You have got to check out the tour if you go to Bendistillery. I left with a whole new appreciation for gin and vodka & I am excited to start trying to mix new drinks from the bottles that I acquired from my trip. read more

This is a wonderful stop near Bend Oregon. The staff is knowledgeable and the spirits delicious. The more complex the vodka taste, the more sugar and less alcohol it contains, which isn't something I like in a vodka. The proof shouldn't go down to enhance the flavor. They have plenty of seating and offer small tasters of their spirits. I recommend trying the Hatch which is made with hot peppers. It's quite good. They don't offer food so bare that in mind as you indulge in a wide variety of cocktails offered using their vodkas. read more
