The bedroom was very spacious, had a cottage-like feel and was clean. My only complaint is the wifi was down for guests, though I did manage to get access to the reception's wifi, which was accessible only near reception. The grounds are beautiful, so it was nice to walk around in the mornings Meals: Breakfasts were included, which were delicious and very filling though I really only ordered one thing (smoked salmon with scrambled eggs) every morning. Wedding: While the wedding itself was not held here, the afternoon snacks, dinner and dancing portion were. What a magnificent place to hold everything - the room was beautifully set up and I loved that I could return to my room whenever I wanted. All I know is the bridge picked out a package and they seemingly arranged for most of the items. The dinner was so good; everyone was raving about it. Location: It was a short drive from the Northallerton station, so members of the wedding party would pick up arriving guests and we all left together in a big caravan. Very convenient and not in a big city, so it was a relaxed feel. Cannot recommend this place enough.

As its only a couple of miles out of town it makes a great venue for events, it can cater for large numbers such as for a wedding or for smaller groups or corporate events in a more intimate setting. The grounds make a really good backdrop for photographs. The bedrooms are sumptous and tastefully decorated and all of the main rooms have that old fashioned tasteful quality air. The food is good and not over priced or if you don't want a meal, you could just sit and have a quiet drink in the bar. The staff are always really welcoming and friendly.

This is a nice * country house hotel originally built a few hundred years ago. There is an annex…read morewith another 15 rooms which has been added about 20-ish years ago. The original rooms can be large with four-posters available, while the annex is more of a standard hotel room. I've found these rooms to have quite short baths so don't expect to stretch out if you're over 5'2" The hotel has free WiFi but other than the main area it is a bit flaky on reception and drops out quite a bit, cellular signals bounce off the stone too but outside it is a reasonable strength, all rooms have free-view. This is a pleasent hotel to stay in but it is the restaurant that makes it worth the drive when i'm working in the area. Hansards has 2 rosettes and has a fixed price 3 course dinner for about £19 with some suppliments for extras. This is well worth the money and I recommend you take the DBB rate when you book your stay, it works out cheaper. There is no pool or gym here but it would seem out of place if there were. I have given * rating as there is nother really outstanding about this hotel but it is well run with pleasent staff and a good restaurant, what more do you need when your working away from home but they do need to get the reliability of the WiFi sorted out. All of my collegues stay here too so that's a fair recomendation. The hotel itself was very charming, situated on the cliff above Runswick Bay. The staff was always polite and very accommodating of our large group. I'm not sure if we had a group rate or not, but the rate for us was very reasonable. My standard room consisted of one double bed (very comfortable I might add), a free-standing wardrobe, tea/coffee and cookies, and a flat-screen tv. The en-suite bathroom was tiny but I'm fairly minimalist so I was able to make it work. I always had hot water and the water-pressure was good. Our meals were group meals so I can't speak much to individual service, however our group was always received good service. The menu varied from day to day. I'm a picky eater so I did not sample all of the variety, and tended to stay with the beef selection for dinner. While not cooked like I'm used to, the food was always of good quality albeit a bit bland for my taste. No one in our group ever left an empty plate. The soups were apparently quite a hit. One thing the brits do really well are chips - oh how I wish I could get 'fries' this good in the states. For breakfast i always had the continental breakfast which consisted of cereals, yogurts, and pastries. There is also a fully-stocked bar on the first floor. Three things to note: there is no elevator and the stairs are steep (not surprising for a rural hotel), they don't take AMEX, and the free wireless internet was very spotty. Some rooms were not able to get signal at all. Overall, this is a charming coastal hotel situated in a beautiful part of England. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in this area of Yorkshire.

The town of Masham is a quick 20-minute walk with plenty of pubs and a couple of breweries, there are miles of walking/running trails, you can watch the herds of deer from your windows, and the rolling hills dotted with sheep and horses is oh so peaceful. The hotel is literally something out of a Jane Austen novel. Everyone was so pleasant and accommodating. Unlike American hotels, people actually use the lobbies/lounge areas to relax and spend time. When we arrived we were shown to our rooms. We had a great view of the dales. The room was warm, bathroom heated. As soon as we finished refreshing ourselves, my husband and I went down to explore. My in-laws followed about a half hour later and we sat in one of the parlours. They brought us champagne and appetizers while we looked through the menu. And when we were ready we were ushered into the dining room which was absolutely beautiful. We had a 3 course meal. We did the exact same thing the next evening, but different food. The food was amazing. Every dish was so delicious! We had breakfast every morning too and it was simple. Good and simple. After a 3 course meal, you really don't want to go all out the next day. Our weekend stay was worth the drive.
