My husband I were in town for concert and decided to stop by this place on the way out of Town. We don't go to anyplace that doesn't get 4 Plus stars. All the 1's and 2's were about the "surprise" - it's a smoking bar. So, with that in mind we thought - Let's Go. So disappointed. We were both in the mood for seafood plus Cajun - added bonus. I ordered the Crawfish etouffee. Honestly ( hope it was bad day for them) it wasn't edible. Way over salted, the sauce was not flavorful, the presentation was terrible and I'm not sure what or where the crawfish were. Honestly, I should have sent it back but for some crazy reason - I thought it might get better. My husband ordered the seafood salad - upgraded to the crawfish tails. He enjoyed the salad but would give no greater than 3.5. Sunday, they were busy in there and the waitress we had was sweet, and helpful but overworked. This is my first visit but will not be my last. I will definitely try it again. We stopped here just to share an appetizer and have drinks. The service was good. The vibe and atmosphere would remind you of a country bar and grill. My cousin shared with me that they get their seafood from the seafood market, located a few businesses down (Bodean's). We ordered the double fried wings, which were good. I will have to keep this spot in mind and give them a try for something different on their menu. read more

It was a mild November Tuesday night in Tulsa, and I needed a Cajun pick-me-up. Yelp and another aggregator of info that shall remain nameless lead me to Crawpappy's. The name sounded Louisiana enough so I decided to stop in. I'm not sure why I didn't get the hint before walking in, but I expected it to be more of a pub and grill than just a pub. This is a cigarette smoke-flavored pull-up-a-stool joint. I wasn't disappointed, though. This is one kind of place I seek out but have a hard time finding. It's not the kind of place I remember from when I was a kid in Louisiana but it's in that neighborhood, and yet not. Those were usually just outside of town, tucked into a ramshackle annex slapped onto a convenience store just off I-20, the kind of places where you'll always see a couple of beat-up pickups or a well-worn 1970s GM car parked out front even at 10 am. This is tucked toward the back of a shopping center that's still going but is showing its age. On walking in, I first noticed the aforementioned cigarette smoke. I'm a former smoker who hasn't smoked in years but I don't have the militant aversion to smoke that some former smokers have. The smell wasn't overbearing but may be uncomfortable for some. That probably isn't an issue at all for most Tulsans who haven't had to adjust to anti-smoking laws like Dallas has imposed on its establishments. I found a place at end of the bar, a comfy spot far back by the kitchen where the servers keep company with each other and the kitchen help between runs. I noticed something appealing as I got comfortable in my stool. I wasn't being assaulted by loud music, or intermittent eruptions from game players, or TVs turned up loud enough for those in the far corners to hear clearly. Conversing with the stranger next to me was mostly effortless. This I really liked. It may be different on evenings other than a Tuesday that had no major sports events, but that's one more evening in a bar that was easy on the ears than I've had in a long time. I ordered up a draft Dos Equis and a couple of lime slices. The keg was fresh enough, without a hint of that sourness beer gets when the keg was left to sit in a warm delivery truck. You know, that thing that happens when beer goes bad and they slap the "IPA" label and a higher price on it. I order a half dozen of the oyster shooters. The barkeep explained that they were not on the half shell but served in ramekins, having been delivered from Bodean's Seafood across the parking lot. I was quite disappointed in them. They had almost no flavor, either of oysters or the sea, like the taste had been rinsed away. As I've stated before, though, Oklahoma just isn't situated well enough logistically to have good seafood so my expectations weren't high. Next, I ordered a cup of crawfish etouffee. This was pretty good. It's the bar food version of etouffee, mostly crawfish cooked in light brown gravy then poured over rice. It was good enough to order again after I've tried a few other items on the menu. The ratio of gravy to rice was balanced. The amount and flavor of the crawfish was adequate. The service stood out. The barkeep was friendly and accurate despite being somewhat busy. Delivery was timely. The other staff who occasionally milled around between the bar and kitchen were pleasant. I didn't sense any resentment or hear anyone venting suppressed frustration at patrons or other employees. I know that should be expected baseline behavior, but I witness too little of it at too many places to not give them recognition. The food earned just three stars, but the staff, the beer, and the patrons earned an extra one. I look forward to visiting next month when I'll see if Vanessa remembers my name. So happy we found this gem of a hangout joint. Great food & drinks as well as great prices. Incredibly friendly service and a great mixed crowd with no real specific demographic. As soon as we walked in I was thrilled that it appeared that just right amount of divey. We started at a table indoors but quickly noticed the awesome patio and moved out to take advantage of the beautiful weather. I ordered the double fried wings. Super crispy & meaty, really well seasoned and the buffalo sauce was on point. My wife got the catfish covered with etoufee. OMG- freaking delicious !! Recently my wife and I have been trying to do more business with the smaller businesses in our area. We were both aware of Crawpappy's and had been there years ago but not recently. We have now made it over there 3 or 4 times for a late light lunch. We have been impressed with the food and service each time. We have tried the wings both regular and double fried and they were plentiful and delicious. The peel and eat shrimp are fresh and it is a generous portion. ( I understand the come from Bodeens!). We recently tried the Shrimp and grits and it was very good. Lots of other options on the menu we are still checking out each time we go. Standard bar atmosphere but it has always been pleasant, and the service has been wonderful each time. Be prepared if you are seriously anti-smoking it is a smoking bar. We are both ex-smokers and that doesn't seem to bother us like it does some. That is the only reason there aren't 5 stars just to make people aware. The smoke has never been cloudy or oppressive when we have been there. If you can go to a local Casino this will be fine. Go, try, enjoy! read more

Excellent service and food! Definitely a dive bar setting. It is smokey in there, but overall good atmosphere. During the summer it's nice to sit on the patio, which is partially covered, and have lunch. I really think it's a hidden gem of food. The items are well priced and a wide variety of options. If I could give a 0...I would! Myself and 4 others were in town for the Bassmaster Classic. It was our first night in Tulsa and were looking for a place to have some dinner and watch some basketball. We were greeted at the door by them yelling "who let these kids in here". We ignore it and continue to our table. Our extremely pleasant waitress comes over and says she needs to see our ID's. No problem....we are all between the ages of 21 and 24. We all hand her our ID's and she immediately starts accusing us of having fakes. After looking at them for a solid minute she says "I guess I'll accept them". Then proceeds to go get us our drinks. We then decide we're not going to be treated like that so we were just going to finish our drinks and eat dinner somewhere else. As we were finishing our drinks, two cops came in and just walked back out. As soon as they left our waitress comes back and says "you guys looked pretty nervous with those cops in here". We said, "no, we have no reason to be". She then walks away again after giving us more disgusted looks. We then finish our drinks and ask for the bill. She says "wow, real big spenders tonight". After she comes back with our change, we ask her where we can go around here to get a drink and eat dinner without being harassed and treated the way we were and her response was "with your age...no where". As we're walking towards the door to leave, the waitresses yell out "goodbye children"...so we politely shot them the bird and they all yelled out "go f**k yourselves" as we walked out the doors. If I could give a 0 I would. Me and 4 friends were in town and wanted to go have a drink and watch some basketball. Our ages are 24,24,22,21,23. When we walked in we got a warm welcome of "who let these f**king kids in here". I ignored it and proceeded to our table. Our waitress then comes over and checks our IDs and says "I remember when I was f**king 18 and storms away. Comes back and takes our drink orders. Then about 10 minutes later we are watching basketball and 2 cops walk in. Our waitress thinks it's necessary to come over and say "you look really nervous that the cops are here". I responded with "no ma'am we are not. We have nothing to be nervous about". We decide to leave for obvious reasons. As we are walking out the door they still think it's necessary to scream the F word at us as we are walking out the door. Needless to say, but I have never been treated this poorly at any sort of restaurant or bar. Also left a review on google and they decided to delete it. Also tried talking to a manager about my experience and can't get anyone to have a conversation with. read more

I went in around 9:00 o'clock was told that the kitchen was closed but they could serve me some microwave pizza I turned around and walked out did I go through some kind of time space portal and end up in 1960s Alabama because that's what it felt like. This is an update of a previous review. I still love this bar. The staff has changed some, as will always happen with time, but is still great. I will echo my previous statement about the crawfish po' boy. Best sandwich in town. For a little over a year now they have had brunch from 11am to 2pm on Sundays. The items on the brunch menu rotate and everything I've had is good. The Cheesey snd Scrambled-Up Eggs Platter is an absolute steal for the price. You can still get the rest of the menu if you don't want brunch. This has become my favorite thing to do on a Sunday afternoon. Highly recomemd this place.
