I've been coming to Empire here & there for some years. Usually, it dealt with either Mardi Gras or FIFA. When it came to Mardi Gras, there would be a food truck that would sit in front (I wish I could remember who it was... if anyone remembers, please refresh my memory...) & have a special menu. I made it ritual not to miss out on the food during that time. It can get really active at Empire when it comes to soccer. I love seeing the crowds & who they root for. Recently, it was Netherlands vs Morocco & it was a really good game. People who rooted for the Netherlands were DEEP in their orange jerseys (Morocco ended up winning). Outside of the obvious choices when it comes to beer, they have a selection of local beer as well. There's a LED sign that sits to the right of the bar that has an extended list of other drinking options. To those who don't drink, Empire has Mood Bru on deck. I always enjoyed myself whenever I visited. Speaking of food, if there's not a food truck on site, there's plenty of food to choose from in the surrounding (local) businesses. read more

Empire is THE place to go to have a chill and laid-back time...oh and to watch sports of course! I was frantically looking for places to go watch the World Cup games and none really gave me that enthusiastic and hopeful feel I was looking for until I came here. Their futbol vibe starts way before you even walk in the door. I checked out their Facebook page and they seemed psyched up about it...counting down the days until the World Cup started, posting pics (not rare in other places but seriously the ONLY place in Tulsa I found doing this)...I love that they had flags decorating the outside too and even a soccer goal set up in the back. The inside isn't anything fancy nor pretty but that's the beauty of empire, it's simplicity and how it simply works. They have plenty of TVs all around, two pool tables, plenty of sitting and a very nice patio. The drinks are very affordable and they always have specials going on. I loved that they personalized the bar and specials according to EACH match that was going on (Sauza tequila when Mexico played plus the chance to win a lovely umbrella and chair). That's something else that adds fun to the the futbol watching here too... They give out prizes and freebies ALL the time, after EVERY match! I'm not talking about lame ones either that no one really wants...they give out soccer balls, jerseys, scarfs... It's pretty awesome. This is my favorite place to watch futbol for sure. So if you come in during the World Cup I'll probably be there. I almost forgot to mention the food. Sometimes they hand out free hot dogs, and sometimes the Mangiamos food truck parks right outside! Oh and I can't forget about the awesome service and nice people that work here!!! Their genuineness is so refreshing, they make you feel at home here. The bouncer is super funny and it's just all good here so plan a visit! The ONLY thing I wish I could change is the parking situation but that's just external and sometimes out of their control. Powertripping bouncer tried to kick everyone out 6 minutes before closing time. When I stated that they were not yet closed, he dragged me over the pavement, leaving lacerations on my arms and legs, as well as attempting to choke me out to the point where I thought I would pass out. Great dive bar, especially if you want to watch soccer. The owner was super friendly and welcoming to me when I went in by myself to watch the Everton game, recently. They don't have a kitchen, but have a pretty liberal outside food policy. When I was there, a group of guys ordered a Hideway pizza and ate it in the bar. Non-Smoking!!! Yes! I didn't know, so I wore semi-dirty jeans that could get thrown in the wash later that night. lol Now that I know it's non-smoking, I can wear normal clothes... I met some friends for a free trivia night on Monday and it had been a while since I had participated in any real trivia sessions, so had no idea what to expect. We had a good time, however they play a song after they ask the question, so since we were close to the speakers, it was a little hard to concentrate on some of the question and answers, especially the ones about music! My friends enjoyed their drinks, so no complaints there. The bar is a huge soccer/futbol bar so World Cup, US Open, any other major soccer games are played there and it's probably crazy packed on game days. read more

Great place to soak in some soccer. Tvs everywhere, really good eclectic crowd. The decor is such, than you can almost feel for a second, like you are in Europe. No food when I was there although I do think they serve breakfast sometimes. The hours showing on google and their website or fb(cant remember) make it seem like they dont open till 3, so I almost didnt go. Empire is really chill. Usually an older crowd than you'll find at the downtown bars. I like coming to empire because the bartenders are so friendly! It's usually not too loud in there, so conversation isn't too difficult. The patio is spacious and private so that's a nice place to hang out with a PBR on a nice autumn evening. I love Empire. Such a cool place to hang out. First off, I think the drinks are a good deal. I got a good draft beer the other night and only paid a few dollars. Others I've been with don't like the mixed drinks because they think they're watered down, but that's not really my thing. The best thing about Empire is that you can actually do something there besides sit at a table. There are two pool tables and lots of TVs. I love spending a Saturday night watching the late games and playing pool. Finally, probably the nicest people. The bouncer is a cool guy and always very nice to anyone who walks in. After visiting Empire Bar a few times I feel like I've got a good handle on when to go, and when to pass. When To Go: -Thunder playoff basketball games. They have TV's around the bar and it's never too packed. However, make sure the TV you sit by has sound working and call ahead to make sure they turn on the game. - Play pool. They have two tables in the center of the bar. - Patio-ing. (Weather permitting.) - When you feel like being mysterious and/or don't want to get fixy. The lights are quite dim. - When you need a friendly bartender. Don't come here after getting dolled up. The demographic of patrons I've seen ranges from probably 26- 65 year old men and women. Good for cheap drinks and watching the game! Huge TV's from the ceiling and a Juke Box in the corner for music. They have a couple pool tables and there is usually a food truck out front on weekends. I almost always have one of their drink specials because they are tasty. Dog friendly! The patio has plenty of tables and seating. I'm a big fan of Empire for a number of reasons. It's a great bar with not a lot of other decent options around it, the bartenders are nice and accommodating, they have pool and an awesome outdoor patio, and it's either completely chill or completely crazy--there is no in between! If you're a soccer/futbol fan, this is the place to go. You can't miss Empire with all the team flags hanging off the front, and there is always a group there to cheer on your favorite team. The bar has great specials and giveaways for games, and also hosts trivia on Monday (which is always a good time!) As a soccer and beer fanatic, this bar is perfect. The atmosphere is perfect for a soccer fan- the decor of jerseys and flags really gets you in the mood. They have about 10 TVs playing soccer at the same time, so you won't have to worry about being far away from the screen. The beer selection is good as well. However I had a bad experience here with a watered down Dos Equis draft. When they are broadcasting soccer matches, there is usually a food truck outside where you can order and bring food in. I first heard about this place through a sign at McNellie's proclaiming that they have 200 more beers than Empire. Now that I've been to both I can't see why they'd even want to compare the two places. This converted auto garage has about 40 or so mostly mainstream beers, and is shameless in pasting promotional beer ads throughout, including a "beer of the month" poster- Bud Light Lime?! There are three pool tables, which would be the main reason I'd go back if I were in Tulsa more often, though I'd pray that other patrons would lay off the jukebox, which is hopelessly stuck in the 80s. The clientele is about as diverse as the jukebox- all 20s to early 30s, more hipster than post-greek. read more

Stiff drinks, but lots of drama. A lady had slipped outside and cut her head, so we received little service as the bartenders were concerned with making sure the bar wasn't liable for the accident. My husband had been here once before and encountered a similar situation where someone had been stabbed. This is one of our usual go to places for a drink. It's really relaxed and the whole "we welcome everyone" vibe is awesome. The newer bartenders are okay but I do have to tell them how to make my drink every time but they are a quick study so it does the job. Not pretentious or trendy just a good solid bar. read more
